PRODUCT REVIEW: REVIVE DRY SUMMER HAIR WITH L'OREAL, DAVROE AND DE LORENZO FROM BEAUTOPIA HAIR AND BEAUTY

You may recall that I last month talked about an online beauty store called Beautopia Hair & Beauty, which is an Australian company selling a large range of premium hair and beauty products, both online, and through their stores. Last month I was so lucky to be offered to try some of the products from Pixi Beauty, which, if you missed it, you can read more about here. And this month, I am putting some haircare products to the test, which I am so super excited about as my hair really seems to be struggling a little this summer.

QUICK EVERYDAY MAKEUP - WITH JANE IREDALE DREAM TINT, PHYSICIANS FORMULA, MAX FACTOR, CLARINS, SCOUT, RIMMEL, L'OREAL, ERE PEREZ

With a toddler running around my legs, these days it is rare that I have much more than 5-10 minutes or so to do my makeup before my little boy has pulled everything out from the bathroom cabinets. So most I rely on products which will allow me to apply my makeup quickly. Here are my current picks; 

I use a tinted moisturiser, the Dream Tint from Jane Iredale which gives me a lovely even skin tone and a lovely dewy matte look with a lovely glow all while still looking very natural. It is very moisturising, so on hot and humid summer days I don’t even need to apply a moisturiser first (but I’d never skip my serum!), and as it also comes with SPF15, that side is covered too! (I have previously reviewed this Dream Tint and you can see my full review here!)


I then use the Physicians Formula Bronze Booster, which works to both contour the face, and add a touch of a bronze healthy look to my face (and if I feel like it, to my décolleté and shoulders as well!). The palette contains two bronze shades so depending on my mood I can either use both of them together, or even separately. The bronzer also has a touch of golden shimmer, adding a touch glow to my face.

If I have time, I like to add a touch of highlighter to the top of my cheek bones – it simply adds a touch of glow and life to my dull tired face. And this Mineral Illuminser from Scout Cosmetics is my current go to product. It is made from natural minerals it adds such a lovely natural and healthy glow, all without being too shimmery or glittery. (RRP: $44.95)

On my cheeks I love using the Ere Perez Cheek and Lip Balm in Holy. In the compact it looks to be a dark berry shade, but once on the cheeks it has a lovely sheer velvety finish that is so natural as if you’ve just pinched your cheeks! And if I want a darker effect, I simply just add a little more. It is quick and easy to apply with your fingers, and any remains you can simply wipe over your lips for a lovely stain, although I do love applying it with the incredibly soft Ere Perez Multipurpose Brush that is perfect blending for all creamy products. On my eyes I use the Wild Shadow Pots from Max Factor in either Savage Rose, Auburn Envy, or Burnt Bark. These eye shadows are very pigmented, and just a quick wipe is all it takes for a casual everyday look. I often just use one colour on its own, but if I do have a little more time, combine two or three of them.
To line my eyes I use the Super Liner Silkissme from L’Oreal Paris. The black eyeliner, glides on smoothly and easily, without any pulling or dragging. It gives an intense look with a nice shine that lasts all days, even when my eyes are watering. (RRP: $22.95) Above the lash line, I currently like using the Instant Liner from Clains. This eyeliner makes it so easy to draw a precise and fine line, while providing intense pigment that simply doesn’t budge or fade during the day. 

And of course I cannot skip mascara, and my current pick is the Scandal Eyes Rockin’ Curves from Rimmel London. The large curved brush on this mascara makes it so easy to get to even the smallest of lashes, evenly coating them, and giving them both volume and length as well as a nice curl. No lash curler needed! (RRP: $16.95)

Next is the pout, as of curse you cannot skip the lips. And like most others I really love the crayon style lipsticks and balms, and my current picks are the Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms from Covergirl as they are just so easy to apply also on the go later in the day thanks to the twist-up pen. I love shade Mauve Twist, which is a lovely dark nude mauve shade, or Berry Twist when I feel like something a little bolder as it is a brighter fuchsia pink shade. The both go on sheer, although you can build up the colour, all while still leaving a nice glossy shine to the lips. And they double as lip balms too, as they are so moisturising on the lips containing both shea and mango butter. (RRP: $12.95)

Unless I’ve already run out of time, I also prefer doing my brows before I run out the door. They are victims of serial over-plucking so a little help from the Colour Riche Eye Brow Pencil from L’Oreal is needed. With this pencil it is so quick and easy to fill in any gaps to define the brows, while the convenient brush at the other end helps style them into place! (RRP: $22.95)

So there you go, my current picks of products that are so quick and easy to use when you are in a hurry, but still want to apply your makeup..

