PRODUCT REVIEW: MILANI COSMETICS SPOTLIGHT STROBE PALETE, MATTE LIP CREME, LIP COLOUR REMOVER AND LUXE LIP TREATMENT

One of those brand that is very hyped about at the moment is Milani Cosmetics. I was very late to the party and only just recently tried out a selection of their products (which you can read more about here), and there's no denying that the products exceed all expectations. Today I'm excited to share with you some additional products…

First up is the Milani Cosmetics Spotlight Face and Eye Strobe Palette in Sunlight, which is available in three shades, and I put the darkest shade, Golden Light, to the test. This palette is incredibly beautiful with its wavy design, which is made up from three different shades, a rose gold, a bronze and a gold. And it is truly the most versatile multitasking illuminating palette you'll come across, as it can be used as blush, highlighter on the cheek bones, cupids bow, brow bone, eye shadow and accent for the most stunning luminous glow. The shades are all very buildable, so you can apply just a touch for everyday use, or build up for a night out. I especially love the bronze shade as an eye shadow, and the rose gold on my cheeks. This colour combination is perhaps a tad dark for my current winter-pale skin, but will be absolutely perfect come summer and my skin gets slightly tanned, so for now, I wouldn't mind checking out a paler shade on my pale skin now.

The Milani Rose Powder Blush is without a doubt one of those makeup items that is featured the most amongst beauty bloggers, and with good reason as is it so incredibly stunning with its rose embossed design. But it is also such a beautiful blush to wear. I tried the shade Romantic Rose to the test, which is a matte nude dusty rose shade. And this shade is the best shade for those with pale skin, giving you a beautiful and very natural blushed cheek. Perfect for everyday makeup, or a barely there look, also because it applies with just a very subtle sheen. It is
quite pigmented, so you have the choice if you want to apply just a sheer wash of colour, or have a more intense look. Just incredible, and worth all the hype.

The blush comes in a golden compact with a clear lid, so you can see and admire the beautiful embossing - and unlike the Baked Blush, this one doesn't come with a brush or mirror included, which does make the packing slightly more slimline and stylish, and again, I actually personally prefer this and leave the little brush out.

Then there's the Milani Cosmetics Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment, and here I have to admit that I am completely new to lip oils. I have heard some many rave about lip oils, but just never gotten around to trying some, so very excited about this one. This one, formulated with the natural healing power of Jojoba, Avocado and Tsubaki Oil. As an added benefit, each if the 8 shades in the range is infused with different nutrient-dense oils that treat a specific concern. I tried the shade 07 Protecting Pomegranate, and it seriously has the most divine fruity scent. My lips are not usually dry, but do get drier in winter, and just one application of this, and my lips are left so soft. I love the huge sponge applicator, and the moisturisng ultra glossy finish and just a tint of the red shade. And I really love that it doesn't just sit on top of the lips like any other gloss, but that the oils absorbs into the lips to help treat and protect them. I am loving this Lip Oil, and will have to get my hands on a few extra shades and treatment options.

Next is the Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Lip Crème, which are liquid-to-matte lip crème, that formula dries to a soft, velvety matte finish. And as promised, they are very pigmented and saturated, so you get a bold opaque colour with just one swipe. The doe applicator makes it easy to apply, and shortly after it dries to the matte look. As with most matte lipsticks, I do find that it can make you lips look and feel dry, so my tip is to use a good lip balm prior to applying it, and once that has absorbed, apply the lip crème. This lip crème also stays put quite well, I managed to get approx. 5-6 hours wear, even surviving a few drinks without transferring, but then it does start to flake and look dry. I do find that I need to use a makeup remover or micellar water or if I'm on the go, a makeup wipe, to remove it completely, as I find that re-applying, doesn't give the greatest result, again as you start out from having dry lips! I do love the look and wear of these, and the shade I tried, Fabulous, is a stunning dark berry-red shade, so whenever I wear it when I'm out and about, I simply carry a travel pack of wipes (which I usually do anyway), and its well worth it. They are available in a massive 23 different shades, so definitely something for everyone

The Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Metallic Lip Crème, which are essentially the same liquid to matte lipsticks, but with tiny metallic shimmer particles that give the lips a subtle sheen, while still offering the same bold, intense colour payoff. It is also long wearing, promising up to 16 hours of wear. I don't quite feel that I can get that many hours, but usually manage 5+ hours before I feel I need to reapply (as above), but personally I also find that is very reasonable. These metallic versions are available in 15 shades, and I tried the colour Mattely In Love, which is a gorgeous red shade.

