Product Review: Lust Have It – October Box
Yet again Lust Have It has managed to take me by surprise. I
came home from being out this morning to find the October Lust Have It Box
waiting for me at the front door. Lust Have It has kindly sent me the last few
boxes for review, but I had no idea, and no anticipation that I would continue
to receive box after box, so it really was a lovely surprise to find amongst a
couple of nasty bills. Here are my thoughts of the contents of the October Lust
Have It Box;
This Wash Off offers an instant and temporary tan in just
minutes. I have previously tried a similar product from Le Tan Flawless Legs,
which is a great product, and while I have used this a few times, I am not a
massive fan of self-tanners in general, so unfortunately this one doesn’t rock
my boat!
According to the card this is supposed to be a full sized
product, but seeing a full sized product is 110ml and this mask is just 28g, I
do classify it as a sample. Regardless I am looking forward to trying it. I
have never heard of the brand before, but the promise of helping to reduce the appearance
of fine line and wrinkles and make my skin glow, sounds pretty good to me!
This is another brand that I’ve never heard of before, so I
am looking forward to trying it. It is supposed to be a moisturiser, SPF,
Foundation, Filler and concealer all in one, which sounds pretty good, gotta
love multi-tasking products. I got it in the shade Cappucino, which is a medium
beige tone, and a good match for my skin.
A few weeks ago Lust Have It revealed that there would be a
full sized Inkia product in every single box, and this the one! I have heard a
lot of good things about Inika so I was looking forward to this.
I got a loose mineral Eyeshadow in the colour Lust which I a dusty sea green – and while I will try this out, it is not a colour that I would usually wear so I don’t think I will get much use from this one.
I have heard of Paula’s Choice, but again a brand that I’ve
never tried. Years ago I used to use blotting papers, but then somehow forgot
about them. Heading into the warmer and more humid months this small pack will
be perfect for the handbag to help keep shine at bay.
What They Say:
"Lust Have It boxes
regularly contains products worth $60+ for only $19.95/month! Monthly
box filled with 5 to 6 premium beauty samples. Delivered to your home
or work each month for you to try."
RRP: Lust Have It Box (monthly) RRP: $19.95, Eco Box
(quarterly) RRP: $29.95 – but read on to find out how to get a discount on your
first box..
Available from Lust Have It
What I Say:
This month’s Lust Have It box stands out from previous boxes
which have had pretty pale blue and pale and beige floral printed box, with a
magnetic closure, - while this months box is a white background with bright
pink, purple and orange floral/spatter watercolour design on it. Personally I
really love this design, it is so much fresher and more summery and modern than
the old style boxes. Another new thing is that the box opens sideways, but still
with the same magnetic closure.
The October Lust Have It box is using ‘Spring Race Carnival Edition’
as its theme, which is very fitting – bring on the Melbourne Cup and
consequently the public holiday in Melbourne!!
These are the goodies that I found in the October Lust Have
It Box;
Le Tan Wash Off – Sample 40g (RRP: $14.99/100g)
It also comes with a discount coupon for $3 off any LE Tan
Self Tan product at Woolworths.
Princess Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Mask – Sample – 1 cloth
mask/28g (RRP: $25/110ml)
Smitten Cosmetics Whipped Tinted Mousse Moisturiser SPF15 – approx. 15ml(?) -
(RRP: $25/30ml)
When I opened the Lust Have It box, the screw lid was off
this cream, but luckily due to its thick mousse-like consistency it hadn’t spilt
out onto the other products.
Inika Mineral Eye Shadow – Full Size (RRP: $25/12g)
I got a loose mineral Eyeshadow in the colour Lust which I a dusty sea green – and while I will try this out, it is not a colour that I would usually wear so I don’t think I will get much use from this one.
Paula’s Choice Oil Blotting Papers – Sample (RRP: $10.50/100
sheets)
EVO Ritual Salvation Care Shampoo and Conditioner – Samples 50ml
each (RRP: $25/300ml each)
These small bottles are so cute, and specifically for colour
treated hair these are perfect for my hair – well, except that I haven’t actually
had my hair coloured since before I got pregnant and my son is now 4 months old…
but I do have it on the cards to get it done in time for the silly season, and
it will be great to try these out. I have heard good things about the EVO
brand, and again, it is a brand that I’ve not tried before.