PRODUCT REVIEW; L'OREAL PARIS REVITALIFT LASER X3 DUAL ACTION MOISTURISER

Having previously used and loved products from the L'Oreal Revitalift range, I was excited when I was introduced to this new L'Oréal Revitalift Laser X3 Dual Action Moisturiser. 

The L'Oréal Revitalift Laser X3 Dual Action Moisturiser. promises to help correct wrinkles and fine lines, unify and illuminate the complexion, making it brighter and smoother, while also stimulating and strengthening it and helping it repair, remodel and repair itself. Sounds pretty good, and perfect for my ageing skin.

My first impression was immediate love for the bright red bottle with the dual pump system that makes it so easy, and not to mention hygienic to dispense just the amount of cream needed. The cream also has a lovely floral scent, which personally I really like.

The cream consists of two different anti-ageing ingredients, separated for as long as possible to ensure their efficacy, and then when you pump the bottle, you'll dispense a little of each which you can then mix together just before applying to the face. One is a white serum-like consistency, while the other one is a pink'ish cream.

Usually anti-ageing creams are very thick and heavy, a hence often not a match for my ageing, but combination skin prone to breakouts. But that is thankfully not the case with this one, it is very light and absorbs immediately into the skin, and actually leaves my skin with a lovely velvety matte feel that is also perfect as a base for makeup. So really it is a perfect match for my skin, and also ideal for use during the warmer months when my skin in general is a little greasier.

And in spite of being light, it is still very moisturising. After having used the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser X3 Dual Action for several weeks I have to say that I am in love with this cream, and it is without a doubt the best L'Oreal anti-ageing cream that I have used, again because it is so perfect for my skin type. But naturally also because of the results - as I do feel that my skin is looking smoother and brighter, and generally looking glowing and healthy. I am unsure if it has made any significant difference in the amount of lines and wrinkles, but that said, not many creams would in such a short period of time.

On the negative this cream does not contain any SPF (and hence it is suitable for use both morning and evening), but I have to say that I don’t mind that at all, as I have a suspicion that SPF contributes to my skin breaking out -and on the days I know I am inside most of the day, I prefer to go without the SPF and then add it on top if and when needed.

But overall I really like this cream, as gives my skin the moisture it needs, while making my skin look healthy and radiant, and it works under my makeup too, and all without making my skin feel congested or make it break out. So for that reason, I'd definitely consider repurchasing again.

PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OREAL PARIS PURE CLAY MASKS

I remember seeing these L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Masks on international social media, and so looking forward to them arriving in Australia, so they did, I was very excited.

The L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask range has the philosophy that there one mask doesn't fit all skin types, so hence they have launched three different ones, each with its own specific purpose and benefit, targeting specific skin concern. This mean that you can select just the mask that is right for your skin, or even multi-mask and use them in combination on different areas on your skin, with for instance one on the generally greasier t-zone area, another on the duller cheeks, and the third one on rougher areas such as the chin.

Each clay mask combines a powerful blend of three pure clays:

• Kaolin - to gently absorb impurities and excess oil
• Montmorillonite - rich in minerals which help to purify and re-balance the skin
• Ghassoul - with a high concentration of natural minerals, to clarify the complexion

Let's start talking about my favourite of the three, the Detoxiying + Brightening Charcoal Mask. I guess it really comes down to the fact that it is best suited to how my skin currently is - combination to oily, with a tendency be dull and congested and hence break out.

The charcoal in the mask literally does act like a magnet to draw out any excess sebum, impurities, and clean the pores deep down for a skin that is significantly more refined and less oily, and smoother too. After a few uses, I have also noticed that blackheads and pores have significantly reduced, and I am convinced that with continuous frequently use, this mask will help prevent my skin getting so congested and breaking out so much.

Next up is the green Purifying + Mattifying Eucalyptus Mask, which is intended for those with oily skin types, as it is intended to work deep into the pores purify by absorbing excess impurities and oil, while re-balancing the skin's oil production and leaving it looking matte.

Still, I prefer the Charcoal Mask, but I do love how this green mask is also leaving my skin feeling so soft and smooth, and I can definitely tell that my seems less oily and more matte after each use. I also like that it feel gentle on the skin (and not as drying as the charcoal mask), and helps make my skin look more refreshed.