Speaking of removing these long-wearing lipsticks, of colours, of course Milani Cosmetics has thought about it with the Keep It Clean Longwear Lip Color Remover. This remover is made with safflower and grapeseed oil base with conditioners, and has a thick jelly consistency. And it is truly fantastic, just a tiny bit massaged into your lips, will remove stubborn lip colours, while still being very gentle, and the hydrating formula helps nourish and keep the lips soft and smooth. I I never knew I needed this, but now that I've tried it, I wouldn’t want to be without it.

Finally, there's the Milani Cosmetics Keep It Smooth Luxe Lip Treatment restores your dry lips and prevents lips from becoming chapped. The treatment contains Shea Butter to moisturise, well as coconut, olive, sweet almond, macadamia, jojoba, and argan oils to hydrate, while also promising to smoothe, soothe, comfort and minimise fine lines. The pale pink treatment comes in a cute little jar, and I have to admit that I would have preferred if it had come in a tube or stick, as it is simply easier to apply. But that said, it feels lovely on the lips, almost immediately absorbing, leaving the lips feeling soft and nourished, and without any greasiness. A great treatment to get your lips into shape, and to use before applying the long-wearing lipsticks.

So there you have it, another amazing selection of products from Milani, and yet again, the products have not failed to impress, so make sure you go check them out too.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LUST HAVE IT SEPTEMBER 2014

Another subscription box that arrived while I was away on holidays was the September *Lust Have It box arrived, so again, slightly delayed, here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

Lust Have It boxes regularly contains products worth $60+ for only $19.95/month! Monthly box filled with 5 to 6 premium beauty samples. Delivered to your home or work each month for you to try.

RRP: Lust Have It Box (monthly) RRP: $19.95, Eco Box (quarterly) RRP: $29.95 – but if you use my unique code LIFESTYLE at the checkout on the Lush Have It website, you are eligible for $5 off your first box from Lust Have It, and at the same time you’ll also be supporting Beauty & Lifestyle Hunter, as I will get a few dollars too if someone subscribes using this code.

Available from Lust Have It

What I Say:

As per pervious months, this month the goodies again arrived in a pink see-through mesh bag. Unfortunately it didn’t contain the information card, which I always find extremely useful, so I do miss having it. Anyway, these are the products in bag;

Glam Manicare Express 3 in 1 – Full Size

This is a nail art pen that as well as containing a glittery gold nail polish, also contains some large silver and gold glittery flecks as well as 10 different stencils. I am not personally fond of the gold shade or the glittery, but I do love the stencils, so I will definitely have to try them out. But in general this is such a great idea for clumsy girls like me that has absolutely no idea when it comes to nail art!

ModelCo Lip lacquer Liquid Lipstick in Fire Red – Full Size

This is a combination of a lipstick and a lipgloss. It has some serious pigmentation packing a big punch with its bright red shade, yet it is lovely and glossy. And it has a gorgeous fruity scent too. I am not normally wearing such bright shades, but I have already tried it out, and love it. And I love that it really does have a long wear, and when it starts to fade, it still leaves a nice red stain behind on the lips. And if you don’t want the intense colour, you can also just dab it on for a nice stained look.

Urban Skincare Co – Repair + Body Balm – Sample Size, 35ml

A new brand I have never heard of before, and it is Australian made and owned, which I always love. YAY! This body balm contains minerals of calsium and magnesium and enriching coriander oil and smells absolutely divine. It has a lovely light consistency that absorbs quickly into the skin leaving it feeling velvety smooth and soft.

