PRODUCT REVIEW: AUSTRALIS COSMETICS AC ON TOUR CONTOURING AND HIGHLIGHTING CREAM KIT

Contouring is still gets all the hype, and one of those products that's had a lot of talk is the Australis Cosmetics AC on Tour Contouring & Highlighting Cream Kit.

The kit comes in a large black flat palette, with a large mirror, and it contains three highlighting shades and three contouring shades. It is also available in 4 different shades (Lighter than Light, Light, Medium and Dark), and I've put the Light shade to the test.

I am not very good at the whole contouring thing, but one of the things I noticed first and really liked about this palette is that it has a step-by-step guide on the back, on how to both contour and highlight, making it a tad easier for people like me.

The shades are all very pigmented and can easily be built up, although being a little cautious as applying too much, does make it look a little cakey. I find that I get the best and most natural result when I blend it with a damp beauty blender.

As always with palettes, there are shades that you like and that suit you, and others that don’t, and so, from the six shades in the palette, I've probably been using four of them, and in particularly the darkest shade, I find too dark - but then it may mean that I should have gone for the Lighter than Light palette shade in stead. But that said, I have been particularly enjoying the lightest shade as a concealer under my eyes, for which it is the perfect shade.

The creams last until about mid-day on my combination skin, and then starts to fade, but with the use of a primer first, and set with a translucent powder and followed by a setting spray, I can make these last most of the day.

At just $16.95 this palette is great drug store option, and great quality for the low prince. You can naturally get better quality products, but then you also generally have to pay 4-5 times the price. So this is also a great option if you (like me!), are wanting to experiment and learn how to highlight and contour.

PRODUCT REVIEW. AUSTRALIS COSMETICS NAIL POLISHES

Today I’d like to share with you some beautiful nail polishes from Australis. Fact is that I’ve had the on my to-do list to post about for quite some time, but then we moved house, and well moved house again, which just stuffed me around a little. So here are, finally, my thoughts on the Australis cosmetics Nail Colours in Spinnin my Candy, Oh My Nudie and Berry in a Hurry.*

What I Say:
This new collection consists of four new softer, creamier and warmer nail colours, which are absolutely perfect for winter. The colours claim to be chip resistant, easy to use, ultra glossy and give a long lasting intense colour.

And these polishes most definitely give a very high shine polish. I’m no wiz when it comes to applying nail polish, in fact, I am actually rather hopeless, not made better that I am always in a hurry, either about to get out the door, or doing it while looking after my little boy knowing he’d want to be picked up any minute – but still, the result is amazing, and truly is streak free.

As for long lasting, they are fairly long lasting, lasting about 3-4 days without the use of a base or top coat, but that is with extremely frequent hand washes, doing dishes and general house work and not really taking any extra care. But personally I do find that quite well, also considering the low price of these polishes.

The colour Sitting on a Cloud is a bright white colour that looks stunning on its own, and is sure to brighten up an winter outfit, as well as it will look striking on suntanned hands. It also works well to use on the tips of your nails when doing a French manicure. As with most so lightly coloured polishes, two coats is barely enough, but after three coats it does look stunning – although my image fails to show that! Spinnin my Candy is a lovely pastel pink that goes on quite sheer, although you get more colour with two and after three coats be becomes a little more opaque. Oh My Nude is a dark taupe/mushroom shade with a touch of shimmer throughout, while Berry in a Hurry is a nice dark berry shade, and both of these need two coats for a nice finish.

I really like polishes and the colours are all beautiful, and although they are intended for winter, I personally find that they are just as suitable for spring and summer! And at just $7.95 they are a great bargain too!

Product Review: Australis Colour Correcting Cream

Once upon a time I wore nothing but medium to full covering foundations, having always had issues with my skin breaking out and wanting to cover scars from past acne, I simply felt it was needed. But then while I was pregnant my skin miraculously cleared up, and I could finally enjoy using tinted day creams, BB and CC creams. Here are my thoughts on the *Australis Cosmetics Colour Correcting Cream;

What They Say:
Australis Colour Correcting Cream is a multi-tasking face make-up that has been formulated to even out skin tone, while providing flawless coverage. The CC Cream helps to lock in moisture, brighten the skin and neutralise imperfections and redness. It also harnesses nourishing properties such as vitamins A, C and antioxidants including green and white tea extracts, that will mattify the complexion and control unwanted shine.
Available in three shades: Nude, Natural, and Dark Natural.