Finally, there's the Exfoliating + Smoothing Red Algae Mask, which is a little different from the first two as it also contains exfoliating particles from finely milled apricot to help buff away dull and uneven skin tone for a brighter and more glowing skin. While I do love chemical exfoliants, I do like to use a 'manual' one too, only you naturally have to be cautious not o apply too much pressure, or it can be a little harsh on the skin. Luckily this one is very gentle, so it is also suitable for those with more sensitive skin types.

The masks are to be left on the skin for about 10 minutes before being rinsed off with warm water, although I do like to massage my skin gentle when removing the Exfoliating + Smoothing Red Algae Mask for a little extra exfoliation.

 

The charcoal mask and the eucalyptus masks are both quite thick in consistency, while the red algae mask is slightly thicker and slightly rougher, thanks to the exfoliating particles, but common for all is that they do spread quite easily over the skin.

They are all fairly fragranced, but personally I kind of like the scents so I don't mind, but if you are sensitive to strong fragrances, these may not be for you.

The all come in heavy duty, slightly square glass jars, in the same style as the L'Oreal Moisturisers, which I don't mind, but I would have loved if they had also come with a small spatula to make it easier to get out of the jar without getting it stuck under your finger nails.

Overall, I was so looking forward to these masks being launched here in Australia, and I am so in love with them. Yes, the Charcoal Mask may be my favourite, but again that's probably more to do with my skin currently having a bit of a hissy fit with breakouts, and this Charcoal Mask really seem to help minimise the breakouts. But that said, I am also loving the Red Algae Mask for making my skin more glowing, and the Eucalyptus Mask for clearly making my skin look less greasy.

Considering the high quality of these masks I also find them to be very well priced, so all in all I can only highly recommend these, and can see myself repurchasing them again and again.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LIQUID EYELINERS FROM DESIGNER BRANDS, MAYBELLINE AND L'OREAL

I have been using liquid eyeliners for as long as I can remember, but finding the right one, can be a tricky task. Today I'm putting three different ones from different brands and at different price points to the test..

Let's start with the cheapest one in the line up, the Designer Brands Crème Gel Liner. This little beauty comes in a little jar, that has a built in brush applicator. I am not used to this type of eye liners, so I did struggle the first couple of times used it, I simply got a tad messy, simply as I had way too much product on the brush! The angled design of the brush does make it possible to draw both thin and bold lines, but again, I especially struggle with the thin ones. Apart from that, it is extremely pigmented! Just one swipe gives you a solid colour,- and in actual act, the most pigmented one of the three I'm talking about today. And if its for a few moments to dry, it is also smudge proof, lasting you all day.

Next in line (pun intended), is the medium priced Maybelline NY Master Precise Curvy Eyeliner, which from the outside looks a little bit like a 'sharpie pen' with its thick design. On the inside, the felt tip, has a unique hourglass design, that is to make it easier to draw a curved line along the lashes, from corner to corner, giving a bold look, while if its tipped up on its edge, the design also make it possible to draw finer lines. This liner is also very pigmented, but if drawing a thick line, I do find that you may need to go over the line again for an intense look, but other than that, it does last all day without budging.

Finally there's the L'Oreal Paris Superliner Superstar Eyeliner, which has a unique flexible, almost tear drop style tip, that allows the eyeliner to follow the shape of the eyes for a more natural look. The tip is also super fine, and while it can make a bolder line by adding an addition line, or two, it does draw super fine lines, which is essentially what I prefer. It is also very pigmented, and with just one stroke leaves a deep black impression with a nice shiny finish.

So there you go, three different liquid eyeliners. I admit to liking each and everyone of them, but it does take some getting used to the pot and separate brush, but once you do, I'm sure the result is fabulous. The Maybelline Curvy liner is fantastic especially for those occasions where you prefer a bolder look, while the L'Oreal Superliner Superstar Eyeliner, with its ability to draw superfine lines, perfect for an everyday casual look where a more minimalistic look is preferred.

L'OREAL PARIS SKINCARE LAUNCHES JULY TO DECEMBER 2016

Some weeks ago I was lucky to attend a blogger event at the L'Oreal Paris HQ in Melbourne where a lot of the new products for the second half of 2016 were launched, including these skincare products; the L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler HA Intensive Replumping Eye Cream and Revitalift Filler HA Intensive Replumping Night Moisturiser. Both of these products are aimed at those aged from late 30s to 60+, so really perfectly suited for my skin.

