I can’t deny it, my nails have seen better days. I mean, being pregnant, my nails are actually healthier, thicker and stronger, and grow faster than ever before, but that’s also where it stops. With a toddler I find I have limited time to my beauty routines, and admit that it is nails (and feet) that I always leave for last, and hence are the most in need of some TLC. So when I was asked to trial the Remington Flawless Nails Manicure & Pedicure Kit, I happily accepted, here are my thoughts;
What They Say:
Bringing the convenience of salon technology into the home, the Remington Flawless Nails Manicure & Pedicure Kit includes all the essentials mum will need to achieve perfectly primped and preened fingers and toes – without having to leave her house. The kit contains ten interchangeable attachments for filing, buffing, cleaning, shaping and callus removal – plus a high speed-drying fan to ensure her finish is salon perfect every time.
RRP: $49.95 – Available from Leading Electrical Retailers
What I Say:
This Flawless Nails Manicure & Pedicure Kit literally contains everything that you need to give yourself a professional manicure from the comfort of your own home.
The kit comes with all the necessary interchangeable attachments – 14 in total to be exact – to be able to file, buff, clean and shape your nails or remove calluses. The attachments also include three coarse disks with different textures as well as two polishing discs, a mini cleaning brush, precision shaping cone and a cylinder, as well as a manual cuticle push stick, and not to mention a high speed fan for drying nail polish.
In short, this manicure and pedicure kit really does include absolutely everything you would need for the perfect manicure, whether it is for natural or acrylic nails. It is so easy to operate and got two different speeds suit your preference.
Before first use you simply have to charge it, 16 hours for a full charge, and hereafter you’ve got 2.5 hours of cordless use time, so enough for several manicures.
I absolutely love this manicure and pedicure kit, it is absolutely brilliant, and has helped make my nails and cuticles look decent again in next to no time. I love that it is so thought out that it contains every attachment imaginable, although I have to be honest and admit that I still haven’t used all of them.
As the icing on the cake, I also love the high speed nail drying fan, as I am not very patient when it comes to waiting for my nail polish to dry - and as a result I usually end of scuffing it before its completely dry – so for me, this fan is a very welcome part of the kit!
Considering all the attachments that are included in this Manicure and Pedicure Kit, I am surprised that it sells for the bargain price of $49.95. I mean, you can easily spend close to $10 for just one nail file, and not to mention the cost just one in-salon manicure or pedicure – but with this kit, you can do it at home when it suits you, over and over again. Absolutely brilliant!

PRODUCT REVIEW. AUSTRALIS COSMETICS NAIL POLISHES
Today I’d like to share with you some beautiful nail
polishes from Australis. Fact is that I’ve had the on my to-do list to post
about for quite some time, but then we moved house, and well moved house again,
which just stuffed me around a little. So here are, finally, my thoughts on the
Australis cosmetics Nail Colours in Spinnin my Candy, Oh My Nudie and Berry in a Hurry.*
*Product was kindly provided for consideration, and has reviewed in accordance with my Disclosure Policy.
What I Say:
This new collection consists of four new softer, creamier
and warmer nail colours, which are absolutely perfect for winter. The colours
claim to be chip resistant, easy to use, ultra glossy and give a long lasting
intense colour.
And these polishes most definitely give a very high shine
polish. I’m no wiz when it comes to applying nail polish, in fact, I am
actually rather hopeless, not made better that I am always in a hurry, either
about to get out the door, or doing it while looking after my little boy
knowing he’d want to be picked up any minute – but still, the result is
amazing, and truly is streak free.
As for long lasting, they are fairly long lasting, lasting
about 3-4 days without the use of a base or top coat, but that is with
extremely frequent hand washes, doing dishes and general house work and not
really taking any extra care. But personally I do find that quite well, also
considering the low price of these polishes.
The colour Sitting on a Cloud is a bright white colour that
looks stunning on its own, and is sure to brighten up an winter outfit, as well
as it will look striking on suntanned hands. It also works well to use on the
tips of your nails when doing a French manicure. As with most so lightly
coloured polishes, two coats is barely enough, but after three coats it does
look stunning – although my image fails to show that! Spinnin my Candy is a
lovely pastel pink that goes on quite sheer, although you get more colour with
two and after three coats be becomes a little more opaque. Oh My Nude is a dark
taupe/mushroom shade with a touch of shimmer throughout, while Berry in a Hurry
is a nice dark berry shade, and both of these need two coats for a nice finish.
