PRODUCT REVIEW: BECCA TURKISH DELIGHT HOLIDAY SET FROM RY

Today I’d like to share with you an amazing makeup set, the Becca Turkish Delight Holiday Set which is available from Australia’s largest online hair and beauty store, RY. Here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

Becca Turkish Delight Holiday Set gives inimitable colour for a signature look.

Includes;

  • Beach tint in Watermelon, 7ml
  • Ultimate Colour Gloss in Palm Breeze, 7ml
  • Ultimate Eye Colour Quad in Eclipsed, 8g
  • Nail Polish in Tempranillo, 15ml
  • Brown cosmetic bag with dual compartments
RRP: $74 (but valued at $174) – Available from RY

What I Say:

I have never tried anything from the Australian makeup brand Becca before, so I was very excited to put this makeup set to the test.

The makeup came beautifully presented inside a high-quality brown makeup bag with dual compartments, as well as small pockets, elastic straps etc to hold your makeup insecurely. I absolutely love this bag, and love how you can organise your makeup inside the bag, so I immediately started using it. The dark brown colour, which matches the signature colour of Becca is also very modern and stylish, and wont date in a hurry.

This is what was included in the makeup kit:

Beach Tint in Watermelon

This tiny tube of Beach Tint contains a multi-functional cream stain that can be used for both cheek and lips. The oil free and water-resistant crème blends quickly and easily into the skin or lips, leaving a lovely natural looking stain behind.

The Beach Tint has a lovely scent that supposedly is watermelon, but I have to admit that I cannot quite smell that, but in saying that it does have a gorgeous sweet fruity scent that you can only love!

The Watermelon colour is a bright pink shade, but when wiped into the cheeks or lips, it has a lovely and more subtle pink shade that looks very natural, and lasts for hours. In saying that, the creamy liquid is very concentrated so you need to take care not to use too much, or you will end up with quite pink cheeks. As it is a liquid it means that it leaves a nice sheen on the cheeks, which I really like as it is different from the powdery blushes that I usually tend to use. The tint had separated a little when I first opened it, so all I got was a thin liquid, but once I had ‘drained’ that from the tube, I had no issues.

When used on the lips, it does have a bit of a matte finish, so I prefer to use it with a clear lipbalm or gloss on top.

Ultimate Colour Gloss in Palm Breeze

This gloss really pleasantly surprised me, as unlike most other lipglosses it is seriously pigmented, almost to the point you’d call it a lipstick but with the added high shine gloss. It feels light and so comfortable on the lips with its non-sticky formula, and it lasts on the lips for quite a few hours, although naturally not quite as long if you eat or drink. The lipgloss has been enriched with vitamin E to hydrate and nourish the lips, so even when it has worn off, it leaves your lips feel soft and smooth. The colour Palm Breeze is a warm pink fuchsia shade that I really like, and which is perfect for both daytime and night-time wear .

Nail Colour in Tempranillo

This nail polish in the shade Tempranillo is a lovely dark plum shade that is absolutely perfect for autumn and winter. The flat brush makes it easy to apply to a streak-free high finish, and after two coats you’ve got the full saturated colour. It dries quickly and lasts for about 4-5 days without chipping. I also love how glossy it is, even without the use of a top coat. I also love that the formula is 4-free, and hence free from key chemicals including from Formaldehyde, Toluene, Camphor and Dibutyl Phthalate

Ultimate Eye Colour Quad - Eclipsed

This eye shadow quad is without a doubt the hero of this makeup kit. The round quad comes in a soft touch brown plastic compact with a silver insert at the top, making it resemble a wheel. Inside you find a full sized mirror as well as the four eye shadows which includes a metallic champagne, a demi-matte mid-grey, a metallic khaki-green shade as well as a matte moss-brown shade. Each of the colours work beautifully on their own, or complement each other perfectly too when used together in any combination. In short, this palette contains every colour you could need, be it for a simple every day look, or a more intense smoky look using the deeper shades to line the eyes with.

Each of the mineral powder shadows are very pigmented, and apply and blend easily with a brush, and last all day without fading or settling into fine lines around the eyes.

Overall this Turkish Delight Holiday Makeup Kit is a fantastic makeup kit, that contains all the key products, as well as it is a perfect way of getting to know the products from Becca at a bargain price. I absolutely love the products, and am very impressed by the high quality and performance, and I am certainly keen to try more products from the brand.

