Can you believe it, another month has passed, and thankfully it is now officially spring, though it would be nice if the weather would acknowledge that too, and give us some warmer weather! A new months also means a new Bella Box, and the September 2017 Bella Box has the theme Front Row Fab... 

Let's see what was in this month's box.. 

John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Leave In Cream Primer - Sample, 20mlg (RRP: $16.99 / 100ml)

I only recently put a few of the other products from this range to the test, and really liked them, so happy with the inclusion of this. I am always looking for a good leave-in, and this one promising to eliminate frizz and keep the hair smooth, sounds pretty good to my ears. Cant wait to try it. Product value approx. $3.40


Derma E Purifying 2 in 1 Charcoal Mask - Sample, 14g (RRP: $34.95 / 48g)

With a skin prone to breakouts, I am always looking for a great mask, and this mask does sound great. It is infused with charcoal, natural clays and antioxidants and promises to remove excess oil while exfoliating the skin, for a fresher, and healthier glow. I am also excited about this as this brand is completely new to me. Bring on pamper night! Approx. value $10.20


Avene Extremely Gentle Cleansing Lotion - Sample, 25ml (RRP: $31.95 / 200ml)
I have previously tried this cleanser from an inclusion in a beauty subscription box, so as such it doesn't really excite me. That said, I actually quite like this gentle cleanser, so on the other hand, I don't mind that its included. it is efficient, and leaves my skin feeling soft and calm. The small bottle is also perfect for travelling. Approx. value $3.99


Stylondon Siligel Blender - Full size (RRP: $14 / one blender)
Silicone makeup blenders is all the rave at the moment, so the inclusion of this one is very fitting. This one is very cute with its pastel pink glittery design. I like the idea that it can easily be cleaned, and thus is so much more hygienic than a standard makeup sponge. I am yet to try a silicone sponge, so look forward to seeing how I go. Value $14.00


ModelCo Instant Brow Retractable Pencil - Full Size (RRP: $16 / 1g)
After years of over-plucking, I am always looking for great brow products - and admit that in spite of all the rave reviews, I have tried very few products from ModelCo. So I am quite excited to be putting this brow pencil to the test. It has a wind-up pencil at one end with a pointed tip to make it easy to fill in the brows, and in the other end, it has a nifty spoolie to brush brows into shape afterwards. Certainly a great inclusion. Can't wait to try it out. Value $16.00


Bonus - Swisspers Original Facial Wipes - sample pack/one wipe.
As I've said many times before, I am not a huge user of facial wipes, only when I'm travelling which these days I don't do a lot - so not too excited about this one. That said, I have tried the Swisspers wipes before and they are lovely, and the single wipe, will be handy to pop into the handbag for emergencies too.


So there you go, this months Bella Box. From a novelty aspect, two brands are new to me, Derma E and Styllondon, which is great, as for me, beauty boxes is also about getting to know new brands. In general I am happy with the included products, and look forward to putting most to the test. And from a variety point of view, I also like the selection this month, which ranges from makeup hair care and skincare. I also think it is great that there are a two full sized products included, the ModelCo Pencil and the Siligel Blender, and the rest of the samples are of a decent deluxe size giving you a fair opportunity to test out a product to see if you like it. Value wise, due to the two full sized products, the value is also quite decent this month at approx. $47, which is pretty good considering the $17.95 cost of the box. So well done Bella Box on putting together a fantastic box yet again this month.

PRODUCT REVIEW: JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ EASE

Today I'm going to talk about the newly formatted and designed products from the John Frieda Frizz Ease range.. 

The John Frieda Frizz Ease range has been designed to help combat frizz to make women create the hairstyle they desire from curly to wavy, sleek and straight. There are many different reasons why hair becomes frizzy, and causes can range from humidity, rain, heat styling and hair colouring, but the John Frieda have thought about it all, with specific products for every concern, and today I'm going to talk about some of these products..

The John Frieda Frizz Ease® Miraculous Recovery® Shampoo and Conditioner have targeted Anti-Damage Technology that helps moisture and nourish the hair while repairing split ends and surface damage, in fact, it promises to reverse 75% of the surface damage on your hair, while also building a resilience to frizz over time for hair that is 3x smoother. The products have a gorgeous subtle warm fragrance that just gorgeous. These products are perfect for coloured hair such as mine, which always send to get a little frizzier during the winter months. However, since using this duo, I have noticed that my hair is not only feeling silky soft and smooth, I have definitely also seen a definite reduction in the amount of frizz that I get.