I really like polishes and the colours are all beautiful,
and although they are intended for winter, I personally find that they are just
as suitable for spring and summer! And at just $7.95 they are a great bargain
too!
Have you ever tried any of the nail polishes from Australis?

Product Review: Wantable October Makeup Box
Beauty Boxes are all the rave around the world, with
countless of different versions available in each country. But similar to most
of them, is that they are only available in the country of their origin. Of
course there are some that ship around the world, including to Australia. Here
are my thoughts on the *Wantable October Makeup Box;
What I Say:
Lise Watier is a Canadian brand, that I’ve never heard of before, but it looks great. I contains two iridescent shades, a pinky-peach and a green tinged brown sample, in quite generous sizes, and as these are the colours that I always use, I look forward to trying them out.
Yet another brand that is new to me – but how adorable is this!! I always carry an emery board around in my handbag, but when I need it, I can never find it – this is sure to stand out in the bottom of my handbag.
Another American brand that is new to me, and this one looks
so cute in the lavender coloured box with violets on top. Inside you find a
cute pale yellow jar with a red screw lid – so cute and retro looking. The
translucent powder has a slight violet colour which is to help brighten up the
skin and help with dark circles under the eyes. Just what I need – excited
again!!
What do you think of this beauty box from Wantable? Tempted
to sign up? Have you tried any of these products or brands before?
What They Say:
"We create unique
customer profiles by asking customers a series of product and personality
questions. We then use this data to introduce customers to assortments of
products perfectly suited to their personal taste. You get 4 to 5 full-size
premium makeup products, hand-picked to perfectly match your preferences,
valued at over US$80."
RRP: US$36 per
box if you subscribe, or US$40 for a one-time purchase – Available from
Wantable
What I Say:
The Wantable box is based on the US, and they have three
monthly box options available including
a makeup box, an accessory box and an intimates box, as well as they
also have limited edition boxes available such as the current Halloween Box.
Compared to the Australian beauty subscription boxes that I
have tried, and am aware off, the Wantable box is more expensive, but it also
claims to have products included at a higher total value.
And in spite of the box coming from the US, the service has
been very impressive. I instantly cot a confirmation that my box had been ordered,
and then I got another one shortly after that it had been shipped. They say
that shipping to Australia takes 10-14 days, and I ordered mine on September 27th,
on the 2nd October I got an email saying it had been left Wantable
for the Export company, on the 4th October I got an email saying
that the Exporter had now shipped my box, which then arrived safely in
Australia on the 14th October. While this is a lengthy process, I
really don’t mind and especially not seeing the communication throughout the
process has been so great.
Compared to any other box subscription that I am aware off,
the customisation process for the Wantable boxes is pretty extensive as you
start out by filling out a lengthy questionnaire about what types of make up
you love, like, dislike, including colours, formulas etc., including the below categories;
![]() |
| My category preferences across the various groups |
![]() |
| Preferred lip products |
![]() |
| Preferred lip tones and textures |
![]() |
| Preferred eye shadows |
![]() |
| Preferred blush type and tone |
Again, this
questionnaire is a bit long and probably takes around 10 minutes to fill in,
but it is easy to do, and as it helps customise the products you get in your
box, it is a worthwhile process – and isn’t it just frustrating to continuously
get beauty subscription box full of items in colours you’d never wear of
doesn’t suit your skin tone – with this questionnaire there should be none of
that, and all the products you receive should be products you’d love to use.
| My preferences.. |
When I received the Wantable box, I was surprised at first –
all other beauty boxes that I’ve received have come in pretty boxes that you
can re-use for store other items (but seriously how many of those do you
need!!), but the Wantable box simply came in small white postage box lined with
egg-carton shaped foam to protect the items.
Also I did not find any pretty printed cards about what the
items were in the box, but rather a printed photocopy – but again I really
don’t mind, and as your box should be unique according to your profile
preferences it would also be impossible to include postcard style cards with
product descriptions. The printed copy also shows a brief description of the
products I LOVE, and the products I LIKE, and states that you will be 'most
likely to receive products you LOVE, and will never receive products you
DISLIKE' – how brilliant! – and again, this box is a little more expensive, but
there is no more wasting money on items you’d never use anyway!