 Let me start with the L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler HA Intensive Replumping Eye Cream, the products I have been most excited about, as nothing beats a good eye cream. This eye cream contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and replump the hollow tear area under the eye, all while adding intense moisture to the eye area.

And what I really like is the unique double sided applicator at the end of the tube. One side is curved to perfectly follow the contour area under they eyes, while the flat side on the other side is for massaging the eye area where its cooling effect help reduce the appearance of bags under the eyes. This applicator is as easy to use as your finger, although it does take a little getting used to, in particular how much product you need to squeeze out, but once you get the hang of it, I think it really makes a difference, as in the short period I've used this cream, I feel that the skin around my eyes is looking firmer and the eye are in general more refreshed and well-rested. 

For the face, L'Oreal has launched the Revitalift Filler HA Intensive Replumping Night Moisturiser. This moisturiser is also contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, and promises to help fight the signs of ageing, by gradually replumping the skin, making it smoother, firmer and visibly younger looking. 

The cream has a lovely consistency that absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it feel silky soft and smooth. After using for just a few nights, I can tell that my skin is enjoying the intense moisture, as my skin does have a nice glow, and I do feel that my skin looks more refreshed and relaxed, and the frown line between my brows does seem to have softened somewhat in appearance.

The moisturiser comes in a gorgeous purple jar with a purple lid, and even the actual moisturiser has a gorgeous lavender tinge. How cute and girly. It has a nice floral scent, and while I do like this scent, some may find it a tad too strong.

Intense night creams are sadly often too rich and heavy for my combination skin, quickly making it feel greasy and congested - but so far this has not been the case with this cream. I think maybe its because it is still winter and my skin is a little drier than it is in the warmer months of the year, but time will tell!

Overall these are great product additions from L'Oreal, and I certainly wouldn't hesitate purchasing again, in particular the eye cream.

L'OREAL PARIS NEW HAIRCARE LAUNCHES JULY TO DECEMBER 2016

A few weeks ago I was so lucky to go to the exclusive blogger event where the new L'Oréal Paris product launches for July to December 2016 were revealed. I have already told you about the makeup launches, so here I will concentrate on the new haircare products.

First up there are three leave-in treatments, including the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Fibrology Double Serum, which is a unique dual action treatment that consists of two parts that mixes together when pumped out of the bottle, to provide complete action and care to the hair fibres.

On one side of the bottle there is the pink thickening gel, which is enriched with active ingredient Filloxane that penetrates the hair to create substance and thicken the hair fibre from within. And on the other side of the bottle, the transparent smoothing serum that softens and smooths the surface of the hair for a silky and shiny finish. This serum can be used in both wet and dry hair, and smells absolutely divine, and just a small pump or two through my hair really does leave it feeling soft and smooth and looking healthy.

The L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil-In-Cream is a leave-in hair cream that deeply nourishes the hair, containing a combination of highly concentrated oils from six precious flowers, and it has a beautiful floral scent that continues to linger in the hair for quite a while. It is quite light and absorbs quickly into the hair, instantly making it feel soft and smoothing down frizz, but without making the hair feel greasy or feel heavy. The treatment can be used in wet hair after washing it, but can also be used in dry hair to add shine, moisture to the hair and smooth down frizz. Finally, it can also be used as a treatment prior to heat styling to protect the hair from any damage, so it is truly a multi tasking product.

Finally, the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 CICA Cream, which is also a leave-in hair cream specifically designed for damaged hair. The formula contains among others cicamide which instantly absorbs into the hair fibres to help target and repair damaged hair including breakage and split ends, while also protecting the hair from environmental aggressors. This treatment comes in a small pump bottle and is very light so again, just a few pumps is all that is required to coat my long thick hair. And when applied to especially the ends, in either wet of dry hair, you can immediately both see and feel how it tames frizz and treats dry and fuzzy ends, while leaving the hair silky soft and smooth.

Next is the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Mask, is a concentrated mask for very dry hair, which comes in a golden orange tub. The formula contains Nutri-Ester technology, which leaves an ultra-thin film on hair that acts as a protective top coat. It also contains rose oil to regenerate hair, lotus oil to soften, chamomile oil to soothe, tiara oil to purify, flax oil to illuminate, and sunflower oil for its antioxidant properties. This treatment can be used after shampooing in lieu of conditioner, or as the occasional treatment - but with long hair, my ends are often dry, so i do like using it after each hair wash - also because it is a fast acting treatment that only needs to be left in the hair for 2-3 minutes before being rinsed out, which makes it good when you're in a hurry too. It has a nice scent, and does leave the hair feeling deeply nourished, even my dry ends.