There was also a card included giving you free shipping and 20% of your next order, and I am so in love with that cream that I can definitely see myself checking that out…

The Cosmetic Kitchen Macadamia Wax Crème Highlighter – Full Size

This highlighter comes in the shape of a lipgloss, even with the angled opening to make applying easier. It is slightly thick, yet it does blend out nice and evenly, leaving a nice and subtle sheen on the skin. My only issue is that the slightly gold shade could have been a little lighter to match my skin tone, but give it a month or so, and I will probably start having a bit of a summer than, so it should be fine. I look forward to testing this one out!

Uriage Soap-Free wash for Sensitive Skin for Face and Body – Sample Size, 8ml

I have not tried many products from Uriage so I do look forward to trying out this cleanser, even in spite of not having sensitive skin, so it doesn’t really match my skin type. My only issue is that the sample is so small, if you are supposed to also be able to use it on your body, you can hardly wash yourself with it, that’s how small it is.

ModelCo – Various sachet samples x 4

Finally there were also four samples of ModelCo’s newly launched skincare range. The samples include Exfoliating Cream Facial Scrub, Instant Miracle Booster Skin Brightening & Firming Serum, Double Sided Facial Wipes, and Soothing Moisturiser Day & Night. I am generally a little over sachet samples, and would naturally have preferred to see a larger sample or two, so you can try the products for a few go’s, but on the other hand, guess the sachet samples allow you try a few more of the new products. Regardless, I do look forward to trying out these out.

So there you go, the contents in the September issue. Overall, I am sadly not extremely impressed. I do like the inclusion of in particular the ModelCo Lip Lacquer and understand that regular subscrbers have been able to pick their preferred shade, which certainly is a great bonus. Also I like the Body Balm from Urban Skincare Co., but sadly other than that, I am a little underwhelmed with the other products, although in terms of value it still makes up for the $20 spend. Fingers crossed next month’s box will make up for it.

*This product was kindly provided for consideration, and it has been reviewed in accordance with my Disclosure Policy.

If you are considering subscribing, don’t forget that you can get $5 off your first box by using the unique code LIFESTYLE at the checkout on the Lush Have It website

What do you think of this month’s Lust Have It Box? Are you subscribing, or considering subscribing? Any products you are particularly keen on? And as always, if you’d like to see full reviews of any of the products, do let me know..

PRODUCT REVIEW: MAYBELLINE NEW YORK COLOR ELIXIR COLOR SENSATIONAL CREAMY LIP LACQUER

Today I’d like to share with a new lip lacquer launch, the Color Elixir Color Sensational Creamy Lip Lacquer Maybelline New York*;

What They Say:

Fall under the spell of the elixir effect. Hyper-saturated color, ultra cushiony feel. The new hypnotic lip sensation. With its trio of concentrates Color Elixir provides the saturated colour of a lipstick, a lacquer shine of lipgloss and the cushiony feel of a balm. Available in 12 shades.

RRP: $17.95 (5ml) – Available from Priceline and select pharmacies

What I Say:

Since the birth of our baby boy just over a year ago, I have been a lot more casual. I used to work in the corporate sector with outfits, makeup and hair to match, but when you have a dribbling toddler with greasy hands, you outfits automatically become more casual, and with limited time on my own, so has my makeup. And that’s why I mostly wear a lipgloss or lacquer over a lipstick as it is so much easier and quicker to apply on the go, or in the car (when you’re stopped at a traffic light, of course!)

And I instantly fell in love when a beautiful package of 10 Maybelline New York Color Elixir Color Sensational Creamy Lip Lacquer landed on my doorstep.

These new lip lacquers have taken the beauty world by storm, and I’d heard and read a lot about them before they even landed in the shops here in Australia, but then again, it is not uncommon that Australia is the last country to see new product launches! But anyway, all the reviews I’d read were rave reviews, so I couldn’t wait to test these new lacquers out. I know that overseas a whole 20 colours were launched, so I’m unsure why we’d only see 12 of these here in Australia, but as there are colours for every taste amongst those, I am quite happy with those for now.