The printed copy then contains a brief description of the
items , and these are the items that I received in my box:
Lise Watier is a Canadian brand, that I’ve never heard of before, but it looks great. I contains two iridescent shades, a pinky-peach and a green tinged brown sample, in quite generous sizes, and as these are the colours that I always use, I look forward to trying them out.
Lise Watier Feline Mascara HD – Full Size – RRP: US$23
This ultra black mascara promises to condition and care for
the lashes while giving thickening them with a dramatic intensity. Sounds
pretty good to me!
This lipgloss is enriched with vitamin E, and to give
extreme shine while staying put. It has a lovely subtle pink shimmery shade,
and it has a gorgeous sweet vanilla scent. Glossware is another Canadian brand,
and again a brand that I’ve never heard about, but again I am excited to be
trying this.
Kikkerland Emery Boards Scull – Full Size – RRP$1.50
Yet another brand that is new to me – but how adorable is this!! I always carry an emery board around in my handbag, but when I need it, I can never find it – this is sure to stand out in the bottom of my handbag.
Michael Marcus Nail Polish in Once You Go Matte – Full Size
– RRP: US$15
This is an American brand that I have seen mentioned on
quite a few different blogs, and I’ve always been fascinated with the look and
sound of the products, but never actually tried any, so I am excited about this
nail polish – just the look of the special geometrically shaped bottle, which
is enough to win me over. The colour is black, and as the name suggest, I
assume that this dries to a matte finish. I can’t wait to play with this one!
So there you have it, those were the items in my Wantable
box. Overall I really feel that this is a fantastic beauty box, and I really
love that I’ve received nothing but products that I really do like and will use
– unlike many other beauty boxes which contain the same standard items,
including facial wipes, shampoo sachets, foundations not matched to your skin
tone, and makeup in colours you would never dream of wearing. The items have a
combined value of US$80.50, so $40 for a once off box makes this pretty good
value – and especially seeing I really do love all the items and can’t wait to
try them.
Now who isn’t tempted to sign up….?!? I know that I am!
If you do sign up, feel free to use my link, which will earn
me a couple of points/dollars towards future boxes.

Product Review: Revitanail Keratin Strengthening Serum
My nails are usually in a pretty good condition, but every
so often something happens and they start to break and flake. Just out of the
blue. Keeping them super short and wearing nail polish does help a little, but
just doesn’t help the problem. Here are my thoughts on the *Revitanail Keratin Strengthening Serum;
What They Say:
"Revitanail Keratin
Strengthening Serum is enriched with Keratin Peptide (ProSina) clinically
proven to strengthen, protect and hydrate nails. It is water based formula
allowing it act as a protective base coat under polish. DBP, Toluene and
Formaldehyde free, the serum can be applied 2-3 times a day or as often
as required onto polished or clean nails to leave them nourished, hydrated and
protected against daily wear and tear".
RRP: $19.95 (30ml) – Available from Myer, David Jones,
Priceline, Priceline pharmacies and leading pharmacies nationally.
What I Say:
When my nails play up I always rely on the Revitanail Nail Strengthener, which such a wonder product,
working in no time. If you’ve missed my review, you can see it here.
Being 35 weeks
pregnant, I think my nails have grown faster than they ever have. I’ve had to
trim them twice a week to keep them under control!! And they’ve been thicker
than ever too! But the last few weeks something seems to have happened, and
they seem to suddenly have gone dry and are looking very ‘dull’ – they haven’t yet
started to flake and break, but the dry feeling is usually the first step. Now
of course I’m not sure if this sudden change in the condition of my nails is
caused by my pregnancy, or maybe it is simply because the weather has suddenly
turned and Melbourne is now well into autumn.
I have been using the Keratin Strengthening Serum 2 to 3 times per day as recommended for the
past four or so weeks. And as soon as I’ve applied it to my either my polished
or bare nails I feel the difference. They feel so moisturised, with obviously
the effect feeling greater when used on bare nails. And I do like the fact that
it can be used on both bare and polished nails, that makes it a so much more useful
products, with most girls these days wearing nail polish every day. And I also
like the fact that there is absolutely no greasy feeling (unlike what you get
when you use nail oil!).
