Product Review: ELES Mineral Makeup - Mineral Blush in Coral Sun

Having to get up in the middle of the night to feed our 10 week old son, means that I am a little sleep deprived no longer getting my 7-8 hours of solid beauty sleep. That means that I am often looking a little pale and tired, and that’s when a good blush makes all the difference, giving me a little colour to my face making me look fresher and more awake. Here are my thoughts on the *ELES Mineral Makeup Mineral Blush in the colour Coral Sun;

What They Say:

"Satin-like formula floats over skin creating a healthy glow. Luxurious and long wearing finish brushes on easily without streaking or need for blending."

RRP: $39.50 (3.4g) – Available from ELES Mineral Makeup

What I Say:

This is the first makeup product that I am trying from ELES, and consequently, as I always do, I decided to do a little research into the brand.

ELES is mineral makeup free of heavy fillers and pore-clogging ingredients. The skin-safe formulas contain no chemical ‘nasties’ or potential irritants, such as fragrance, talc, oil and dyes. The products contain added natural ingredients such as Vitamins A, C and E, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, Aloe and Chamomile enrich the skin and give anti-oxidant protection, as well as titanium, zinc, magnesium and aluminum that naturally relax, refresh and rejuvenate the skin.

The ELES Blush in the colour Coral Sun is as the name suggests coral coloured, like a peachy pink. It is so easy to apply and blend with a blush brush, and while you can apply it sheer for just a touch of blush and very natural look, it is also so pigmented that you can also build up the colour for a more intense look. It is a little shimmery, but only slightly, which personally I like and find more suitable for combination skin such as mine, as if using too shimmery products it can easily make your skin look shinier and hence even greasier than it really is.

And the pigments and the quality of this blush is so high, that I can apply this in the morning, and even on my combination skin, by the end of the day it still stays put without sliding or fading.

The actual ELES blush comes in a small round silver compact with a clear lid so you can clearly see the colour of the blush. It doesn’t come with a mirror, or a brush, which some may see as a negative, but I have to say that don’t mind first of all because I never add blush on the go anyway, and secondly, as I always prefer to use my own better quality brushes than the ones provided anyway! And being so small and compact it doesn’t take up much room in my over-flowing cosmetic bag either!!

What I like:

  • That it is made from mineral with no added chemical nasties
  • It gives a natural flushed look which can easily be built up
  • It stays put all day without fading

What I Don’t Like

  • That it is a little pricey for such a small blush that doesn’t come with a mirror or brush (which again I really don’t mind as I prefer using my own brushes anyway).

All in all I am really liking this blush, and I’ve found myself reaching for it again and again over the last month, so I will be very sad when I see the bottom of the pan. I will definitely consider purchasing this, and look into to other products in the ELES product range.

Have you tried any of the makeup products from ELES? Do you use mineral makeup? What’s your preferred blush?