The 12 colour include:

  • Rose Redefined (090): Medium Dusty Rose
  • Petal Plush (100): Light Pink
  • Fuchsia Flourish (075): Bright Pink
  • Hibiscus Haven (085): Flouro Pink
  • Nude Illusion (060): Nude
  • Caramel Infused (065): Natural Pink
  • Blush Essence (095): Medium Pink
  • Mauve Mystique (025): Dusty Rose
  • Raspberry Rhapsody (030): Light purple
  • Mandarin Rapture (015): Bright Orange

Rose Redefined, Petal Plush, Fuchsia Flourish

Hibiscus Heaven, Nude Illusion, Caramel Infused

Blush Essence, Mauve Mystique, Raspberry Rhapsody, Mandarin Rapture,

These lip lacquers are, as promised, super pigmented and offer the saturated colour of a lipstick but with the incredible shine of a gloss.

The lip lacquers goes on smoothly, and has a nice creamy texture that feels lovely and moisturising on the lips without feeling tacky. The lacquer stays put for approx. 3+ hours before you need to reapply, although less if you eat or drink, but I personally find that pretty good for a gloss. And once the colour fades, it fades evenly, leaving my lips feeling soft and subtle.

L-R: Mandarin Rapture, Raspberry Rhapsody, Mauve Mystique,
Blush Essence, Caramel Infused, Nude Illusion, Hibiscus Heaven,
Fuchsia Flourish, Petal Plush, Rose Redefined

It has a leaf-shaped doe applicator which makes it easy to get precise application as the point can be used to line the lips while the flat side fills in the lips.

The colour range is nice, and there is a colour to suit every taste and occasions, weather you are after a subtle lip or a bright pop of colour.

Overall I really like these lip lacquers and the colour range, and I love that you can get a conditioning and bold lasting lip colour with lip with a high shine at the same time. Fingers crossed we will be seeing the remaining 8 colours launched here in Australia soon! Highly recommended.

What do you think of these lip lacquers from Maybelline? Which colour do you prefer? And bold lip or nude lip?

PRODUCT REVIEW: GORGEOUS COSMETICS AND INTERNATIONAL GIVEAWAY

I have long known about the brand Gorgeous Cosmetics, and been fascinated with the large range of products, so when I was asked to trial some of their products, I happily accepted. If you have never heard of Gorgeous Cosmetics before, now is time.

The brand was founded in 1999 by award-winning Melbourne Makeup Artist David McConnell, and today the large and gorgeous product range is sold at Nordstrom and 250 other high-end retailers across Europe and the US, which is a testament to how amazing the products are.
Here are my thoughts on the 8 Pan Essential Eye Shades, 8 Pan Blush/Highlight Palette, Powder Brush, Liquid Lips, Lipstick and Lip Pencil…. And keep reading for how you can WIN all of these products from Gorgeous Cosmetics..

The Gorgeous Cosmetics Palette 8 Pan Essential Shades* contains absolutely everything you need, and for someone as conservative as me, usually reaching for nude and brown shades, this palette is nothing short of amazing, and absolutely essential, as the name suggests.

The eye palette contains the shades Monkey, Gold Digger, Fab, DMC Black in the top row and  Smudge, True Taupe, Fudge and Jet in the bottom row. The top row are all shimmery shades, while the bottom row are all matte.

And you probably got several of those multi-shade palettes where you've ended up using just a few of the shades, but not with this palette, as it is simply so well put together that you'll want to use every single shade included.

All the colours are beautiful, both used individually for a simple classic look, but also layered for an endless combination of looks. When I first saw the palette I thought that there was no way that I’d use the charcoal and black shades, but these are surprisingly workable, and work perfectly with the rest of the shades in the palette when you’re creating that smoky eye, and they can be used as liner shades or to deepen other colours in the palette.

The shadows are all extremely pigmented and so easy to blend. You can apply just a wash of colour, or easily build it up as intensely as you like. And they are very long lasting, even on my combination skin with slightly greasy eyelids, and without the use of a primer they still stay put all day without creasing or fading.