The box
also comes with a voucher for $20 off your next purchase from the online
shopping site, the Iconic. From what I can read in the Terms & Conditions
there doesn’t appear to be a minimum spend required (unless I’ve just
completely missed it!!), and if that is the case, this is a great offer, also
seeing orders under $50 attract jus $7.95 in shipping, while orders over$50
have free shipping.
Finally, the box also comes with a $50 wine voucher to spend on any case of winer priced at $109.99 or more from Naked Wines.
So what’s my verdict
of the October Lust Have It Box…. Overall, like the previous boxes I have
received, I feel that this box contains a nice selection and variety of
products – although I have to say that I found that the products in previous
boxes I’ve received have been more my style, and hence the boxes better value. To
sum up, I am not a bit fan of self-tanning products, I never wear green-ish eye
makeup, and while I will find the blotting papers useful, I kind of don’t really
rate them, if that makes sense. That leaves the Smitten foundation, EVO shampoo
and conditioner and the Princess Skincare cloth mask, and while I am
excited to be trying these products and will use and enjoy them, their combined
value is in my eyes not worth the cost of the box..
But of course, if you love the colour of the Inika eyeshadow
and are a regular user of self-tanning products, then this box would no doubt
be of great value.

Product Review: Best Bargain Beauty Buys 21.09.2013
A few weeks ago I started doing a posts on Best Bargain
Beauty Buys, and while I have to be I do splurge on some higher end products, I
also love discovering budget products as I use so many of them on a daily basis
which are very efficient and fantastic products. I did plan on making this post
a regular weekly feature, but life has been a bit busy the last weeks, so I
unfortunately had to skip the post last week, but here are my beauty budget picks
this week;
*Palmolive Ultra
Divine Blends Dishwashing Liquid – RRP: $3.49 (375mL) or $4.99 (700mL) -
available at Woolworths
Who is not tired of the same old same old dishwashing liquid
scents? Well, technically not a beauty product, I still thought that I’d
include these new dishwashing liquids from Palmolive, simply because they smell
so beautiful that they are a such a pleasure for the senses, which is nice
distraction when you’re doing a tedious chore. Actually that I’m doing the
dishes very often – hubby often comments that I don’t ‘do the dishes very
well’, so he usually ends up doing them. Score!! And believe it or not, as soon
he saw these new dishwashing liquids, he got excited, “can I use them now?”
*Le Tan Daily Face
Sheer Tint – RRP: $10.99 (75ml) – Available from supermarkets, discount
department stores, pharmacies and Priceline
This tinted face cream can be used both on its own, as well
as under makeup, but I have to say that I prefer just using on its own. It
contains SPF30+ and gives the skin just a hint of tint to even out the skin
tone, although the coverage is sheer, so it doesn’t cover darker imperfections.
It gives the skin a nice glow, without being too shiny or shimmery. It has a
nice light scent, and blends easily, giving the skin a nice dewy matte finish –
which in spite of my combination skin stays matte that for most of the day. And
as a bonus, it’s got anti-ageing properties too, which (sadly) my skin needs. Amazing!
*Suvana Organic Paw
Paw & Honey Balm - $6.95 (25g) – Available from Priceline and pharmacies
This balm is a true lifesaver. It is made from 100% natural
ingredients, and 98.1% of those are certified organic. It contains among others paw paw, which heals cuts and rashes, and honey which anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, and not to mention makes the balm smell and taste nice. The balm is extremely
moisturising and offers instant soothing relief for dry and chapped lips, and
can also be used on cracked nipples (if you’ve not had kids and breastfed, let
me tell you, it is not an enjoyable experience!), as well as nappy rash! While
so far our little boy has not had any major nappy rash, he little bum has been
a little irritated and red after his immunisation vaccinations affected his
little tummy, - and when you realise that you’ve gone out without a ‘barrier
cream’ how handy is that you can simply use this multi-purpose balm! I also
love using it on my nails and cuticles, but make sure you apply it when you’re
not planning on doing anything for a while, or when you’re heading to bed as it
is a little greasy.
