Product Review: David Babaii Supreme Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner

I have long hair which is thick, and due to its length it is a little heavy and although it is straight, it does have a bit wave, so I am always looking for new products to not only help maintain my hair, but also help make it smoother and straighter, so I can avoid using my hair straightener. Here are my thoughts of the *David Babaii Supreme Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner;

 

What They Say:

This smoothing duo will gently cleanse the hair, while weightlessly smoothing frizzy, unruly hair. Soothing camomile extract protects the scalp and smoothes the cuticles, while sunflower seed oil adds vibrancy to dull hair colour and seals ends. A phytenso soy complex is a natural hair relaxant that will leave the hair glossy and smooth.

What I Say:

I really like the David Babaii Miracle Oil, and in spite of having tried quite a few hair oils, it remains one of my favourites. But that also meant that I had very high hopes and expectations for the David Babaii Supreme Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner.

The Supreme Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner contain soothing camomile extract to protect the scalp and smoothe the cuticles, sunflower seed oil adds vibrancy and shine to dull hair colour and seals ends, and phytenso soy complex for glossy and smooth hair. Both the shampoo and conditioner have also been formulated without any of the chemical nasties, and hence does not contain sulphates, parabens or petrochemicals.

My long hair is generally it is quite healthy, but due to its length, needless to say that it has been through countless summers, hair colourings and heat sessions, so it is a little dry at the ends with some split ends.

I usually wash my hair every second day, and rarely do I feel that I need to wash it more than once. When shampoos do not contain sulphates I often find that it can often be difficult to get the shampoo to lather properly, but that was not the case with the Supreme Smooth Shampoo. It easily lathered up into soft foam, and just one shampooing was needed to make my hair feel clean, but without my hair feeling squeaky or stripped for moisture.

Afterwards I used the Supreme Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner, which my hair absorbs instantly. After a few minutes I rinsed out the conditioner, which was very easy and quick to do, unlike other conditioners where you keep rinsing and rinsing and keep feeling there is residue left in your hair.

Combing my hair afterwards is so easy as it is free from knots and tangles, and once dry, my hair is left soft, and is so easy to manage. My hair looks so shiny and healthy, and feels deeply nourished from roots to end yet without being weighed down. Both the shampoo and conditioner come in half-moon shaped bottles bottles with a flip lid at the top. The bottles are brown in a soft suede’ish soft touch feel, which I really like. The look simple and stylish, and actually match the décor of my bathroom.

The bottles have a small pale blue bar on the middle of the bottle with the name Supreme Smooth, and then either Shampoo or Conditioner in quite small writing – and wearing glasses, it is actually rather difficult for me to distinguish between the two in the shower when I am not wearing my glasses!

Another thing that I have found a little annoying is the fact that the shampoo bottle seems to be leaking at the top, so that after you have used it, shampoo runs down the front of the bottle, not only making the bottle quite greasy, but also making a mess of my shower!

 

 

Both the shampoo and the conditioner have a nice floral scent, which is very pleasant and far from overpowering. And once my hair is washed and dry, it smells absolutely gorgeous, yet again without being too intense or overpowering. 

All in all I have enjoyed using the David Babaii Supreme Shampoo and Conditioner, and how the products make my hair feel and look so healthy and shiny, so at just $19.95 each they are a great buy!

Screen Actors Guild Awards 2013 – How to get Nicole Kidman’s look – How-to by David Babaii

You can always rely on an Awards Season red carpet to roll out the best beauty trends. I am sure most you by now have seen lots of images of the glammed up Hollywood starts at the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2013 today.  And doesn’t Nicole Kidman look absolutely dazzling in the blue lacy Vivienne Westwood dress with a thigh-high slit?!

Personally I think Nicole looked stunning - and while I could never dream of being able to afford the amazing gown, I can at least try to copy her glamorous hair style, as celebrity hairstylist David Babaii has revealed his step-by-step instructions and the products he used to achieve Nicole’s glamorous look..

For the SAG Awards, David showed off Nicole’s new solid bob hair cut with a sleek, super straight look.

"In order to achieve flawless straight hair, control is a must," says David, who started by warming a small amount of Instant Straight Smoothing Balm ($24.50), in the palms of his hands before applying it through the hair.

 

Next, he dried her hair with the nozzle attachment and a large round brush to smooth hair completely straight, sectioning hair first into top, sides and back. To begin, he started by drying the nape area first and then proceeded until her entire head was dry.

 

After creating a side part and to ensure sleek perfection, he finished the hair with IT&LY’s Racing Red Professional 1” Digital Iron before misting Miracle Elixir Hair Oil ($29.95) all over her hair to ensure healthy, sexy shine. “The trick is to spray from arm's length to ensure even, light coverage,” he says.

 

 

Finally, he smoothed away any flyaways by spraying Finished Styling Spray ($24.50) in the palms of his hands and gently patting over the crown.

 

Producer's Guild Awards

The Producer’s Guild Awards was held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 26, 2013 in Beverly Hills, California, and here Nicole Kidman was seen in  L’Wren Scott spring 2013 black lace gown with a peek-a-boo sexy fringe and flirty half up/half down hairstyle. Again, Nicole looked absolutely amazing!

To achieve the look, David blow dried her hair with a mixture of Whipped Volume Styling Mousse ($24.50), and Boho Beach Spray ($24.50). "These products give the hair a medium touchable hold with no build up, plus added shine," says David. Next, using a medium round brush, David created soft curls and a smooth rounded fringe.