The shadows come in a large slimline black palette with a huge mirror. It may be a little large to carry around in your handbag on a daily basis, but I rarely do touch-ups doing the day anyway, so for me it doesn't matter - but the palette is perfect to take with you when you go away on mini breaks or holidays, as you simply won’t run out of looks to do, so it is all you’d need to pack for your eyes.

The Gorgeous Cosmetics blush and highlight palette* is an absolute must-have for the cheeks, and it contains 8 shades; 4 highlight shades and 4 blush shades. The shades included are Potato Cake, Nude, Peach Glow, Rhubarb in the top row and Natural, Toffee Shine, Sesame, and Apples in the bottom row. Four of the shades are matte, while the four shades Peach Glow, Rhubarb, Peach Glow and Rhubarb all have the perfect amont of shimmer without being over the top glittery. And there really is something for every taste and occasion in this palette, from the palest of pale pastel peach, a dusty rose, an apricot, a peachy brown and a peachy pink as well as of course the nude and natural colours which are perfect for highlighting.

These blushes and highlighters have an incredibly soft and creamy powdery formula and they are so beautiful to work with as they are so pigmented and so easy to work with a blend using a blush brush. And the result is natural, even when you build up the colour to be more intense, it never looks cakey. And like the eyeshadows, it is long lasting doesn’t fade or budge, and even in the end of the day, still looks freshly applied.

The Gorgeous Cosmetics Medium Powder Brush #029* may be a classified as a powder brush, but personally I find it works brilliantly for applying the blushes and highlighters thanks to the slightly tapered tip. And because it is made from natural hair it picks up the powder extremely well and makes blending it out breeze.

The brush is of such a high quality, and I love that it comes with a little plastic sleeve to protect the bristles. I’ve love to add a few more to my collection, especially one of their amazing brush collection sets but may just settle with a contour brush, shadow blender and eye wash brush to begin with.

The Gorgeous Cosmetics Liquid Lips*, unlike other lipglosses is incredibly long lasting, lasting well over 4 hours on my lips and even surviving a cup of tea and a drink of water. It has a lovely creamy formula feels so lovely and moisturising on the lips and it gives the lips a super glossy and high shine finish. The colour Allure is a lovely medium pink that is perfect to wear alone for a natural casual look, or it can be worn over any lipstick for an instantly shiny result. There are 12 colours available in the Liquid Lips range, and I’ve already got my eyes on a few more of them..

The Gorgeous Cosmetics Lipstick* in Persuasion is a lovely red with a blue undertone. It has a lovely smooth texture and feels very light yet very moisturising on the lips. It is incredibly pigmented, and consequently it gives you a high colour pay off with an intense colour that simply stays put for hours on end. It is so glamorous looking with such a nice glossy finish. It even lasts through cups of tea and a light lunch, although it does fade slightly more than if you eat and drink, naturally. And if you don’t, the beautiful glossy finish remains for hours too. And when it fades, it fades evenly, leaving a nice stain on the lips, that simply doesn’t budge all day!!!

The lipstick works perfectly when using the Gorgeous Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Red Carpet* first to line your lips and ensure your lipstick stays in place and you have no bleeds. The pencil is so soft and creamy and glides on easily without feathering. There are 30 colours available in the lipstick range, so there is a colour for ever taste and occasion.

Overall these products from Gorgeous Cosmetics really are just that – gorgeous, and I am so enjoying using every single one of these products. They are of such a high quality, which makes then a dream to work with and wear, and the fact that they are enriched with anti-aging and healing ingredients including as Chamomile, Aloe Vera and Vitamins A & E, just adds to that.

And I love that Gorgeous Cosmetics was founded right here in Melbourne, it doesn’t get any more local than that! And while I absolutely love all the products, the standout products for me were the Eyeshadow palette and the Blush/Highlight Palette and the Powder Brush, however there are so many products in their range, there is something for everyone, and so many more products that I’m so wanting to try!

PRODUCT REVIEW - LUST HAVE IT - MAY 2014

It has only been about three weeks since the April Box arrived, and yesterday, the 27th May, the May Box arrived at my door step – so here are my thoughts on the May Lust Have It Box;

What They Say:

Lust Have It boxes regularly contains products worth $60+ for only $19.95/month! Monthly box filled with 5 to 6 premium beauty samples. Delivered to your home or work each month for you to try.

