PRODUCT REVIEW: PETER THOMAS ROTH MEET YOUR MASK KIT FROM SEPHORA

I am always looking for a great face mask, as a frequent DIY at home pampering session can really make such a difference to the look of your skin. One of those brands that I’ve only just recently tried, is Peter Thomas Roth (you can read my thoughts on the Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask here).

I absolutely loved that mask, and still do, although I only have the tiniest amount left. The mask is not the cheapest, but in my opinion it is worth every cent, and ever since trying it, I’ve been very keen on putting other products from the Peter Thomas Roth range to the test.
And I really love how a idea of the Meet Your Mask Kit, as it contains 6 different masks, giving you the chance to put them to the test, before purchasing a full sized one. This is what’s included in the kit;

Pumpkin Enzyme Mask - ExfoliateTriple-action dermal resurfacer helps even out the look of skin tone, smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and clarify the look of skin

Blue Marine Algae Intense Hydrating Mask - Hydrate

The Pumpkin Enzyme Mask is a triple action mask as it works in three ways, pumpkin enzymes to exfoliate, AHA’s to peel and aluminum oxide to polish. You can use it once or twice a week, gently massaging it into the skin to activate the micro-polishing aluminium oxide crystals, and then leave it on the skin for 3-7minutes to let the enzymes and AHA’s work. The mask has a gorgeous fresh fruity scent and it is very gentle on the skin, and leaves it incredibly soft and smooth. Used frequently, it has also helped keep my pores clear, and thereby reduce the amount of breakouts I get, as well as my skin seems more refined and glowing. I need a full size!!

The Cucumber Gel Mask can be used both as a mask left on the skin for 10 minutes, or longer if you like, before washing it off, or it can also be used in a thinner layer as an over-night mask for an intensive treatment. The mask has a gorgeous fresh scent, and a lovely cooling and soothing feeling on the skin, and if you like, you can pop it in the fridge before use, which would be great on a hot day or after spending too long in the sun. The mask hydration you can leave it on overnight which is what I tend to do. I haven’t as such felt any detoxifying effect, but it is clearly giving the skin an intense moisture boost that leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth, and looking somewhat plumper. With my combination skin I don’t tend to use moisture masks frequently, but it will be great as we head towards summer.

The Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask was one I was very excited about, having ageing, yet combination skin prone to breakouts, and nothing beats a good mud mask for drawing out impurities. It can be used 2-3 times per week, or as needed, and it really does help purify the skin and combat congestion. Most mud masks tend to dry completely, which can make them very drying on the skin, but this one is different as it remains wet, which makes it much gentler and more dehydrating on the skin. I also love that it is rich in nutrients to help revitalise the skin and minimise the appearance of lines and wrinkles. I need full size of that one too!

The 24K Gold Mask, which is an anti-ageing mask that helps soften fine lines and wrinkles for a younger, brighter and more radiant appearance. It contains 24K gold along with caffeine and peridot to moisturise, tighten and firm the skin, re-energise and add a gorgeous glow. The mask is very gentle and can be used a couple times a week or as often as needed, and I am really loving how soft and glowing it leaves my skin. It is the perfect treatment when you really want to pamper yourself, or before a special night out for that extra glow. The gold makes it feel so luxurious to use too. I need a new full sized jar.

The Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask promises to help counteract the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as dehydrated, dull and sagging skin, to leave the skin looking younger, softer and more radiant, thanks to the rose extracts that helps stimulate cell turnover. The mask has the most divine rose scent, which I quite like, though some may find it too fragranced. The gel mask can be used 2-3 times per week, or even daily for an intensive treatment. Again, my ageing skin is not dehydrated, but certainly does at times look dull as well as it could do with a lift. And this mask does leave the skin feeling super soft and smooth, and makes it look plumber, though I haven’t noticed major difference to the appearance of my lines and wrinkles. But it does leave the skin with lovely healthy glow. This mask would be great for those wit drier skin, and also great for a pick-me-up.

Finally, there’s the Blue Marine Algae mask, which is promises to add intense hydration to the skin, protecting it from dehydration, and water loss in extreme climates, while soothing and nourishing it. This mask can also be used 2-3 times per week, as or as needed. Again, I think this mask would be better suited for those with drier skin types. But it does leave my skin intensely hydrated, and feeling soft and smooth and with a nice glow. Again great for a pick me up.

The Blue Marine Algae, the Rose Stem Cell and the Cucumber Gel mask are somewhat similar, in that they are all gel masks designed to add intense hydration. They are all gorgeous in their own right, and perfect for this with drier skin, or just in need of a moisture boost. I don’t use moisture masks that often, but if I had to pick a fave from these, it wold be the Rose Stem Cell mask as not only does it smell gorgeous, I also love how it helps with cell turn over and gives me more of a glow than the other two. Regardless, I think I will love all of these masks even more when it is winter and my skin tends to become a little drier. They would also all be great at sleep masks, or to use during long haul flights to prevent the skin from drying out.

That leaves three masks in the set, which also happen to be my three favourites and those I am keen on getting full sizes off, the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask to polish my skin, the Irish Moor Mask to purify my pores and prevent breakouts, and the 24K Gold Mask to lift, firm and add some much needed glow and radiance.

But regardless, this kit really is great and such a fantastic way of putting several different products to the test without purchasing full sizes. The small tubes are contain enough for 3+ uses, so enough to form an opinion of the product, and they’re also fantastic to bring when travelling.