Then there's the John Frieda Frizz Ease® Extra Strength 6 Effects™ + Serum, which is a hair treatment that has the highest concentration of frizz fighters in the Frizz Ease range. It is enriched with silk proteins to fight frizz by blocking out humidity, tame and smooth coarse unmanageable hair, as well as work as a defence to weather and thermal protectant while heat styling for all hair types. Oh, and it hydrates dry ends to!. The serum is quite light and non greasy, but also very concentrated, so you only need to use a little ( I need two pumps in my long thick hair), but go slow, as if you use too much, your hair will end up greasy. It is best used in wet hair. It comes in a convenient pump bottle with a unique inner core, which does make it quite cool, but also bigger than it really is.

John Frieda Frizz Ease® Secret Weapon Finishing Creme is intended to be applied to dry hair, and immediately transform dry and parched hair into smooth, supple and shiny hair. The treatment creme helps replace natural oils lost due to blow-drying and daily stress, tear and wear of the hair, and it helps smooth dullness and split ends too. And as it also adds moisture to the hair thanks to the added avocado oil, and it leaves the hair looking glossy, it also immediately looks so much nicer and healthier too. I love the scent of this treatment, and that I can use it on the days I don't wash my hair to freshen up my hair. It is very concentrated so you only need a little, yet it is also super light, and non-greasy too, so it won't leave your hair looking greasy or weigh it down.

Finally, there's the John Frieda Frizz Ease® Dream Curls Styling Form. And let me start by saying that I normally have fairly straight long hair, although it for some reason, after my second pregnancy, has started going a little curly in the back, while the rest of my hair remains straight. At the moment, it is still more straight than curly (or guess I should call it curvy), but I have been experimenting a little with this styling foam that promises to help enhance and create soft touchable waves that look natural, and I really like the look of what it does to my hair, just very unfortunate that the front part of my hair remains straight! To encourage some waves in that part of the hair too, I have been trying to apply the foam at night, before putting my hair into a plait (which I always do at night as it is so long), and when I wake in the morning, it really looks great, with natural waves, that look healthy and shiny! I'll continue to experiment with this styling foam in my confused hair, but if you've got wavy or curly hair, you should check this one out. It smells absolutely amazing too!

PRODUCT REVIEW: JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ-EASE HAIR THERMAL PROTECTION FORMULA SERUM

I always do my best to look after my long hair, getting it trimmed regularly, and trying hard to remember giving it a frequent treatment. But even so, I still struggle with frizz, which is only made worse by the very hot and humid weather we’ve had here in Melbourne recently. So I happily accepted when I was asked to trial the *John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Thermal Protection Formula Serum, here are my thoughts;

 

 

What They Say:

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection Formula protects against damage and colour fading caused by heat-styling and UV exposure. Suitable for all types of hair and inspired by John Frieda salon experts, this exceptional hair serum instantly shields all hair types against the damaging effects of heat styling and UV exposure that lead to frizz. Daily use smoothes, shines and prolongs colour. Use on towel-dried hair, can also be used on dry hair.

What I Say:

The John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Thermal Protection Formula Serum not only helps to reduce frizz and leave your hair shiny and silky, it is also designed to protects your hair from heat damage during heat styling as well as minimise colour fading.

The serum comes in a small clear pump bottle, which makes it very easy to use. And don’t be fooled by the small bottle, this stuff is seriously concentrated. If you use too much, or get it too closer to the roots, it will make your hair look so greasy. But that is of course only a good thing as it will make the bottle last so much longer.

Always one for multi-tasking products, I like that this serum can be used in both wet and dry hair. In wet hair, it can be used prior to drying the hair or straightening, to protect from heat damage, and in dry hair, it works brilliantly to smooth down the hair, and minimise any frizz, and not to mention give the hair an amazing shine, which all in all makes the hair look so healthy.

And I love that when it is used as a heat protectant when I heat style my hair, with this serum, I don’t also have to follow with a frizz serum, so talk about multi-tasking. And I generally wash my hair every second day, and on those days, the serum works a treat to freshen up my dry hair, and making it look as if it has been just washed.  And it does all of this without weighing my hair down.