RRP:

Lust Have It Box (monthly) RRP: $19.95, Eco Box (quarterly) RRP: $29.95 – but if you use my unique code LIFESTYLE at the checkout on the Lush Have It website, you are eligible for $5 off your first box from Lust Have It, and at the same time you’ll also be supporting Beauty & Lifestyle Hunter, as I will get a few dollars too if someone subscribes using this code.
Available from Lust Have It

What I Say:
Last month’s box arrived in a clear makeup bag, and I was under the impression that would be the new style for a while, but obviously not, as this month’s box arrived in a plain black postage box! I am really not complaining or too fussed about this as I have so many of those boxes floating around now – but Lust Have It must have felt bad about it, as they had enclosed a card saying that the cosmetic bags are still on the way to them, and they didn’t want to delay the boxes so ‘in place of the new packaging , they’ve included a $20 gift voucher for you to redeem against any of their subscription boxes other than the women’s box, or on the Chloe Morello and Bridal Boxes, where you may actually use it once time on each of those products if you like….’ Big tick of approval Lust Have It, that is a lovely gesture, turning a delay into something nice!

Taking a break, off to check out the other boxes.. and you can too, right here

Back again....So this is what was in the May Lust Have It Box..

Mary Kay Lip Lacquer in Pink Pagoda – Full Size (RRP $22/4g)

This lip lacquer promises intense high shine lips with a smooth jelly finish and a stay-true colour. It also promises to moisture the lips, and stay put. I really like Mary Kay products (and recently went to one of their product launches which you can read all about here), so I am quite excited about this lip lacquer, and I love the little retractable lip brush that comes with it. The Pink Pagoda is a bright Fuchsia shade, and it is a little on the bright and bold side for me, but it is good to be pushed out of your comfort zone from time to time!

Coral Colour Eyebrow Definer Pencil in Dark Brown – Full Size (RRP: $7.95)

I know what a difference it does when I do my eye brows, but when I am in a hurry, it is the last thing on my mind – but I do like the sound of this, as it promises to blend easily and be long lasting too, so I look forward to testing it out.

Appelles Rosemary Body Bar – Full Size (RRP: $4.95/100g)

I have to be honest and admit that I am not the biggest fan of soap bars – I simply find them messy after a while and hence much prefer liquid soap. But this soap does smell quite nice, supposedly of rosemary, although I detect a bit of a citrusy scent too. And I love that it is made with certified organic ingredients that promises to cleanse the skin without drying or stripping the skin, while helping to reduce epidermal stress – so I may just have to put this one to the test.

The Cosmetic Kitchen Pure Mineral Blush in Strawberry – Full Size (RRP: $34.95/6g)

I have really taken a liking to mineral makeup lately, so I applaud the inclusion of this full sized one from the Cosmetic Kitchen. I love that it is highly pigmented, and talc and bismuth free. I got the colour strawberry which is a lovely dusty rose shade, which is really wearable, so I cannot wait to try this one out. My only criticism is that the jar is difficult to open, and as loose minerals can be rather messy, it can easily turn into a right mess trying to get the lid off!

Sasy n Savy Vitamin Enriched Facial Recovery Masque – Sample, 20ml (RRP: $50/100ml)

This mask is intended for normal to oily skin types and claims to deep cleanse and draw out impurities, and as I’ve had a few breakouts lately, this is perfect timing, and perfectly suited to my skin. And such a nice change to get a treatment product than a moisturiser suited for dry skin that I am unable to use, so I cannot wait to give myself a mini facial testing out this mask!

So there you have it, these are the goodies in the May Lust Have It Box, and I am quite happy with the contents, as I will actually be using every single product, although the soap bar doesn’t excite me that much, but as that is also the cheapest item, it doesn’t bother me too much! I in particularly really like the inclusion of the full sized Mary Kay Lip Lacquer and the Cosmetic Kitchen blush, as well as the Sasy n Savy mask – so all in all, I find that this is a great box, which is well worth its value.