And finally, there's the L’Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense Heat Protect Cream, which is a heat protection cream that works to protect the hair from heat styling tools, including hair dryers and straighteners, at up to 230°C, which I believe, is also the highest heat setting of most major heat styling tools. The Heat Protect Cream also features an anti-humidity frizz shield to leave hair smooth for up to 96 hours, as well as it continues to keep the hair deeply nourished. The cream has a floral yet slightly spicy scent, that is quite lovely, and again, continues to linger in the hair for a while.

Overall, some fantastic new releases from L'Oréal Paris, and as I've been enjoying using every single one of these, I cannot even begin to pick favourites amongst these, and I would not hesitate purchasing either of these products again.

L'OREAL PARIS NEW PRODUCT LAUNCHES JULY - DECEMBER 2016

A few weeks ago I was so lucky to be invited to the launch of the new L'Oréal Paris products for the second half of 2016. This launch event also covered skincare and haircare, but I will tell you about those in separate posts.

Like most other brands, L'Oréal is also jumping on the contouring craze with the introduction of the Infallible Sculpt Contouring Palette. This palette contains two shades, a lighter shade to lift and highlight as well as a darker shade to create the illusion of a shadow and sculpt the hollows of you cheeks and temples for a combined more sculpted look.

The product has a gorgeous cream to powder consistency, that feels gorgeous on the face, and is super easy to blend. As promised it really also does stay put throughout the day, even on my combo skin.

It comes in two combinations, Light and Medium/Dark, and it comes in a long slimline case, which has a mirror on the inside, as well as a useful instruction booklet that shows you how to sculpt your face depending on your face shape.

No launch is of course compete without a new mascara, so L'Oréal is launching the False lash Sculpt Mascara. This mascara has a very unique plastic comb brush where you first use the tip of the brush to gently press the brush on your waterline to fill in between the lash roots. Hereafter you use the brush as you usually would apply mascara, and it volumises the lashes, coating even the smallest of lashes for a more fanned out sculpted look. I've always been a fan of L'Oréal mascaras, and I think this new one will be no exception - once I actually get a hang of using the tip to fill in between the lash roots without smearing the mascara everywhere!

Another on trend product is for the brows, and new from L'Oréal is the 2-in-1 Brow Artist Sculpt. My current brow favourite is the Brow Artist Plumper from L'Oréal as it is simply so quick and easy to use - and now L'Oréal is really taking it one step further with the Brow Artist Sculpt. It has a very unique brush that features a sculpting felt tip to give shape to the brows while the bristle brush helps style and fix brows, for more sculpted-looking brows. You simply use the felt tip to draw over the brows and follow with the brush part to shape and fix. It has a powder-to-cream texture, and gives a very natural look. I'm still unsure if it will take over from my trusted Brow Artist Plumper, but it's certainly a good contender. It is available in two shades; Brunette and Dark Brunette.

For the nails L'Oréal is launching three new pastel shades into the Infallible Gel Nail Polish Range. These long 'pens' features the nail polish/base coat in one end, and the gel activating top coat in the other end. These polishes leave your nails looking plumper and with a super shiny finish to resemble a UV manicure. The polishes have been enriched with a flex-resin that promises to make the manicure last for up to 12 days without peeling, chipping or cracking. I have used these previously and do love the look and intense shine these polishes give your nails, and while I do agree that they make your manicure look nice and shiner for longer, I unfortunately don't quite get the 12 days wear, more like a week or so, which is still longer than with your 'average' nail polish, so still pretty good. Also love the pastel shades, which is always nice to brighten up the dark winter days and clothes, plus they'll be perfect come spring and summer too. The Infallible Gel Nail Polish Pastels are available in three shades;

• 40 Marshmallow Power
• 42 Unlimited Lollipop
• 43 Endless Candyheart

Finally there's the Colour Riche Le Vernis Super Graphic Pop, which is a new range of super bold colours. I love these Le Vernis polishes, they are easy to apply with a streak-free result, and they last considerably well, and the small bottles come at a reasonable price so you can justify getting several shades! The new Graphic Pop range include four new shades, including;

• Pop Corn 240 - Achieve the perfect bright pop on your nails with this light yellow, solid shade with no orange undertones

In addition (and not pictured here!), L'Oréal is also launching a Blush Sculpt Contouring Palette, which is a 3-in-1 blush trio, where shades can be used individually or blended together exactly how you like it for a sculpted look with a luminous glow. These blushes look absolutely beautiful, so I definitely want to get my hands on at least one of the combinations. It is available in two shades;

• 102 Nude Beige
• 201 Soft Rosy

Also new is the L'Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist, which is a setting spray that helps set and stabilise your makeup to give it a more professional look while making it look just-applied for longer. With my combination skin, I'm always struggling getting my makeup to stay put, even with a primer, so using this setting mist may just be what my skin needs.

