Product Review: Royal Moroccan Serum Treatment

I have quite long hair, which consequently has been through its fair share of damaging hair styling and hair colouring sessions, and as a result, my hair is often looking a little dry and lacklustre. Like most others, I have taken a liking to the new hair oils, so I happily accepted when I was asked to trial the Royal Moroccan Serum Treatment. Here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

"The Royal Moroccan Serum Treatment will put the life back into your sun-exposed locks. This lightweight, non-greasy formula smells like summer in a bottle and creates instant shine while deeply moisturising hair, helping to prevent pesky flyaways and smooth split ends".

What I say:

The Royal Moroccan Serum Treatment is packaged in a pretty in a turquoise box with white and silver writing. Inside is the square’ish glass bottle with the treatment serum.

Royal Moroccan products contain argan oil as well as other nourishing ingredients such as grape seed oil, Dead Sea water, flower extracts, and aloe juice, all of which claim to work well together to make hair soft, silky smooth and easy to comb.

At first I tried the Royal Moroccan Serum Treatment in my dry hair, and I ended up with too much serum in my hands, mainly because it was difficult to dispense just the amount I needed, and consequently my hair was left feeling little to greasy, although it still left my hair looking shiny and healthy, with no frizz.

When I next used the hair, this time in damp hair, I was a little more careful with the amount I used. I put into my damp hair before combing and styling it and it made it so much easier to comb my hair (in spite of using conditioner too), and after letting my hair dry naturally, it was soft, shiny and felt very moisturised. 

Since then, I have used the Serum Treatment both as a protector prior to heat styling my hair, but also as a shine serum on the days that I do not wash my hair, and as a treatment on the days I wash my hair, and the product is making my hair look and feel so much nicer, shinier and healthier. In terms of long term result from using the Royal Moroccan Serum Treatment, I do feel that my hair seems more thoroughly moisturised, clearly thriving from a daily treatment boost. In spite of using it daily, I do not feel that the Serum Treatment in any way is building up in my hair, or weighing it down. The Serum Treatment has a beautiful and natural scent, which does not linger too much but fades soon after the serum treatment has absorbed into the hair.  

In regards to the glass bottle, I have to say that I do not find it very practical, and care definitely must be taken when handling the bottle in the bathroom, and especially after using the hair serum as it does tend to leave your hands a little greasy. However, the glass bottle no doubt does make the product seem more luxurious than if it had been presented in a plastic bottle.

 

The bottle also has a very large opening, so it is difficult to control how much oil comes out, and it is very easy to get too much, which is both wasting the product as well as making the hair feel and look greasy. It would have been nice if the product had come with a pump, or alternatively a least had had one of those plastic caps inserted into the bottleneck, which thereby reduces the amount of product you get.

All in all, it is a great Serum Treatment that does what it promises. Only a small amount of the Serum Treatment is required, so the 100ml bottle will last you a long time, so at $29.95, I find it great value for money, compared to other argan oil hair products available on the market. I can highly recommend this, and will definitely consider purchasing it again, as well as I will be looking into other products in the Royal Moroccan range.

Product Review: Uandi Natural Facial Moisturiser SPF 15 + Giveaway

Increasingly interested in more natural skin care products, I was excited when I was asked to trial the Uandi Natural Facial Moisturiser SPF15. And keep reading, as you too will have a chance to try this moisturiser.  But first, here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

What I Say:

Having never tried any Uandi Natural products before I did a little research into the company and the products, and I was pleasantly surprised at what I discovered.

Uandi, which is both Australian made and owned, draws heavily on the traditional bush plant knowledge held by Indigenous Australians, by combining the intimate bush plant knowledge with potent botanicals and natural ingredients, as well as highly effective anti-ageing actives.

The products are based on the mid-point between scientifically proven skincare and centuries-old Noongar wisdom (Noongar are the Indigenous population based in and around Perth).

Uandi believes in taking care of fulfilling the expectations placed upon modern natural skin care in Australia, and consequently the Uandi products do not contain parabens, sulphates and other nasties, as well as they are free from artificial colours and fragrances. Rather they are full of fresh scents and colours obtained from natural essential oils and extracts from native Australian plant extracts. And of course the products have not been tested on animals. Impressive huh?

The Uandi moisturiser comes with a sleek black pump bottle with white and gold writing and drawings inspired by Indigenous Australian art. Simple yet so eye catching.

I love moisturisers which comes in pump bottles as they are so easy to use, and not to mention so much more hygienic than when you constantly stick your fingers into a jar.

The cream itself is a creamy white consistency, and it has a pleasant, herby, and naturally earthy scent coming from all the essential and natural oils used in the cream. I guess you can say that it smells uniquely Australian! Some may find this too strong, however, this scent does fade once the cream has absorbed into the skin.

The Uandi Natural Face Moisturiser contains nurturing ingredients to help relax the signs of ageing, including wheat protein and vitamin E to help energise and hydrate your skin. It also contains Kakadu Plum, which is the highest known natural source of vitamin C in the world, and not to mention Quandong, Davidson Plum and Lilly Pilly to provide moisturising, antioxidant and conditioning benefits for a healthy looking skin. And of course it also contains SPF15 to provide you with daily sun protection. You can also see the full list of ingredients here.

Having combination skin, prone to breakouts, I always worry using a new moisturiser. But I didn’t need to worry as the Uandi moisturiser is very lightweight, and absorbs into my skin quickly, leaving it soft and subtle, and without feeling greasy. And after having used it for a few weeks my skin is feeling and looking thoroughly moisturised, and looking healthy and glowing, clearly enjoying the natural goodness in the cream – and with no increase in breakouts! And I’m pretty pleased too, knowing that I’m not drowning my skin in unnecessary and harmful chemicals. So if you too are looking for a natural moisturiser, I highly recommend you try it!

What I Say:

Having never before heard of The Scottish Fine Soaps Company, I did a little research and found that the brand goes back to 1974, a family business in central Scotland. The founders ambition was to become a “superb toiletry manufacturer, to create exquisite aromatic Bath and Body products for the discerning customer, which will promote well-being for the mind and body as well as a truly luxurious and pampering experience”. The actual soap is square and is wrapped in Scottish Fine Soaps tissue paper and presented in a contemporary embossed metal tin.

 

The soap contains skin-enhancing ingredients including Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and vitamin E and of course Organic Milk. All of these ingredients, high in vitamin A and D, aids cell-regeneration and reversal of cell damage caused by daily exposure to the harsh environmental elements.

A sumptuous collection of pamper products enriched with the natural goodness of and blended with a range of skin enhancing This range truly is exceptionally nourishing and will leave skin hydrated, smooth and delicately soft.

Having two dogs, I wash my hands countless times during the day, so my hands are often dry, but this soap bar works great for that, and it also works great as a body bar in the shower. The soap glides over the skin, almost like putting on a lotion, and it lathers into thick and creamy foam.

It makes your skin feel squeaky clean and it rinses clean without leaving your skin feeling dry or without leaving behind any icky soap residue.  It just leaves the skin feeling soft, supple and moisturised.

I love the way the bar smells, it is just such a natural feminine and clean scent with next to no perfume, but rather it has a milky undertone.

The bar is pretty big and will last a long time. It has been by my sink for a few weeks now and it hasn’t dried up or cracked unlike other soaps.

All in all this is a great quality soap, fantastic as a treat for yourself, and perfect for a gift for someone special.
