PRODUCT REVIEW: PHILIPS SONICARE DIAMONDCLEAN ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH ROSE GOLD EDITION

Isn't anything Rose Gold just all the rave at the moment. And I certainly don't deny that I'm in love too. And now you can add a touch of girlie glam to your dental hygiene routine too, as Philips has just launched a new Sonicare DiamondClean Electric Toothbrush Rose Gold edition. 

I have used an electric toothbrush for as long as I can remember, but I have to say that this is the best one I've ever used. And not just because of the pretty rose gold. 

The toothbrush has a sleek and stylish design, and is perfect for a small female hand. I also love that it has a funky , funky digital display that only illuminates once the power button is turned on.
 

The actual toothbrush uses sonic technology to produce a powerful dynamic cleaning action with five brushing modes to offer a unique full mouth clean.

The brushing modes include; 

• Clean – the standard mode for a whole mouth clean
• White – removes surface stains to whiten teeth
• Polish – brightens and polishes teeth to bring out their natural brilliance
• Gum Care – gently stimulates and massages gums
• Sensitive – an extra-gentle mode for sensitive teeth

 

I have been enjoying using all the modes, except for the sensitive one, but that is only because I do not have sensitive teeth, but otherwise it is certainly a great addition which makes it so much more user-friendly, and suitable for the whole family to use too should you decided to 'share' it. And the combination of brush modes really does mean that your teeth will feel cleaner than ever before, yet while giving the teeth the gentlest brush ever too.

 

Unlike other electric toothbrushes, the Sonicare DiamondClean Electric Toothbrush charges by being placed in the stylish heavy-duty charging glass. The glass is placed on the rose gold holder which you plug in to the power switch, and it's charging. How cool is that. 

 

 

 

 

And no, Philips has obviously also considered that it is not convenient taking a heavy glass with you if you're travelling, so they have also included a stylish pastel pink travel case that stores the toothbrush holder and actual brush - and this travel case also doubles as a charger, as it also comes with a USB cable and plug, so you can simply plug it into your laptop to charge it up. Not that you really need to, as fully charged, the toothbrush will last up to three weeks between charges!!

  

 

 

 

I also love that the toothbrush has a set timer so it will stop when the 2 minute recommended brush time is up, and it has a convenient short ‘buzz’ every 30 seconds so you know that it is now time to move on to the next quadrant of your teeth, to ensure that all your teeth get an equally good clean.

 

The toothbrush is not only extremely stylish looking, but compared to other electric toothbrushes that I've used over the years, it is also very silent too. And it also features some very advanced settings.

 

 

 

 

Philips claims that the toothbrush removes 7x more plaque than a manual toothbrush and that it helps improve gum health in just 2 weeks. And it comes with unique diamond shaped brushes and help remove and reduce stains 2x better for whiter and brighter teeth.  

 

At just under $300 this toothbrush is not cheap, and possibly one of the more expensive ones on the market, I love that it gives my teeth a better clean than any other electric toothbrush I’ve ever used. It difficult to measure if my teeth are writer and brighter, but the key thing is that they are cleaner and healthier – and if using this toothbrush means that it can maintain the health of my teeth better it will long-term help cut down on my dentist bills, making it totally worth every cent!

XMAS GIFT IDEAS: ELECTRICAL GIFT IDEAS FOR HER

There's something about Electrical Gadgets, and I think we can all agree, that they make life a lot easier these days, so today I have a selection of different electrical Xmas gift ideas for her..