 

I have very long (at least two inches below my bra strap, and that’s even after getting over two inches cut off just prior to Christmas!) and it is very thick too (even in spite of having gone through months of losing countless hairs daily after giving birth), yet just two tiny pumps is all that is required for my hair.

I simply rub the serum between my hands and distribute throughout my hair, again avoiding the roots, and concentrating on the ends of my hair. Rub hands together and distribute evenly throughout hair.

 

What I Like:

• A true multi-tasking product that can be used in wet and dry hair, as a heat protectant and to smooth out frizz and give shine to the hair
• Very concentrated, so the small bottle will last forever
• Comes in a small pump bottle that is easy to use

 

What I Don’t Like:

• It does contain silicones, which I would prefer if it didn’t, but so far I have not noticed that it is building up in my hair, or weighing it down.

 

All in all this Frizz-Ease Hair Thermal Protection Formula Serum from John Frieda is a fantastic product, which does exactly what it claims to do, so if you are looking for a multi-tasking product to both protect your hair and combat frizz, then I highly recommend that you try it.

PRODUCT REVIEW: JOHN FRIEDA BRILLIANT BRUNETTE COLOUR PROTECTING MOISTURISING SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

Today I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the *John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Moisturising Shampoo & Conditioner;

What I Say:

I have brown hair, but for years I have had it coloured with blonde, red and caramel shaded tiny highlights throughout, and while that does give my otherwise dull brown hair a little more dimension, I was still excited to be trialling the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Moisturising Shampoo & Conditioner.

The Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Moisturising Shampoo & Conditioner is for all types of brunette hair, both natural and colour treated. And I have to be honest and admit that I feared that it would actually colour my hair, or at least the blonde highlights of my hair, but of course I didn’t need to fear, as the products merely bring out the colour and shine in the hair.

The Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Moisturising Shampoo has a thick and creamy, and it lathers up quickly and easily in my hair. Rinsing the shampoo out is fairly easy, and already as you then you can feel the moisturising properties of the shampoo, though I still feel the need to use a conditioner in my long thick hair.

I follow with the conditioner, which is also very thick and creamy, and after leaving it in for a few minutes while I finish the rest of my shower routine, I rinse it out. And it does take a bit to rinse it out, as it feels like there is a bit of residue left in the hair – but once out of the shower, and I have towel dried my hair, it seems to be fine.

 

 

When I start to comb my hair, this is relatively easy, although I do have a few knots to struggle through – but in saying that, I am very overdue for a haircut (it is just so difficult to get it done when you have a baby!), which may explain that – but still I feel that the conditioner could be a little more moisturising.

I usually leave my hair to dry naturally, and once dry, I do notice that my hair has a nice shine to it, and it looks really healthy. My hair feels soft and smooth, and my ends (again due for a good trim), feel relatively moisturised and soft, but I do notice that I have a little frizz, but nothing more than the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum can’t fix (stay tuned for my review shortly!)

In regards to protecting your hair colour from fading, this is really tricky to tell, as I guess in the end of the day, your hair colour is going to fade eventually, and gradually too, so you don’t really notice that gradual change in the colour. But in the period I used the Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Moisturising Shampoo & Conditioner I did not notice that the colour of my hair fade dramatically. On the contrary, as well as adding an incredible shine to my hair, I did feel that the depth of the colour of my hair was improved.

Both the shampoo and the conditioner come in up-side-down tubes with flip lids that make them very easy to use, and they both have a lovely gentle floral scent, which unfortunately more or less disappears once your hair is dry.

What I Like:

• Leaves the hair with a nice shine that makes it look very healthy
• Improves the colour of the hair, making it appear ‘richer’
• Lovely gentle floral scent
• Leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth
• That it is specifically formulated for brown hair (with versions for blonde and red hair also available)

What I Don’t Like:

• Could be a little more moisturising
• It would be nice if the lovely scent stayed in the hair once it is dry

Overall, this shampoo and conditioner works rally well at bringing out the brown tones in your hair, and along with giving your hair extra shine, it makes your hair look very healthy. At $15.99 each the products are on the expensive side for a ‘supermarket’ brand, but on the other hand, if you have brown hair that is a little dull and lacklustre, then I highly recommend that you try it, as you may just be able to stretch that next hair colouring session at the hair dresser, and then it is money well spend!