 

 

To style, he created a dramatic side part for the fringe, sweeping the hair to one side. At the crown, he lightly back-combed the area and gently smoothed, drawing the sides and top into a sexy poof at the back. The back and nape hair had soft curls using Polished Crème Serum ($24.50) to create style definition. Finally, to finish, David lightly misted the hair with Finished Styling Spray ($24.50).

My Top 5: Favourite Beauty Oils

Years ago I couldn’t imagine using oil for anything but cooking, and with combination skin, often prone to breakouts, definitely not on my face.

Fast track a few years, and I have countless of beauty oils in my bathroom cabinet, as I have realised how beneficial these oils are for skin, body, hair and nails, and yes even for my face.

Here are my favourites.. 

Kosmea Rosehip Oil

I have tried a few other brands of rose hip oil, and I can honestly say that this one from Kosmea so far is the best one of them all!! If you haven’t seen my full review, you can see it here.

I use it only at night, as I feel it is too intense to use during the day under makeup. Just a few drops before my moisturiser, even around the eye area, and the next morning I wake to a skin that is soft, smooth and thoroughly moisturised. It is just glowing and radiant.

My pigmentation has started to fade, and the fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes, look as though they have softened in appearance, as have the scarring from past acne.

Using just a few drops at a time, the 20ml bottle will last you a long time so it is very affordable for such an effective product.

Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil

I absolutely love this body oil, which comes in a handy pump bottle. It has a gorgeous yet subtle powdery floral scent of rose hip. It absorbs quickly into my skin leaving without leaving my skin sticky or greasy, rather it leaves soft and thoroughly moisturised, and with a nice sheen. And as it has significantly reduced the appearance of stretch marks and scars.

This oil is also perfect to add into a running bath, and afterwards my skin is left hydrated and silky soft.

Grown Body Serum with Ylang Ylang, Tamanu & Omega 7

The Grown Body Serum  is very light in texture, and it absorbs quickly into the skin without staining my clothing with oil marks, leaving my skin feeling thoroughly moisturised, soft and glowing , yet without making it feel greasy or sticky.

It is beautifully scented with essential oils rather than synthetic perfume, and it has a gorgeous and natural citrusy/woody/floral fragrance.

And I love that it is made from 100% certified organic ingredients, which are free from lauryl sulphate, glycols, petrochemicals, artificial fragrance, animal derivatives, T.E.A., D.E.A, synthetic colours, silicones and parabens.

David Babaii Miracle Oil

Having now tried several different hair oils, ranging in price from $9.95 to over $60, I have now concluded that the Miracle Oil from David Babaii is my absolute favourite. If you haven’t seen my full review, you can see it here.

The Miracle Oil is one of the few hair oils that I have come across that does not contain harmful toxins, silicone, sulphates, parabens and petrochemicals.

Just a few pumps of the oil after washing my hair, it is so much easier to comb my long and thick hair, and it leaves it soft, shiny and very moisturised. 

I also use the oil as both as a protector prior to heat styling my hair, but also as a shine serum on the days that I do not wash my hair, and the product is making my hair look shiny and healthy while it smooths down any frizz.

Jojoba Oil

The Jojoba oil is such a versatile oil that can be used to It moisturise and nourishes ageing skin, as as a massage oil. It easily removes all traces of even waterproof make-up, without rubbing or pulling and leaving the delicate area soft and moisturised. 

It also works brilliantly as a hair treatment to condition dry hair, and as a nail and cuticle oil, it leaves cuticles hydrated and healthy.

Product Review: David Babaii Miracle Oil

Having long hair, which has been through countless of hair colourings, styling sessions and not to mention quite a few summers of harmful UV rays, my hair is at times looking a little worse for wear, and consequently I have taken a liking to the new hair oils as they make my hair look and feel softer and healthier.

Here’s my review on the Miracle Oil from David Babaii.

What I say:

I generally use this oil after washing my hair, where I use two pumps of the oil in the damp hair before combing and styling it. It makes it so much easier to comb my long and thick hair, and it leaves it soft, shiny and very moisturised. 

I also use the oil as both as a protector prior to heat styling my hair, but also as a shine serum on the days that I do not wash my hair, and the product is making my hair look fantastic.

Another use for the oil treatment is to apply generously to dry hair before washing the hair for an intensive conditioning treatment. And washing the hair, it feels thoroughly moisturised, and even softer, and shinier than ever before, no doubt due to the nourishing qualities of the argan and linseed oils in the oil.

The product comes in a classy black box with gold writing, which screams luxury. Inside is the pump bottle with the golden elixir, which smells fantastic.

I love that the product comes in a pump bottle, it makes it so easy to use, but more importantly, I love that it does not contain harmful toxins, silicone, sulphates, parabens and petrochemicals.
But what's more, David Babaii donates ten percent of all profits to WildAid, the global wildlife conservation organisation to help save endangered animals. I am impressed!

Only a small amount of product is required, so the 120ml bottle will last you a long time.

I have now tried several other great hair oils ranging in price from $9.95 to over $60, however, they all contain chemical nasties, and consequently I have now concluded that the Miracle Oil from David Babaii is the best hair oil that I have tired.

I feel like my hair can't live without this product as it works so well to maintain the moisture of my locks, making it looks healthy and shiny without weighing it down.

Tip: Apply little by little to avoid using too much, and avoid putting the oil too close to the hair roots as it will make your hair look greasy.