Or you can of course store it in the gorgeous pink travel case, that also doubles as a charger when you're on holidays, as then you simply connect it to your laptop, although you don't really need to, as when fully charged, it has a battery life of up to three weeks! For the body, what about this Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa from Braun. It's no secret that using an epilator is my all time preferred hair removal, and this new model tops anything I've ever used. The Silk Epil 9 is a 4-in-1 model that works both wet and dry, and it has pulsating active vibrations to stimulate the skin for a more gentle epilation. It also has 40 micro-grip tweezers to catch even more hair, even very short hair as short as 0.5mm, while the head of the shaver rotates to adapt to the body's contours. It also comes with two exfoliation brushes, a blue one for deep exfoliation to help avoid those dreaded ingrown hairs, and a purple exfoliation head for more sensitive areas, and for a more refined and silky soft skin. This heated ceramic straightening brush straightens your hair as you brush it, all while it detangles it too, and keeps it super smooth and free from frizz thanks to the negative ions that are released as it is used. The bristles in the brush are made from heat activated silicone for additional shine. It also has three heat settings, 180 degrees suitable for fine or short hair, 190 degrees suitable for medium hair types, and 200 degrees for thick, curly or frizzy hair. I like that I can also use this on damp hair, so it saves time first having to dry it, and then straighten it afterwards. And the result is really great, not only is my hair left straight and looking healthy, but brushing it from underneath, it also creates some much needed volume at the same time.
 

Finally, if she is more into luscious curls, what about the Curl Revolution Styling Tong from Remington. This styler has an automatic rotating ceramic tong to make creating anything from a full head of tight curls to loose waves super quick and simple. You simply rotate it one way to roll up the hair, leave for a few moments to 'heat through' before unwinding it. I like to put a little styling mousse in my hair prior to styling it, both to protect my hair from damage, but also to make the waves last longer in my long and heavy hair. Once the hair has cooled down, I gently toussle it, and then give it a light mist with a flexible hairspray, and you're set to go. The ceramic technology helps ensure that it heats up evenly, with variable heat settings between 120C and 200C to cater for various hair types and styles. It heats up super fast, in just 90 seconds, and I really like that it also automatically shuts off, so no need to worry that you forget to do it.

I have always preferred using an electric toothbrush, and have been using one for longer than I can remember. Consequently I have had quite a few different ones over the years, and when they start to age, I never hesitate in spending the money on a new one. The health of my teeth is very important to me. So when I was asked to trial the new Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Black Edition*, I naturally excitedly accepted. Here are my thoughts;

What I Say:


The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Black Edition toothbrush arrived the day before my recent trip to Europe, and as soon as I unpacked it, I immediately understood why it has been called the James Bond of toothbrushes.

With its sleek mixture of matte black finish and chrome, the toothbrush simply so sleek, sophisticated and stylish, and like no other electric toothbrush that I’ve ever seen before. But what’s more is that the toothbrush has a funky visual display that only illuminates once the power button is turned on.

The actual toothbrush uses sonic technology to produce a powerful dynamic cleaning action with five brushing modes to offer a unique full mouth clean.

The brushing modes include;

Unfortunately however, although it does come with two brushes, it doesn’t have a specific spot to store the brushes, other than in the bottom of the included glass, which does a little ‘messy’, as well as unfortunately there is no way to distinguish between the brushes, making it difficult to share the ‘handle’, which I normally do with my husband.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On that note, the tooth brush also has a unique charging system in the shape of a charging glass. When I first saw in in the pack, I thought it was just an addition, a stylish glass for the bathroom, but then I realised that when the toothbrush rests in the glass (and it is obviously plugged in!), it is actually charging! How cool is that!!

 

 

And on the note of charging, the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Black Edition is the perfect travel companion as it comes with a stylish black case, which is lined with a funky lime green colour, - and this case also serves as a USB case which can be plugged into a laptop computer to charge it up. Although, as the toothbrush holds three weeks of charge, you don’t need to use this feature a lot.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So what is my verdict on this toothbrush? – I LOVE it. Again, I have used a fair few different electronic toothbrushes over the years, and this one is by far the best one. It is fairly silent, and I can feel that it cleans my teeth better than any other toothbrush – and a recent checkup at the dentist confirmed that, as for the first time in a long time he commented on how clean my teeth were, and made no mention of the amount of plaque buildup, which he is otherwise quick to do – so showing that the toothbrush is practically doing the job of a hygienist!!

