What They Say:
"Dry, overgrown or unruly cuticles can
detract from even the most expertly performed manicure or pedicure. Get
professional results from your at-home manicures and pedicures with Revitanail®
Cuticle Remover Gel".
RRP: $14.95 (30ml) – Available from
Priceline, Department Stores and select chemists
What I Say:
Too many
applications of nail polish and subsequent uses of nail polish remover that
dries out the cuticles, and forgetting to use nail pol and not pushing my
cuticles back, often leaves them looking dry and overgrown, which is such a
shame as it completely ruins the look of a nice nail polish.
The Revitanail
Cuticle Remover gel contains Sodium Hydroxide to lightly and gently (you won’t feel it)
dissolve the unsightly cuticle build up as well as green tea extract and aloe
vera to soften and moisturise the delicate cuticles, allowing you to push it
back the cuticles, leaving you with a perfectly groomed nail bed.
The Cuticle
Remover Gel is so easy to use as it comes in a tube with a thin applicator tip
for a fuss-free and precise application, which means it
also easy to get just the right amount of gel, without wasting any as well.
You apply a small amount of the clear gel
onto excess cuticles and wait for 4-5 minutes. Do not leave on for longer than
eight minutes. While the gel
is still on your nails, gently push the cuticles back with the flat end of cuticle stick. This is very easy to do, and the clear
gel turns a milky white colour as the dead cuticles dissolve. Once all
the cuticles are pushed back wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
The directions on
the tube say ‘wait 4-5 minutes – do not leave on for longer than 8 minutes’,
while on the box the tube came in, it says to ‘wait 1-2 minutes – do not leave
on for longer than 10 minutes”. This conflicting information is a little
confusing, but I found that 1-2 minutes is just not enough, while if the gel is
left on for the 4-5 minutes, the cuticles are easy to push back. I have never
left it on for more than 8 minutes so I’m not sure what happens if you do!
The gel is very
concentrated so you only need a little bit, and consequently the 30ml tube will
last you a long time, and consequently making the $14.95 price a reasonable
price.
All in all, this
is a fantastic product that I wish I had discovered earlier – no more dried out
cuticles, this stuff really works. The Cuticle Remover gel ensures optimum cuticle health making your nails looks so much nicer and
healthier, with or without nail polish. Of course it also helps make it so much
easier to apply nail polish and more importantly makes your manicure look so
much more professional!