And finally, L'Oréal is also extending the colour range of its True Match Foundations, which is supposedly one of the best-selling L'Oréal foundations, to make sure it is easier to find your ideal shade. I've actually never tried this foundation, so must definitely check this out too to see what all the hype is all about.

PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OREAL PARIS NUDE MAGIQUE CUSHION FOUNDATION

Today I'd like to talk about the new Nude Magique Cushion Foundation from L'Oreal Paris. The Asian countries were the first ones to introduce these new types of sponge foundation, followed by the luxe western brands, so it is nice to now see a more affordable brand launch theirs too.

The Nude Magique Cushion Foundation promises to be a weightless foundation that gives a buildable light to medium coverage with a natural healthy glow.

Firstly, I love the round compact with the pinky-purple lid, as it is not only very girly, it is also very practical as it has an internal lid that holds the foundation sponge, which makes it perfect for touch-ups on the go

It is very simply to use, you simply push the included applicator puff into the cushion sponge, and then glide over the skin to build up the desired coverage.

 

The actual foundation is very light, and hence you can also almost not feel that you are wearing it. It is easy to blend and gives the skin a very natural and radiant and dewy look, yet still with a decent light to medium coverage, easily covering smaller imperfection, redness, and bags under my eyes.

On my combination skin, this Nude Magique Cushion Foundation from L'Oreal has a quite good wear, and actually I was surprised to see it last 7-8 hours before it started to settle into lines and look shiny. And that's without any primer, as I feel that's the best way to initially test out a foundation. But when used with a primer first, and set with a translucent powder the wear is extended considerably.

So overall I am really enjoying using this foundation as it gives my skin a good natural coverage with a nice glow. It is quick and easy to apply and stays put throughout the day which is really all you can ask for!

PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OREAL PARIS INFALLIBLE FX LIP COLORS

Today I'd like to introduce you to a new and very unique range of lipsticks, the L'Oreal Paris Infallible FX Lip Colors. So what is so unique about these - well you see, they actually look a little bit like eyeshadow applicators, if it wasn't for the red shades!

The lipsticks are made from a powder pigment, and claims to be transfer-proof and last for 10 hours with a powdery matte effect with no dryness.


There are six shades in the collection, including;

01 Silencio
02 Like A Virgin
04 Oops I Did It Again
06 Disturbia
07 Say My Name
08 I Gotta Feeling


I've tried three of these shades, Silencio, Opps I did it again and Say My Name.


The pointy tip of the cushion applicator makes it easy to line the lips, and hereby you can glide the larger side of the applicator over the lips for full colour. And what I also like about these is that they allow for a variety of looks, a thin layer will give you a sheer look, while a few more swipes will give you a bolder and brighter look, although I wouldn't call very intense.

And they are indeed very matte on the lips and do hold up very well, although I haven't quite manage to get 10 hours wear from them, but perhaps that's without eating or drinking! But even so they do have a good staying power, and when they do fade, they do so evenly so you just end up with that sheer wash of colour.

Of the shades I tried, I particularly love Oops I Did It Again which is a Fuchsia pink shade and Say My Name which is a classic red shade. The last shade, Silencio is a nude shade that I unfortunately don't quite suit my colouring.

Overall I really enjoy wearing these innovative new Infallible FX Lip Colours, - often matte lipsticks are very drying on the lips, but thanks to the powdery formula these are not, and actually very lovely to wear with their almost weightless feel, and the fact that you can vary the look depending on mood and occasion just adds further to the appeal.