10 Makeup Products I Would Repurchase: TAG

There’s a tag that has been floating around the beauty virtual world for quite a while on "10 makeup products I would repurchase" if I lost all of my makeup. (Just the thought of it sends chills up my spine!) I think this topic is actually very interesting because it really focuses on the makeup and beauty items that you can't live without, your true go-to Holy Grail products. You can only repurchase 10 items. What would they be?

Here are my top ten  makeup products I would rush out to buy first:

1. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Ivory Cream: This is the first foundation I have tried that truly lasts all day on my combination skin. And it gives sufficient coverage to hide pigmentation, scarring and blemishes, yet while still looking natural. And if I’m in a great hurry, I can even forgo a concealer too! Estee Lauder recently reduced the price of the Double Wear Foundation from $68 to $50. Bonus!

2. Clinique Super Balanced Powder Makeup SPF 15 in colour Natural: This is, as the name suggests, actually a foundation in itself, however, for me it doesn’t quite offer sufficient coverage on its own, so I always use it as a powder only on top of my foundation. And it really does wonders in keeping any shine at bay. All day! And I love that it comes with a built-in grinder so you just grind just the amount of powder you need. It has a handy mirror in the lid, and also comes with a small brush. Available from Clinique for $65.

3. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat in colour 02: I have loved this concealer for years. The concealer is ultra fine, and it gives such a natural result, and acts as an illuminiser as well. A true cult product. Sadly it is not cheap, Touche Eclat is available at Mecca Cosmetica for $55

4. nvey eco Eye Shadow Palette in Neutral Shades: I love all the colours in this neutral palette, they are just so versatile, and for once I actually use every single colour in a palette! The eye shadows are very finely milled and very pigmented, so it is easy to build up the colour. I also love that it is paraben free, SLS free, GM free, cruelty free, talc free, and contains no propylene glycol or petroleum based ingredients, or synthetic fragrances. At $75.95 it is not cheap, but believe me, it's worth it! Available from nvey eco.

5. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in Onyx: This eyeliner is so soft that it glides on with easy without pulling the eyes, yet it stays put all day without bleeding – an absolute must for me as I have sensitive eyes that easily water. Available from Estee Lauder for $38.

6. L’Oreal Super Liner in Carbon Gloss: I have been using L’Oreal’s liquid eye liners for decades, and with every improvement they just get better and better. I bought this particular one during a recent trip to Europe, and I’m not sure if the same one is available yet here in Australia. It has a long felt tip that makes application very easy, whether you want a very fine line or a more bold and dramatic one. And it seriously lasts all day, even when my eyes water, which they often do! L’Oreal has a similar eyeliner available, which is the Superliner in Black Mica selling in Priceline and select chemists for $24.45.

7. Estee Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara in Black: I love this mascara, and currently lucky to have one a sample sized one. I actually prefer sample sized mascaras, as it means that I start using a new and freshly opened mascara more often. This mascara makes my lashes thicker, longer and gives them an amazing curl without the use of a eyelash curler beforehand. And it stays put all day, even when my sensitive eyes water. Available from Estee Lauder for $48

8. Becca Beach Tint in Watermelon: This pink tint gives the most natural looking and beautiful blush on the cheeks and totally lights up my complexion. It can also be used on the lips, and is quite long lasting, but I find that it is a little drying, so I solely use it on my cheeks. It has the most divine fruity scent too. Available from Becca Cosmetics for $42.

9. Estee Lauder Pure Colour Long Lasting Lipstick in Rose Tea: I bought this lipstick for my wedding over 6 years ago, and have repurchased it numerous times since then. It is simply such a wearable shade, not to dark, not too pale. Rumour actually has it that it is Estee Lauder’s best-selling lipsticks for brides , and that once it was phased out, but due to popular demand, they had to reintroduce it!! It has a medium coverage, but can be built up if needed. It leaves the lips with a nice sheen, and is long-lasting. And I love that it contains shea butter which conditions the lips at the same time, and I absolutely love the smell of it too. Available from Estee Lauder for $45.

10. Lanolips Lip Ointment in Rhubarb: I love that this rhubarb pink lip balm is petroleum free AND have SPF15. It is non-sticky and very moisturising, and gives just the perfect amount of colour and sheen on the lips. It can also be layered over lipstick for extra sheen. Available from Adore Beauty for $13.95.
