PRODUCT REVIEW: SKINSTITUT - POTENT AND HIGHLY EFFECTIVE, YET SUPER AFFORDABLE COSMECEUTICAL SKINCARE PRODUCTS AT AFFORDABLE PRICES

I have previously talked about the Australian brand Skinstitut, and today I am very excited to be putting some further products from heir large range to the test…
Skinstitut is an Australian cosmeceutical skincare range using premium, potent and cutting edge cosmical grade ingredients based on proven blends of AHA’s, Retinoids, Vitamin C, Peptides, Antioxidants and SPF technology. And what I really love, is that the cruelty free company also believes that high-end skincare should be accessible to everyone, and consequently their products are priced around 50% less than other comparative brands, with all products having a recommended retail price of $49 or less, and you can frequently find great offers on various online beauty shopping sites too, such as Active Skin , RY and Facial Co, so just how amazing is that!

Now, let’s talk about the products I’ve put to the test;

  • Skinstitut Glycolic Cleanser 12%*
  • Skinstitut Glycolic Scrub 14%*
  • Skinstitut Enzymatic Micro Peel*
  • Skinstitut Moisture Defence Oily Skin*
  • Skinstitut Even Blend Serum*
  • Skinstitut Vitamin C 100%*

I have only very recently talked about the Cleanser, Scrub and Enzymatic Micro Peel, so I am not going to into big detail about those again - you can read my previous review here if you’re interested. I will however say these products are absolutely incredible. They are without a doubt some of the best, and yet most affordable cleansers that I have ever used, so they will forever have a spot in my bathroom cabinet!

Now lets get on to the new products I’ve been trialling;

The Even Blend Serum is designed for all skin types to help reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone including pigmentation, caused by sun exposure, skin inflammation or hormone imbalance. It contains among others Glycolic Acid, Daisy flower, Wakamine and Lotus extracts to help exfoliate the skin for a softer, smoother and more refined texture, with reduced age spots ands kin discolourations, while also brightening up the skin for a more radiant complexion.

It can be used both morning and evening on clean skin, but I’ve only been using it in the mornings as I like using a retinol serum at night. It has a light consistency and is quite concentrated so you only need the tiniest amount. It absorbs quickly, and leave the skin feeling soft and without any sticky residue. While I have only been using it once a day for approx. a month, I do feel that it is helping leave my skin looking clearer, smoother and brighter. I am yet to see any dramatic improvement in larger areas of pigmentation, but I have noticed the it has helped reduce fade some red marks from recent acne as well as help clear up some breakouts too, which has been very welcome. This Even Blend Serum will definitely be on high rotation too!

The Vitamin C 100% is a L-Ascorbic Acid at 100% purity and 100% concentration designed for all skin types, including in particular aged, dull and pigmented. The Vitamin C helps protect against free radical damage, while assisting with collagen production and skin firmness, and improving skin colour, radiance and tone.

The Vitamin C can be used twice daily on clean, dry skin, by mixing one tiny shake of the powder, the size of a grain of rice, and mixing it with your favourite Skinstitut product, such as the Retinol, Even Blend Serum, Enzymatic Micro Peel, Age Defence SPF 50+ or Moisture Defence. I have been mixing mine with the Even Blend Serum, and again, while it can be used twice daily, I have only been using it in the morning, so that I can use the retinol in the evening. That said, I have still seen the improvement in my skin, with it looking less dull and clearly brighter and more even too.

It is a little tricky to shake out the amount of powder needed without any wastage, so while I do love this powder, I would have liked to see it in a different type of packaging, perhaps a tall bottle with a small opening or shaker, to make it a little more user friendly. But all in all, I really do love how it can be added to any product you like, making it a very versatile product.

Finally, there’s the Moisture Defence for Oily Skin. I have previously tried and love the version for Normal skin, but excited about this Oily skin version. The Oily version has been designed for oily and acne prone skin, so it is perfect for skin like mine, helping to not just keen the skin hydrated, but also decongesting, and reducing oil production, leaving the skin matte and clearer. It contains Purisoft®, a natural peptide to protects against free radical damage and pollutants, along with Kakadu Plum to soften, smooth and moisturise.

I really like this moisturiser as it gives my skin sufficient moisture, but as it is so light and non greasy, it helps keep my skin shine-free throughout the day, and make my makeup stay put too.

Some may find it a negative, but I actually quite like that it doesn’t contain any SPF as it makes it perfect for use at night too, and during the day I can easily apply an SPF on top when needed. This moisturiser will moisturiser twice a day, plus I do have a suspicion that SPF is often the reason my skin breaks out, so for that reason I do actually prefer to apply it separately on top of my moisturiser when I really need it. My skin is loving this moisturiser now, and it’ll no doubt love it even more as summer approaches and my skin tends to become even greasier.
