PRODUCT REVIEW: BELLABOX MAY 2017
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (+) - Sample size, 3ml (RRP: $29.90 / 40ml)
I absolutely love this moisturiser that helps correct the appearance of imperfections, unclog blocked pores and fight against redness and blemishes. This non greasy moisturiser makes such a significant difference to my skin, and I love that it is non-greasy too, as it is designed for oily and acne prone skin, so it is also perfect as a base for makeup. I have just run out, and not had a chance to purchase a new tube, so this little tube will help until I can get my hands on a new one, but naturally I wouldn’t have minded a slightly bigger sample.
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (+) Unfiant - Sample size, 3ml (RRP: $29.90 / 40ml) This is a new addition to the range, which now also comes with a light sheer tint available in two different shades. I immediately fell in love with this one too, a corrective cream that gives you coverage, doesn't get better than that, so I cannot get my hands on a full sized tube fast enough. Again, I would naturally have loved a bigger sample, but there is sufficient in the tube to try out a few times, so you can really get a feel for what it is like.
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche SKinScent - Sample size 1.5ml (RRP: $95 / 50ml)
This is such a gorgeous warm citrus scent that immediately takes you back to the warm summer days. A beautiful fragrance that I wouldn't mind getting a full sized bottle off.
Kerastase Disipline Spray Fluidissime - Sample, 45ml (RRP: $46 / 150ml)
This is a leave-in anti-frizz spray that is so good. The spray is so easy to spray and work into damp hair, and the results are amazing. It simply leaves the hair so soft and shiny, while it keeps frizz at bay too and protecting it during heat styling too. And all while leaving the hair smelling absolutely amazing. I already have a full sized bottle of this, and have been loving it so much that I have been considering a repurchase, that's how good this stuff is.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleaner - Sample, 30ml (RRP: $25.70 / 1litre)
Who doesn't love this super gentle cleanser, which is perfect for even the most sensitive of skins. I actually also like using this to clean my makeup brushes, as I know it will also be gentle on them too.
Colourpop Hello Kitty Ultra Glossy Lip - Full Sized
Now for the exciting news - everyone will be getting a Colourpop lip product in their May Bellabox. This incredible LA brand has a huge cult following - and I for one has been keen to try out some of their products - and now I can. And I have to say that I am already in love too and can understand what all the hype is about. I got the shade Hello Pretty, which is a bright darker fuchsia pinky-red shade with micro shimmer, and feels lovely on the lips, being non-sticky and with a nice high gloss. Very excited to have tried something from the brand, finally - though now just even keener to try more of their products..
So there you go, the contents of the May '17 Bellabox. And again I am very impressed - in fact, I think this is one of the best boxes (albeit only few so far) I have received. I love and will use every single item. Yes, I already know several of them, such as the Cetaphil Cleanser, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (+) and the Kerastase Disipline Spray Fluidissime, so I guess you can say that from that point of view, there is not much new to the box, but regardless, it is products that I truly love, so I honestly don't mind, and that said, the fact that I know I will use every single item, makes this month's box great value. And on top, I am so excited about the new tinted version of the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (+), and needless to say, the Colourpop Lip Gloss as well. Well done Bellabox, you've really hit the mark this month!

THREE OF A KIND: THERMAL HAIR STYLING PRODUCTS
Today on the blog I’m looking into three different products
to help protect your hair from thermal damage when you are using heat styling
products such as hair dryers, straighteners, and curlers. I have to be honest
and admit that I do not heat style my hair on a daily basis. Not because I
don’t want to. But as a stay-at-home mum, I simply see no need to. And besides,
having long and thick hair, it does take quite a while, time I simply often
have with a toddler running around my legs demanding attention. But on the days
where I do style my hair, and not just put it up in the usual bun on top of my
head, these are my current go to products;
Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique

Suigo Hairlook Arts S03 Thermal Protection
This Thermal Protection spray from Suigo, has the cutest
bottle and packaging of the products I’m mentioning today, although at the same
time, it is also the smallest. The Thermal Protector, is in actual fact a multi-tasking
product, as it not only protects the hair from heat and UV damage, but at the
same time, as it also contains aloe extract, it is also hydrating and
moisturising on the hair. It leaves the hair feeling soft and shiny, with a
flexible hold, and any sign of frizz is more or less eliminated, without
leaving behind a greasy residue. The spray bottle makes it easy to dispense
just the right amount, and I love the fresh fruity scent that smells a little
like peaches, and it leaves the hair beautifully scented for hours.
RRP: $21.50 (100ml) – Available from Suigo
Muk Hot Muk Thermal Protection
This thermal protection spray from Muk provides the hair
with protection from heat styling tools up to 230 degrees. You just need a few
sprays of the fine mist, and after styling your hair is left with a nice
non-greasy finish with a beautiful healthy shine. It also contains UV filters
so it helps protect your hair from sun damage, and seals the hair to protect
from frizz at the same time. Of today’s line-up it has the most beautiful scent
of green apples, which I just can’t get enough of, so luckily it does linger
around in the hair long after you’ve finished styling it. I love the silver
bottle with the trigger nozzle that makes it easy to dispense. It comes in a
huge bottle, and is hence also very reasonably priced, the cheapest of the
three!

Finally, the Nutritive Nectar Thermique from Kerastase is
the most expensive of the three products. And unlike the other two, it comes in
a tube and has a creamy texture, much like a conditioner or a leave-in
treatment. And as it has been formulated with Royal Jelly extract and contains
carbohydrates, proteins and lipids, it actually doubles as a leave-in treatment
as well, and I’ve found myself using it also on the days where I am not heat
styling my hair, instead of my usual leave-in conditioner just after washing my
hair. The treatment is extremely concentrated, so you only need a little, and
you have to be very cautious not to use too much, as otherwise it will leave
the hair feeling a little greasy, but really that is only a good things, as it
will make the tube last so much longer. Used as a heat protectant, it leaves
your hair so soft and healthy and shiny looking, even my ends are clearly
benefitting from this treatment when used frequently.