At just under $300 this toothbrush is not cheap, and possibly one of the more expensive ones on the market, and while again I would love for it to include a holder for the brush heads, it is how it actually cleans my teeth that is the most important feature – and that it does better than any other toothbrush I’ve ever used – and if this means that it can maintain the health of my teeth better it will essentially long-term cut down on my dentist bills, making it totally worth every cent! Highly recommended.

TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

As you might have read by now, I am about currently in Europe, more specifically in Denmark visiting my family, along with our 15 month old boy, so that he can meet the rest of the family. Needless to say that I’m enjoying my time.


Getting here was pretty exhausting through, it is a long way to travel with such a little one, trying to keep him entertained all the time, but luckily he was very well behaved and got lots of attention from both flight attendants and fellow travellers too.


Travelling just the two of us suddenly meant that packing was a bit of a challenge, having to suddenly fit enough stuff for both of us into the one suitcase. And well, my boy needed the stuff he needs, including toys, so it meant that I sadly had to restrict the amount of stuff I took along, including shoes, makeup and skincare. It called for very smart packing. Here are some of the things that made the cut;

My skin has always been prone to breakouts, and I know from experience that it can be difficult to keep up a good skincare routine when you’re on holidays, doing weekly face masks etc., so a good cleanser is absolutely vital in keeping my skin clean and clear. And the Medik8 betaCleanse™ is absolutely perfect to use as the second cleanse at night, to give the skin a deep cleanse, as it both cleanses deep down every pore, is antibacterial and gently exfoliating the skin at the same time. Being away for a few weeks of course I cannot neglect shaving, and this funky travel-sided shaver from Gillette is both ever so cute and absolutely perfect. This new razor has a very compact mini-handle, while still featuring the best Gillette Venus 5-blade you’ve become accustomed to, which is surrounded by a ribbon of moisture to keep your skin soft and smooth. And while the handle is so small, you still get the perfect grip. It doesn’t matter how good a foundation you use, a good primer is always vital for a flawless finish. You are probably getting fed up with me raving about these products (you can see my review on the Rescue shampoo and conditioner here and the Riot Control Oil here) from bhave, but regardless how many other fantastic hair products I use, it is like my hair is ‘at home’ with these, simply behaving better, and looking and feeling so much nicer and healthier, and it is like it is getting heathier and healthier for each day I use the products. My hair is easier to comb and knots less, so I feel I damage it less when I comb it. And the Riot Control Oil not only controls my flyaway hairs and smooths it down, but it also makes the dry ends look stronger and healthier while giving my hair an amazing lustre and shine.

Lady Jayne Tangleze*

 

And of course you cannot neglect your hair. I have long thick hair and always carry around a hairbrush, which is usually quite bulky. But thanks to the new Tangleze from Lady Jayne that is a thing of the past. You see, the hairbrush fits into the palm of your hand, and it has a clever cover so you can protect the bristles from getting bent and damaged in an already overfilled handbag.

The Tangleze is surprisingly good on long hair, as it has dual-length bristles that quickly and easily, and very gently brushes the hair, and clears any tangles you might have, and in both wet and dry hair. All without the need to pull or drag at the hair, which is so much better for the hair, preventing damage and split ends. And the hairbrush is superlight (leaving room for another couple of lipsticks, guilty, you can never have too many lippies in your handbag, LOL), and it comes in a super cute and girlie black and hot pink colour combination.

Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush*

I have previously reviewed (you can see my review here) this facial cleansing brush, and while I have to be honest and admit that I have a few different I rotate, this one was my preferred choice to take away. Now, I wouldn’t normally take it with me on short breaks, but going away for a month, I simply feared my skin would start breaking out so much that I knew it had to make the trip too. So the reason I picked the VisaPure is that its design is a lot slimmer than other brushes. The brush is both rotating and rotating cleansing deep down every pore, while still being so gentle that it can be used twice a day. And as a bonus it is also waterproof so it can also be used in the shower.