HOSPITAL BAG - MAKEUP

Just nine days left until the baby is due!! Well of course, unless baby wants to come sooner that is. I know that I won’t feel like wearing full-on makeup whilst in hospital, but still, I know that I will feel a lot better if I wear at least a little when visitors come to meet our little bub. And not to mention later on when I look at all the happy snaps that will no doubt be taken.
The intended stay at the hospital is about 4 nights, so at least I'll get something for all the money we're forking out on private hospital cover each month! So I have packed some key makeup items for the stay – plus a few more, just in case… and although I did initially plan on packing lightly, I know it will still contain a lot more products than originally intended, but what I can I say, I'm serial over-packer, and besides, it is always easier to bring it along yourself, than having to ask hubby to find it and bring it for you!! Anyway, here’s what I’ve included; 

Thalgo BB Cream Perfect Glow

This BB Cream from Thalgo, is perfect as it helps give the skin some much needed moisture (who doesn’t get dry skin when they’re in hospital), plus it gives the skin a light coverage with and a nice healthy and radiant glow. I don’t expect to look like Kate (after all, I doubt I’ll have a makeup and hair artist at hand!), just a few hours after birth, but I’d still like to look my best when visitors are coming and for the tons of photos that will be taken and treasured for years and years to come. Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24HR Makeup
This foundation is my current favourite full coverage foundation, and if my skin is going to be playing up, which it is prone to, then this will be my go-to product. I know that it will give me a good, yet natural coverage, and best of all, I can trust that it stays put all day, so I don’t need to worry about having to touch-up, or that it rubs off onto my little bub. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer
As I write this, I am feeling pretty drained and tired as I’ve completely forgotten what a good night’s sleep is, which consequently does show with increasing dark circles under my eyes. My preferred go to concealer is here the Secret Camouflage concealer, which comes with two shades so that you can blend your ideal shade. It is quick and easy to apply, and stays put all day. The perfect camouflage for looking like you’re well-rested! $49.00
 
Jane Iredale Blush + Amazing Base Mineral PowderIf I do feel like I need a touch up during the day, I swear by the refillable brush from Jane Iredale with the Amazing Base powder. It is simply so quick and easy to use, and the powder is so fine it gives you a natural look without setting into the fine lines. Unfortunately I’ve lost the lid to the powder brush, so I’ll have to be careful when packing it! RRP: Refillable Brush: $45.00, Amazing Base Powder: $79.00



ELES Mineral Makeup Blush in Coral Sun

This would have to be one of my my most reached for blushes. The peachy-pink shade simply instantly gives my dull and drab looking face some much needed spark, thanks to the lightly shimmery formula. And as all the other products I’ve picked out, I can trust that it will stay put without fading of sliding off my face during the day. RRP: $39.50


Ere Perez Clever Carrot Cheek & Lip Balm
If I am wearing the BB Cream, and not the full covering foundation from Elizabeth Arden, then I really like the more natural blushed cheek look that I get from using the Clever Carrot Cheek & Lip Balm from Ere Perez. It is super quick to blend into your cheeks with your fingers for a sheer non-makeup natural look. And clever as it is, you can simply swipe any remains of the cream onto your lips, for a beautiful lip stain. RRP: $27.95

Jane Iredale Rose Dawn Bronzer
Another Jane Iredale favourite that will make it into the cosmetic bag is the Rose Dawn Bronzer. This bronzer contains four different colours, and combined, it gives the skin a beautiful glow. And I love that you can also use the colours individually on both cheeks and eyes, should I feel like it! RRP: $90.00


Jane Iredale Pommisst Hydration Spray Finally, I will also be packing the Pommisst Hydration Spray from Jane Iredale as it not only helps set your makeup, but it also gives it a more natural and dewy look, all while feeling refreshing tired skin, soothing dry skin and adding some much needed moisture. RRP: $39.00



Clinique Chubby Stick in Lots o’ Latte
I doubt that I will be feeling like doing a full on eye makeup up, so that’s where I rely on this Chubby eye shadow stick from Clinique. The shade Lots o’ Latte is a gorgeous mid-brown shimmery shade that I find myself using on its own all the time when I’m in a hurry, so it is the perfect shade to bring, as one swipe, followed with a quick blend with my fingers, is all it takes. L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Blockbuster
One thing that I never fail to do is my eyes, as I simply feel I look so much more awake and fresher when they are done. And one of my favourites is the Liquid Super Liner Blockbuster from L’Oreal. The large texta like pen, quickly and easily draws a line, and I can trust that it will stay put all day. RRP: $16.95


L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Silkissime
Another trusted favourite from L’Oreal is the Silkissime eyeliner for below the last line. Again, it is quick and easy to use, without dragging or pulling my eye area, and although I’ve got sensitive eyes that water easily (and let’s face it, I may become a little teary at the arrival of our little bub), but I can always trust this eyeliner to stay without smudging. RRP: $22.95