PRODUCT REVIEW: KERASTASE DISCIPLINE
Over the years I’ve tried countless of haircare products and brands, and one that always stod out as one of the best was Kerastase. So when I was asked to trial some newly launched products I happily accepted. Here are my thoughts on the Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo* and the Discipline Maskertine*;
What They Say:
Kérastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo has been designed for chemically treated and over-processed hair. The soft, creamy, pearlescent formula contains morpho-keratin™, which acts as a surface protector and conditions the hair fibre. The shampoo also helps to preserve the longevity of colour pigments and extends the shine for colour treated hair.
RRP: $42 (250ml) – Available from Select Hair Salons
Kerastase Discipline Maskertine is a deep conditioning hair mask helps restore moisture and rejuvenate damaged hair. The hair mask has been formulated with nourishing lipid agents, which helps to condition and soften the hair. The hair mask is best suited for very damaged and thicker hair types.
RRP: $60 (200ml) – Available from Select Hair Salons
What I Say:
This new Discipline range of products has been launched to mark the 50th anniversary of Kerastase Paris, with the products designed to tame even the most unruly hair while restoring and repairing, creating shiny, smooth, fluid hair.
Discipline helps to tame the hair fibres on two different levels: in-depth for a solid structure and on the surface for flawless finish.
Hair fibre is restored in three actions:
1. Fibre replenishment with amino acids naturally found in the hair; glutamic acid, serine and arginine
2. Fibre smoothing with a wheat protein derivative
3. Fibre strengthening with Ceredmide R
Hair is then repaired with polymers for two benefits:
1. Hair surface regulation and smoothing, just like a top-coat
2. Anti-humidity action with a second skin water resistance
Sounds pretty high-tech to me, but sounds pretty darn good to me!
The Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo is made for sensitised and over processed hair, containing Morpho-KeratineT that acts as a surface protector preserving the intensity of the pigments and extends the shine of colour treated hair - and as I’ve just had my hair coloured, which I was so overdue for, timing couldn’t be better.
The shampoo itself is pearlescent, thick and creamy, and unlike most other sulfate free shampoos it actually lathers up quite easily. And just one wash is sufficient to make my hair feel clean, without making it squeak, which I don’t really like when that happens. And even before I use conditioner, I can feel that it is silky soft.
The shampoo is very concentrated and you only need to use a little, even in my long and thick hair, and even though I only wash my hair about every second day, one wash is also more than enough to make my hair feel clean.
The Kérastase Discipline Maskertine contains a high concentration of nourishing lipid agents, to offer in-depth damage repair. The packaging unfortunately doesn’t state how long the mask needs to be left in the hair for optimal results, so I have tried using it for just 4-5 minutes as well as about 15-20min.
And while it of course gives the hair a very intense treatment left in for longer, after just the 4-5mins I can really feel the goodness of the mask being absorbed into my dry hair. It is easy to rinse out, and you don’t feel you have a greasy residue left behind that you just cannot rinse out.
My hair is so easy to comb, and once left to dry naturally, it feels so silky soft and smooth that I cannot stop myself from running my hands through it. And it is not just soft, I also seem to have significantly less frizz and flyaways, and even the look of broken hairs sticking out throughout my long hair that was previously visible, not seems to be smoothed down as well. The ends no longer feels dry and damaged. And then there’s the shine. It simply looks so incredibly shiny and healthy.
And I can’t stop smelling it either, as luckily the beautiful floral scent remains in the hair for long after it has dried.
And even on the second day, which is when my hair is often looking the most fizzy, my hair is still looking shiny and clean, and with considerably less frizz than normal.
The shampoo comes in an oval shaped bottle and the mask in a tub, both in a pretty girly peachy-pink shade with rose-gold screw lids. On the shampoo, while I love the bottle, I would have preferred if it came with a flip lid as I generally find that easier to use in the shower when you’ve got wet hands. And as for the mask, while the tub is easy to use and you can use up every last bit in it, I always find that I get water into them, and hence they get diluted (maybe I should just learn to turn off the water as I apply the mask, hmmm), so I would generally prefer and find a tube much easier to use.
Unfortunately both products also contains silicone, but luckily I have so far not noticed it build up or weigh down my hair.
Kerastase make some big promises saying that the products will help discipline and give you more obedient hair, and I have to say that Kerastase really has nailed this one. I have never had particularly unruly hair, but my hair really easier to manage. It seem to have more bounce, without weighted down, and it has less frizz so I feel I need to use less styling products, and it simply just looks and feels healthier. Highly recommended!

WINTER CARE FOR HAIR
The cold winter temperatures often leaves skin, hair and
body feeling and looking worse for wear, so in a series of posts I will running
you though some of the products that help me get though the cold months. In the
first part I was concentrating on hands,
nails and feet, and today I will be focusing on products that will help keep
your hair looking healthy this winter;
Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautyfying Oil Masque*
This intense hair masque contains from maize, pracaxi, argan and camellia oils, and also contains moisturising serum and lipidic compounds to give the hair extra nourishment. It is so thick and creamy, and extremely concentrated, so about two table spoons full is more than sufficient for my long (below my bra strap) and very thick hair. And after leaving it in for 5-10 minutes or so, or for even more intense nourishment, I leave it in my hair for 20-30 minutes with either a shower cap (those disposable ones you find in hotel rooms are so brilliant for this), or alternatively use cling wrap – and once rinsed out, my hair is left feeling extremely smooth and so soft to touch, and so incredibly shiny and healthy looking – and with the most beautiful and delicate scent which no doubt comes from the added Camellia oil. The hair Masque comes in a plastic tub with a gold screw lid, which makes it look as luxurious as it makes your hair feel.

Kevin Murphy Fresh.Hair*
Having so long hair, means that washing it takes quite a while, and drying it afterwards even longer – time which I haven’t got with a toddler. Obviously I wash my hair, usually every second day, and when I do, I generally let it dry naturally instead of using the hair dryer, which I am sure is quite beneficial for the health of my hair. But on the days I don’t wash my hair, I generally rely on a dry shampoo to make my hair feel, look and smell fresher, and the Fresh.Hair from Kevin Murphy really does make my hair feel almost as clean as washing it, almost, and a couple of seconds and a few sprays is all that it takes.
Fresh.Hair has a gentle subtle scent, and unlike other dry shampoos, it doesn’t leave my hair looking matte with the tell-tale sign that a dry has been used, but rather it leaves my hair with a nice shine, and some much needed body and volume too. Absolutely brilliant must-have item, including for those mornings when you’ve hit the snooze button once too many times.