Mary Kay Thinking of You Pendant Perfume*
 

I have also previously reviewed this pendant perfume from Mary Kay (see my review here), and as I mentioned at the time, it is perfect for taking with you for adding a little fragrance during the day. And also doubling as a necklace, it was the perfect travel companion too. It has a lovely fruity scent and has a pretty good staying power, plus it looks stunning too, for both day and nighttime wear.

Product Review: Colgate ProClinical A1500 Electric Toothbrush

I have always been fond of my teeth. Growing up in Denmark, you automatically start seeing a dentist when you are very young, and from then on you always get check-ups every 6 months. And the best part of this is that it is free – completely free until you turn 18 years old, and even after that it is subsidised by the government. So I’ve grown up caring for my teeth every day. And pretty much as soon as the electric toothbrushes hit the market, I just had to have one. And now, years – sorry decades on, I have lost count of how many electric toothbrushes I’ve owned. What I Say:

For the past month I’ve been using the Colgate ProClinical A1500 Electric Toothbrush, and I have noticed a big difference in how clean my teeth have been feeling in that period. And the other day I went to the dentist for a check-up, and he commented too on how clean my teeth were, and that I appeared to have significantly less plaque than I usually do! The A1500 toothbrush charges up fast – oh, and don’t forget to let me mention that it already comes pre-charged so you can start to use it straight away. Thanks Colgate, you must have listened – as how frustrating is it to get a new toy, only to have to wait 24 hours while it charges! And the battery life is long too, so you don’t have to re-charge very often.

This toothbrush is so different to all other electrical toothbrushes that I’ve used over the past few decades, as these have always only had rotating brush movements, and this A1500 brush cleans in three ways, side-to-side strokes, mid-speed in-out strokes, fast up-down, - and I really like that it automatically adjust the speed and cleaning mode to ensure my teeth get the best possible clean.

And in spite of all the action and movement, the toothbrush is incredibly sensitive, at no point irritating my mouth of my gums.

Compared to other electric toothbrushes that I’ve used, the brush head is a little different – usually they are round, but this one is more like a mini version of a manual toothbrush – and I like that, as it makes it easier to get to the back of the mouth that is otherwise hard to reach.

And speaking of making it easy to reach, I love the lightweight slimline ergonomic design of the A1500 toothbrush, it is so slender and sits perfectly in my little hand, and the angled toothbrush part, does help make it so much easier to reach into the back of your mouth.

On the negative, I do feel that the A1500 toothbrush is a little noisy, as it has a rather loud high-pitch buzzing sound, and do wish that it would be a little quieter.

And while I am aware that the auto-shut off is designed so you don’t over-brush your teeth, I at times feel that I am not quite finished and just need a few extra seconds, so I would prefer to be able to turn it off manually myself.

Finally, in regards to the on-off button, this is a little too sensitive for my clumsy fingers, and I really have to be careful not to turn it off in the middle of a brush.

What I Like:

• Cleans my teeth so extremely well – to the point of my dentist noticing it
• Is very gentle in spite of the speed and cleaning actions
• Nice ergonomic design that sits nicely in my small hand and is easy to use
• Multiple cleaning functions to suit need and personal preference

What I Don’t Like

• A little noisy due to a high-pitch sound
• Easy to accidentally turn it off during use
• The toothbrush holder has little 'spikes' to hold two brushes, but I would prefer if brushes there was a little compartment where they could be stored, out of the 'elements'
• A little expensive

Phew, that was a long post - thanks for keep reading - there were just so many fantastic features about this toothbrush that I wanted to share!
And overall, I think it is needless to say that my old toothbrush has now been packed away and replaced with the Colgate A1500 toothbrush, as I simply feel it is doing my teeth a world of good. It may be a little expensive at $199, but when you consider the cost of getting your teeth repaired (if you can!) if you don’t look after them, or even getting them cleaned professionally by a hygienist, then it is in my opinion, money very well spent, and in fact, it will end up not only saving you money long term, but it will also keep your teeth looking nicer and being healthier for longer! If you are on the lookout for a new toothbrush, or simply want to start looking after your teeth a little better, then I highly recommend that you try it, you won’t be disappointed.