Max Factor Excess Volume Mascara
This mascara is huge, about twice the size as any other mascara. But so are the results. The two step mascara starts with the Extreme Volume building end that helps quickly add volume to even the sparsest of lashes, while the Dark Lacquer end ensures that your lashes have a nice glossy finish. And one quick coat of each end is all that it takes for a natural look, while you can of course add a few more coats for a more dramatic look. $26.95


Benefit Gimme Brow
Serial over-plucking of my brows years ago, now means that they are thinner and sparser than I really like, so a good brow product is a necessity. The Gimme Brow from Benefit, is the perfect choice, as the mascara style wand is quick and easy to swipe across your brows for instantly fuller, yet natural looking brows that at the same time stays in place thanks to the added gel. RRP: $35.00


Covergirl Colorlicious lipgloss
And of course I cannot neglect my lips, so I will be bringing these Colorlicious Lipglosses from Covergirl with me. The Give Me Guava is a medium shade warm pink with a gloss sheen, that on the lips shows up as a barely there shade with just the glossy sheen. The Berrylicious shade is a slightly darker warm mauve shade, in case I feel like something a little darker, yet still while being a quite subtle and muted shade. And being lip glosses they are quick and easy to apply, and feels lovely and non – sticky on the lips. RRP: $16.95

 
Sisley Paris Phyto Lip Shine
And last but not least, because I can never leave the house without a larger selection of lip products (last time I emptied out my handbag (read nappy bag), I found no less than 8 different lipsticks and lipglosses, as well as I also always have a couple stashed away in my car, just in case! So just got to bring at least one more, and cannot go past one of my current favourites, the Sisley Phyto Lip Shine in Sheer Berry. This lip shine is a combination of a lip balm and a lip stain, leaving the lips soft and hydrated which will be so lovely in the dry hospital air, all while giving the lips a beautiful sheer stain with a subtle sheen. RRP: $50So there you go, the makeup I'll be taking with me to hospital...hope I haven't forgotten anything!!

PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OREAL PARIS COLOUR RICHE LE VERNIS THE SHADES OF GREY COLLECTION

50 Shade of Grey – the book that has taken the whole world by storm. I think I am about the only female yet to read it. Not in connection with the movie premiere, L’Oreal Paris is launching a limited edition of nail polish shades, called The L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Vernis Shades Of Grey Collection;

What I Say:

I don’t like the thought of autumn and winter being just around the corner, but I do love grey. And other than black, it is the colour that is most dominant in my wardrobe, simply because these shades are so easy to dress up any way you like with different accessories. And therefore, some good quality basics in these shades will also last you for years! So I am excited to hear that grey is the ‘master colour of autumn 2015’. And this limited edition collection of nail polishes will be absolutely perfect to bring your nails right on trend too.

Colour Riche Le Vernis The Shades of Grey Collection include a combination of texturised latex, wax, metallic & spiky, all in the grey spectrum.

I have seen that in other countries more shades have been launched, but in Australia, the collection includes the following shades;

• Aux Chandelles – Light-grey with wax effect, and a semi-matte finish
• Mademoiselle Grey – Mid-Grey with latex effect
• Do Not Disturb – Mid-Grey metallic with spiky effect, with small glitter particles, and a ‘sandpaper feel’
• Totally D’Accord – Dark-Grey with metallic spiky effect, with medium sized glitter particles and a ‘Sandpaper feel’
• Secret Wish – Dark-Grey metallic with a ‘sandpaper feel’
• Power Potion – Very Dark-Grey with a subtle metallic sheen

As always, the nail polishes have a lovely consistency and are easy to apply thanks to the wide brush and the intense pigments, although most colours still require two coats for a solid look. In saying that, the shades and formulas are all slightly different thanks to their finish, so they also vary in how easy they are to apply (and also remove, the glitter ones always seem to take longer!), and especially the shade Totally D’Accord seems to be somewhat thinner and a third coat would be ideal, as well as the lightest shade, Aux Chandelles, does seem to go on a little streaky (and it doesn’t help that I’m not that good at applying nail polish either!)

 

The nail polishes also have a build-in top coat that give then a nice glossy finish, except for Aux Chandelles, which has a semi-matte finish. They last reasonably well on the nails, approx. 4 days before they start to chip at the edges, although the ones with glitter and sandpaper effect seem to start chipping slightly earlier.

Overall this is a beautiful range, and I hope the shades would be here to stay. I particularly love Mademoiselle Grey, Do Not Disturb and Secret Wish, although, all the colours are stunning and sure to be a bit hit!