I have previously declared my devoted love for the amazing products from bhave, including this Fresh Ends Leave-In Crème (check out my full review here), which contains among others certified organic argan oil, macadamia oil, aloe vera and replicine functional keratin not only moisturise, nourish and add shine, but also give the hair strength and elasticity to help prevent hair breakage.
Fresh Ends is free from chemical nasties including parabens, sulphates and sodium chloride, and comes in a luxurious and stylish looking silver jar, with a nifty pump function. And it is the perfect product for using in the ends of the hair, both when wet and when dry, to prevent split ends, smooth down frizz, prevent heat damage when using hot styling tools, and simply add moisture to the hair to leave it looking healthy and shiny.

These products are designed for hair that has been chemically treated, and perfect for straight hair, so they are the perfect for my long straight-ish coloured hair. The shampoo is lathers up easily to a soft lather that gently cleanses your hair and scalp while the conditioner is rich and so moisturising, yet without weighing my hair feel heavy. After use, hair is easier to comb and it looks shiny and healthy, and with minimal frizz. The products come in simple, yet modern lime green bottles which will look amazing in any bathroom, and they have an incredibly gorgeous minty scent with a slight citrusy undertone from the added essential oils used, and this scent also lingers in your hair once washed and dry.
I also love that the products have added UV protection so they help protect my coloured hair from fading, as it is so rare these days that I can be bothered to sit half a Saturday in the chair at the hairdresser to get it coloured, that I want to ensure the colour stays bright and vibrant for as long as possible. The UV protection is also perfect to protect your locks from drying out under the harsh Australian summer sun.

we weren’t giving away; give you an inch and you take a mile!!! You already get

humour, such a refreshing change. And especially when the lighweight leave-in
treatment leaves my hair feeling so soft, quickly transforming dry ends to

Dove Pure Care Dry Oil For Hair*
With the wet weather during winter, my hair always tends to
become more frizzy, and feel drier too, so I always rely on hair oils, and the
Pure Care Dry Oil from Dove a good suggestion. It contains African Macadamia Oil and just
a few drops spread through my hair is giving it much needed moisture boost,
while leaving it feeling incredibly soft and shiny, and without weighing it down
or making it feel greasy. It is fantastic to use after washing your hair as a
leave-in treatment, and also on the days you don’t wash your hair for extra
moisture and to tame frizz. And you can even use it before washing your hair as
a treatment, by applying a generous amount and leaving it in for up to
30minutes before washing. It has an exquisite warm floral scent and the heavy

If you can afford to splurge a little more, you really
cannot go past this hair oil from Wella that can be used in both wet and dry
hair. As the name suggests it really is luxurious thanks to a blend of three
oils; argan, jojoba almond oil to help provide nutrition and hydration to the
hair, while protecting the keratin in the hair, and locking in moisture and
strength by forming a protecting layer around each hair strand. Just a few
pumps makes my long hair so smooth and look incredibly shiny and healthy, yet
without making the hair feel greasy or weighing it down, and it leaves behind
the beautiful sweet almond scent.

Having so long and thick hair, I don’t use a lot of styling products in my hair as often I find that they simply just make my hair tangled and difficult to comb out at the end of the day, - so the products I usually use on a daily basis apart from a leave-in moisturiser, and a shine serum or oil treatment, is a hair spray to help tame those annoying flyways around especially my face. My hair is also often quite tangled when I have washed my hair –especially right now as I am extremely overdue for a haircut, so my long hair tends to get a little knotty at the dry ends. I must admit that when I saw the brush, and felt the soft bristles, I thought that there was no way it would be able to comb through my thick long hair. But how wrong was I.