*Neutrogena Rapid
Clear Foaming Cleanser – RRP: $13.99 (175ml) – Available from
Supermarkets, pharmacies and Priceline
I have always struggled with breakouts, and still do to this
day. My skin never looked better or healthier while I was pregnant, but lately
my skin has started to play up a little again. One of my saviours is the Rapid
Clear Oil Eliminating Foaming Cleanser from Neutrogena, which helps my skin be
less greasy, so my makeup stays put for longer during the day. While this
doesn’t give you ‘rapid’ results, the AHA it helps clear up breakouts and
cleans deep down every single pore to avoid future breakouts, and over time
help reduce breakouts as well.
There are to two new fragrances available including; Violet & Apple Blossom and Vanilla & Berries. Along with
their unique aromatic experience, Palmolive Ultra Divine Blends contains a rich
formula which cuts through hard to move grease with ease – leaving your dishes
sparkling clean, while still being gentle on the hands. The Dishwashing Liquid
come in beautiful bottles, and they both smell amazing, although I especially
love the freshness of the Violet &
Apple Blossom. And hubby loves them too, which is the most important seeing he
is the 'dishwasher'..
Billie Goat Soap Lip Balm – RRP: $5.95 (15ml) – Available from
David Jones, pharmacies and Priceline.
I got this Lip balm from Billie Goat Soap in the recent
Beauty Tote from David Jones. I had never tried any products from Billie Goat
before, but let me tell you, I’ve fallen in love with this lip balm. It is made
with goats milk and Essential
nutrients and vitamins including Vitamin C, B1, B6, B12 and E, Beeswax, Coconut
Oil, Jojoba oil and Cocoa Seed butter for added moisture, and I love that it doesn’t
contain any chemical nasties including no parabens, SLS, fragrance or colours.
It is extremely moisturising, and it has a delicious (and natural) scent of
sweet peach. At just $5.95 this is a bargain, and I will definitely be
purchasing this again.

products? Which budget beauty products do you currently love?

Product Review: Le Tan Fast Tan, Instant Le Tan in Le Can
While I am always
trying to be cautions and not spend too much time in the sun, this year being
pregnant, I have been outside in the sun even less that I normally would have
been. Ok, it has been an exceptionally hot and long summer here in Melbourne,
but I have simply not felt comfortable in the heat, as it has made me feel I
was overheating, and made me feel lightheaded. And that’s when it’s luck that self-tanners
have been invented to at least give you a bit of a summer tan. Here are my
thoughts on the *Le Tan Fast Tan, Instant Le Tan in Le Can;
RRP: $6.99 (45g), $14.99 (150g) - Available from Priceline, select pharmacies and supermarkets.
Have you
ever tried Fast Tan? Do you use instant tanners? Which one is your favourite? And
what do you prefer; spray tans or the cream/lotion ones?
What They Say:
"A Salon quality
airbrush tan with the bronze colour and streak-free coverage that Le Tan is
famous for. Le Tan in Le Can works at any angle with a 360c nozzle that gives
you tanning control and delivers super fine mist spray with a gorgeous vanilla
fragrance. Our formula is enriched with Vitamin E to give your skin an instant
healthy glow and extra hydration. Available in Bronze and Deep Bronze".RRP: $6.99 (45g), $14.99 (150g) - Available from Priceline, select pharmacies and supermarkets.
What I Say:
The Le Tan Fast
Tan is very similar in style and use to the Le Tan Flawless Legs, except
the fact that Flawless less is an instant tan that washes off, while Fast Tan
is an actual self-tanner. But the actual application is very similar.
The Fast Tan comes in a spray bottle, which is makes it very easy to use, although it can be a
little tricky to reach some areas of the body, and that’s where its handy
having a friend help you out to ensure an even coverage and tan.
Using the
spray does take a little getting used to, but after a few goes it does get a
lot easier. The first time I used it, I did find that it was extremely messy in
the bathroom, and it actually took longer to clean up bathroom afterwards than
it took to spray myself with the Fast Tan, so on following applications I admit
that I used it outside (making sure the dogs stayed out of reach, didn’t exactly
want to give them a tan too!). But Le Tan also recommends on the back of the
can to "cover floor and wall area to protect from overspray".