The Strengthening
Serum comes in a square clear glass bottle with a pump, which makes it very
easy to dispense just the amount needed, without any wastage. And the clear
glass bottle makes it very easy to see exactly how much serum is left in the
bottle.
The actual serum
has the consistency of a light cream. It is extremely concentrated, so only the
tiniest amount is necessary, and the bottle will therefore last forever! It has a gentle and pleasant scent, which does
linger for a little while, also after the serum has absorbed into the nails,
but as it so gentle and pleasant I don’t mind one bit.
So did the Keratin
Strengthening Serum live up to its claims. Absolutely, no doubt about it.
Within just a few applications I could feel the moisture come back to my nails
as well as cuticles. And the feeling is permanent, so even after washing my
hands, do the nails seem more moisturised, no doubt due to the Keratin
Strengthening Serum containing both the keratin, but also other moisturising
ingredients such as glycerin, almond oil, lanolin and shea butter.
After the four
weeks of use, I’m so happy to say that my nails and my cuticles have returned to
their healthy looking state, and they yet again feel stronger than ever. In
fact I could already start to see and feel the difference after a few days of
using it. So this truly is a wonder product, and at just $19.95 it is such a
bargain too for a treatment product that can be used both on bare nails and on top
of polished nails. If you are having problems with dry and flaking nails, I
highly recommend you try it. You’ll love it! Congratulations Revitanail,
you’ve done it again!!

Product Review: Revitanail Cuticle Remover Gel
I've always been a fan of Revitanail as their products always do what
they claim they will do, and loving the newly launched Conditioning Remover
Wipes and Precision Corrector, I was very excited when I was asked to trial the
Cuticle Remover Gel. Here are my thoughts,
What They Say:
"Dry, overgrown or unruly cuticles can
detract from even the most expertly performed manicure or pedicure. Get
professional results from your at-home manicures and pedicures with Revitanail®
Cuticle Remover Gel".
RRP: $14.95 (30ml) – Available from
Priceline, Department Stores and select chemists
What I Say:
Too many
applications of nail polish and subsequent uses of nail polish remover that
dries out the cuticles, and forgetting to use nail pol and not pushing my
cuticles back, often leaves them looking dry and overgrown, which is such a
shame as it completely ruins the look of a nice nail polish.
The Revitanail
Cuticle Remover gel contains Sodium Hydroxide to lightly and gently (you won’t feel it)
dissolve the unsightly cuticle build up as well as green tea extract and aloe
vera to soften and moisturise the delicate cuticles, allowing you to push it
back the cuticles, leaving you with a perfectly groomed nail bed.
The Cuticle
Remover Gel is so easy to use as it comes in a tube with a thin applicator tip
for a fuss-free and precise application, which means it
also easy to get just the right amount of gel, without wasting any as well.
You apply a small amount of the clear gel
onto excess cuticles and wait for 4-5 minutes. Do not leave on for longer than
eight minutes. While the gel
is still on your nails, gently push the cuticles back with the flat end of cuticle stick. This is very easy to do, and the clear
gel turns a milky white colour as the dead cuticles dissolve. Once all
the cuticles are pushed back wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
The directions on
the tube say ‘wait 4-5 minutes – do not leave on for longer than 8 minutes’,
while on the box the tube came in, it says to ‘wait 1-2 minutes – do not leave
on for longer than 10 minutes”. This conflicting information is a little
confusing, but I found that 1-2 minutes is just not enough, while if the gel is
left on for the 4-5 minutes, the cuticles are easy to push back. I have never
left it on for more than 8 minutes so I’m not sure what happens if you do!
The gel is very
concentrated so you only need a little bit, and consequently the 30ml tube will
last you a long time, and consequently making the $14.95 price a reasonable
price.
All in all, this
is a fantastic product that I wish I had discovered earlier – no more dried out
cuticles, this stuff really works. The Cuticle Remover gel ensures optimum cuticle health making your nails looks so much nicer and
healthier, with or without nail polish. Of course it also helps make it so much
easier to apply nail polish and more importantly makes your manicure look so
much more professional!
