PRODUCT REVIEW: PEPPA PIG MEDICAL MOBILE CENTRE - WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE....

Everyone loves Peppa Pig, and no wonder. Peppa Pig, George, and all their friends always love to imagine what they will be when they grow up - and all kids love that too. And in fact, this imaginative role play, is not just fun, it is also an important.
According to Nicola Yelland, Professor of Early Childhood Studies, in pretend play, the young child is not just taking on the ‘role’ of the character that they are playing with, or enacting. For them, they ‘are’ that person, animal or object, and the scenes that they create and perform, are a window into the ways in which they are interpreting the world, and how they are making meaning about the behaviours, actions and ideas that they experience.

This pretend play thus allows the child to explore various situations, and examine real-life scenarios, and let their mind explore how to react to them. Peppa Pig has a range of `When I Grow Up, I want to be? new toys, books and DVD’s available that allows this imaginative play. One of them is the Peppa Peppa Medical Mobile Centre*

This cool medical centre transforms from a push along ambulance into an open medical centre, simply by taking off the roof of the ambulance and folding it out.

Once opened up, you’ll reveal a staircase that leads to the operating theatre with a gurney bed, and a moveable x-ray arm, so the child can fold it out and examine Peppa’s little teddy which in included in the set. It also comes with a medicine trolley, with a tray full of plasters and a monitors, so many little details, along with a waiting room with seats and a reception desk. The set also comes with a Dr Brown Bear, Peppa Pig and her tiny bear.

This is such a cute play set and my boys have loved playing doctors, examining the little teddy (and other little toys they have that will fit on the table!), treating them, and giving them a band-aid or medicine, before saying all is good, and giving them a jelly bean before sending them home.

And then Peppa and Dr Brown Bear and close up the medical centre, and jump in front of the ambulance once more and drive to the next emergency.

As a parent, I love that it allows the kids to engage in the pretend play, and once finished, it all packs up neatly. And therefore it is also great to take with you when going out to the cafe or visiting friends and family.
I also love that it is a ‘quiet’ toy, and by that I mean that it is, for once, one that doesn’t require batteries and have loud and repetitive sounds. The child can play with it in the quiet, and and will have to use their own imagination for any sounds needed.

My little boy has been very sick spending almost 5 months in hospital and and still has frequent hospital checkups, so he of all kids know about how to play doctor and nurse, and he is really loving putting all his experiences into play. We have not wanted to trick any bad memories he may have, but he has done this himself - prior to getting this playset, using various other toys as bandages etc and using his teddies as patients, so this Peppa Medical play set is really great for him. Who know, maybe he is a future doctor...!

A great gift idea suited for all Peppa Pig loving kids aged ages 3+ (due to small parts, such as the tiny teddy). Would make for the perfect Xmas gift idea too.