As also
recommended on the back of the can, I do also recommend exfoliating and
moisturising before use, as it really does give a nice and more even result,
and not to mention, it does last longer too! Then after spraying your skin with
Fast Tan, quickly rub
it into your skin with your hands before it dries. I recommend doing one area
of your body at a time, as it does dry very fast, and if you are too slow in rubbing
it in, it will end up being a little streaky. But in saying that, the Fast Tan
does have a tint too, making it easy to see where you have sprayed, plus it
does give you an instant tan too. And of course make sure to quickly wash your
hands afterwards to avoid getting stained hands.
I tried the Fast Tan in the colour Bronze, and it is a perfect
colour for my medium skin tone. After about 4-5 hours, it develops into a nice natural
tan, with no sight of orange at all. And the good thing is that the tan can
easily be build up by adding another ‘coat’ the following day! And the tan
lasts for about 4-5 days, fading evenly, so it still looks very natural.
Because the Fast Tan is also tinted and gives you the
instant tan, I unfortunately did find that it rubbed off a little on light
clothing, so I do also recommend using it on a day you are not wearing your
nicest clothes.
The actual spray has a nice sweet vanilla scent, which is pleasant
and subtle, and even after it dried onto the skin, this scent remains. However,
as the tan develops, the typical smell from self-tanners also develops, which I
unfortunately cannot say that I enjoy, but as I am yet to try a self-tanner
that doesn’t develop this distinct smell along with the tan, I will just have
to put up with it!
The $14.99
is rather large, and you do get quite a few goes in it, and considering how
much it is to get a professional spray tan, this is a great bargain product
that still gives you such a nice and natural looking tan.
So all in
all I find that this is a great product that does give you a nice and natural
tan that lasts several days. And once you’ve got the hang of using the spray,
it really is easy and so convenient to use.

Product Review: Le Tan Flawless Legs
We all know that we should stay out of the sun, and avoid
its harsh rays. But as my legs get horribly pale, and as I sadly have some
veins that I’m not that fond of, I feel that having tanned legs, my legs always
look nicer and not to mention hide some of the blemishes and marks on my legs,
and that’s when I rely on self-tanners. Here are my thoughts on the *Le Tan
Flawless Legs Wash Off Instant Tan;
Have you
ever tried Flawless Legs? Do you use instant tanners?
What They Say:
Le Tan Flawless Legs covers freckles, veins and
imperfections so legs look smooth and bronzed. Flawless Legs washes off and is
transfer resistant. Available in Deep Bronze and Bronze.
RRP: $17.99 (75g) – Available from Priceline, Kmart and
Selected Pharmacies
What I Say:
This Le Tan Flawless Legs Wash Off Instant Tan is so
different to anything I’ve tried before, as it is an instant tan, which simply
sprays on, and washes off again.
So never having tried such a wash-off tanner for my legs
before, I didn’t really know
what to expect. Best way to describe it, is as a foundation for the legs, which
gives you a nice natural tan (not orange like some self-tanners), and without
any sparkle or glitter, which I do like. It easily covers marks, spots, scars
and veins on the legs. It stays on nicely all day, and washes off easily with
soap and water.
It has a
subtle smell, which I also do like (and so happy that it doesn’t have a coconut
scent like many other Le Tan product, as I am really not fond of coconut
scented products!
The
Flawless legs comes in an small skinny spray bottle, which is makes it very
easy to use. Application takes a little getting used to, especially trying to
avoid making a mess of the bathroom – so I have to admit that I used it
outside, just to be safe!! But after a few goes I think I’ve perfected the
application.
I definitely
recommend starting with exfoliating and mosturising the legs. Then follow by a
quick spray of the Flawless legs, rubbing it in rather quickly as the product
dries very fast. If you’re too slow rubbing it in, it will end up being streaky
and lumpy! More product can easily be added later to build up the color and
coverage.
I tried the Flawless Legs in the colour Bronze, and it is a perfect
colour for my medium skin tone. It adds a nice golden glow to my legs, with no
sight of orange at all.
Only downside to the Flawless Legs is that it does rub off
on light clothing, but I guess that can be expected from most, if not all,
instant tans.
So all in
all I find that this is a great product, and if you are like me, and very
conscious about veins and marks on your legs, and sometimes just wear stockings
just to hide these imperfections, then this product is the perfect product ,
also giving a healthy glow to legs at the same time
