GET A HEALTHY GLOWING TAN WITH LE TAN UBER DARK AND LIQUID SUN TANNING DROPS

Needless to say that like most others I love the look of a nice tan, as it simply makes my otherwise pasty skin look healthier and more glowing. But I am no longer fond of being out in the sun for too long as it makes me feel dizzy, plus I've done far too much damage in the past, and don't really want to add to the increasing ageing and pigmentation. And that's where a good self-tanner comes in handy. However, I'll be the first to admit that I am not usually fan of self-tanners, and that for many reasons, but the main one being that I simply cannot stand the smell that usually develops with the tan. I've tried countless of self-tanners over the years, and while I've love the result they've given, the smell along has stopped me from using them again. But when a selection of self-tanners from Le Tan's newest range landed on my desk, I couldn't wait to put them to the test...

First there's the Le Tan Liquid Sun Tanning Drops, which are made-to-measure tanning drops are specifically designed to enhance your complexion with a natural glow. They are specifically formulated for the face, and the concentrated tanning solution allows you to stick to your skincare regime when tanning. Simply blend with your favourite moisturiser to create a custom and natural looking tan.

To use, you simply add your usual moisturiser or serum into your hand, and add 3-4 drops for a gradual tan or 6-8 drops for a medium tan decollete. Finish by washing your hands thoroughly with soap to ensure they wont stain.

The actual colour develops over the next 4-6 hours and depending on the depth you want, you can apply a few days in a row, or just, like I do, ever few days to maintain the colour.

The drops have an oily consistency, and dispensing the amount you need is easy thanks to the dropper. I am not usually a fan of facial self-tanners either as I find they make my combination skin feel greasier and often congested, so I really love that you can add these to your usual skincare routine. And I really love how they help give my skin such a nice and healthy looking natural tan. Yes, the bottle is small, but as you only need to use a few drops each time, it will last you for more than 30+ applications.

For the body, Le Tan has launched a range called Uber Dark range, which they claim is the next generation of products for dark tanning. Unlike a lot of other self-tanners, which come in two versions at the most, dark and light or medium, the Uber Dark range comes in four different bases;
  • Ash Base - A dark cool tan for fair skin tones
  • Green Base - A dark olive tan for all skin tones
  • Marula Oil - A hydrating tan for all skin tones
  • Violet Base - A dark bronze-brown tan for olive skin tones

Although my skin is not particularly fair, but because I haven't used self-tanners for a long time, and therefore haven't really got the gist of applying it, I decided to put the Ash Base to test.

But first, as recommended I exfoliated skin to get rid of all dead skin cells, to help with a more even, streak-free tan.

And thanks to the Le Tan Tanning Mitt, applying the light, moisturising foam was so easy. The Tanning Mitt has a back applicator that makes it so easy to tan even hard to reach places such as your back. It is black so you wont see any tanning stains, and it is made from Microfibre and is washable and reusable, by simply washing and drying it after each use.

I applied just one coat of the self-tanner, just to make it safe, but you can apply a second coat if you want a darker tan.

Self-tanning brands often claim their products do not smell, I've heard it before. Perhaps my nose is overly sensitive, so I didn't know if I should believe Le Tan either, though their formulas are fragrance free and contain a odour neutraliser. But thankfully I did not smell anything either during the application, during the development of the colour, or after. YES!!

It is recommended to leave the Uber Dark on the skin for 3+ hours to let the colour develop, but you can leave it for longer - but once the 3 hours was up, I decided to have a quick shower. And I have to say that I've been so impressed with the result, a gorgeous natural looking healthy tanned and glowing and very even look.

The colour will supposedly continue to develop, but I must admit that I didn't see it darken further, but again I was happy with the 'initial' result - but perhaps, if you do want the darker look, leave it for the full 6 hours before washing off.

The tan lasted about 5 or so days, and generally just faded little by little without any patchiness, which I also really liked. I guess to maintain the colour, you really need to reapply every 5 or so days, but for me, doing it as a part of my Sunday pampering routine, is enough.

But overall I really like these Le Tan Uber Dark self tanners. No smell, easy to apply, makes my skin feel soft and moisturised, and gives my skin a natural looking even tan. And I really like that there are four different shade bases in the range so you can customise the shade to fit your skin tone.

I have still just tried the one colour, but cannot wait to put the rest of the bases to the test to see which one is best one for me. For the first time, I've actually found a self-tanner that's true to its word and doesn't smell. Well done Le Tan! So if you're looking for a healthy natural tan, without the smell, then you really must check out these Le Tan Uber Dark's, highly recommended!