RRP: $12.95 – Available from Priceline, Big W, Kmart, selected pharmacies and Australis Cosmetics Online

What I Say:
The Australis Colour Correcting Cream has quite a thick consistency, yet it absorbs into the skin very quickly. Unlike many other CC creams that I’ve tried it gives a slightly better coverage, evening out the skin tone, and minimising the look of pigmentation and any redness. In saying that, it doesn’t cover darker pigmentation as well as scars and blemishes and not to mention bags under the eyes (and sadly I know all about them with a 4 month old baby), still need a quick dab with a concealer.

The cream feels comfortable on the skin, and doesn’t settle into fine lines and wrinkles, and as promised it leaves the skin with a velvety matte look, which in spite of my combination skin stays like that all day without any shine, without the need for any touch ups.

I tried the Natural shade, which is the medium shade is a perfect match for my medium beige skin tone, but with only in three shades in the range, Nude, Natural, and Dark Natural, I could imagine others may struggle finding their perfect match.

The Natural Shade..

And blended...

The CC Cream comes in an easy to use small white tube and it has a slight chemical scent.

I love the fact that this is CC cream is not just a foundation, it has the added benefits of nourishing the skin as well, although I do wish that it had also contained some SPF.

What I Like:
  • It has a better coverage than most BB or CC creams that I've tried
  • It has nourishing benefits
  • It stays matte all day – even on my combination skin

What I Don’t Like:
  • It doesn’t not contain any SPF
  • Limited range of shades available
  • It has a slight chemical scent

Overall it is a lovely CC cream providing a nice level of coverage and as we are now heading towards warmer months, I do like that it stays looking matte all day. At just $12.95 this is bargain find, if you have combination or oily skin, you just can’t go wrong!

Product Review: Australis Cosmetics Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in PA-REE

With a four month old baby I must admit that I these days often only wear very minimal makeup, but one thing that I always wear is lipstick, so when I was asked to trial the new lipstick from Australis I happily accepted. Here are my thoughts on the *Australis Cosmetics Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in PA-REE;

What They Say:
"Highly pigmented lips are the look of international runways and the Australis Velourlips collection of city-inspired lip crème takes it to the next level. Boasting a velvety, matte finish, the creamy long-wear formula glides on with ease; finishing to create an intense, full coverage. Velourlips is the perfect answer to long-lasting colour that stays without flaking."

RRP: $9.95 – Available from Priceline, Big W, Kmart, selected pharmacies and AustralisCosmetics Online

What I Say:

The new Australis Velour Matte Lip Creams are available in 5 shades;  TOK-I-O (purple), RIO-D (coral), PA-REE (nude), NY-CEE (red) and MAL-I-BOO (pink), and I tested the nude PA-REE.

The PA-REE is a lovely nude, and while I am a tad conservative and don’t wear too bright lip colours too often, I unfortunately find that this is a touch too nude, and the shade doesn’t match my skin.

As claimed the Velourlips is a lipgloss that offers a full coverage with a matte velvety look, almost as if it was a lipstick. The matte look is a nice change to the always glossy or shimmery lipglosses that we’ve all gotten so used to.

The lipgloss has a very sweet scent, almost like lollies, and it is easy to apply, and it has a very good pigmentation, and is almost like a lipstick in formula. As the lipstick is matte, it unfortunately also means that it is also feeling a little drying on the lips, as well as is a little sticky. You could add a little lipbalm or clear lipgloss on top to eliminate the dry feeling, but it would also mean that the velour look and feel would be somewhat minimised.

It is very longwearing, especially considering it is a lipgloss, and unlike other lipglosses it doesn’t transfer onto glasses and mugs as much. I got about 3 hours wear from the lipgloss before I felt I needed to apply, which personally I find very good for a lipgloss.

What I Like:
  • Great price
  • A nice sweet scent
  • Easy to apply and has a good pigmentation
  • It is longwearing and has very little transfer

What I Don’t Like:
  • It is a little sticky
  • It feels a little drying on the lips

Overall, these are a lovely lipglosses and it is such a refreshing change that they are not glossy like most others on the market. And at just $9.95 each, they are a bargain buy too!
