Product Review: Alina Professional Step One Foundation Primer

Having combination skin, I often have the issue of my makeup sliding off my face already at lunchtime, and especially on the hot and humid summer days. Despite that, it hasn’t been that long since I discovered what an amazing difference it does not only to the look, but also to the staying power of the makeup when you wear a primer. Here are my thoughts on the *Alina professional Step One Foundation Primer;

What They Say:
The Alina Professional Step One Foundation Primer gives you the perfect blank canvas for your makeup. It is fragrance free and ideal for sensitive skin. It is formulated to even out imperfections and prevent excess oils penetrating foundation for a longer lasting flawless finish.

RRP: $39.90 (50ml) –Available from Makeup Australia Online

What I Say:

One of the key features of a primer is to extend the wear of your makeup for at least a couple of hours longer, which having combination skin is a very important feature to me. But a primer also helps create evening out imperfections for a more perfect canvas and a good base for your foundation.

And I was instantly impressed with the quality of the Alina Step One Foundation Primer. From the very first wear, on a very hot day, I was rapt when I realised at the end of the day when I got home, that my still looked so nice. No sliding off, no colour fading. And certainly a lot less shine than I am usually used to, and not to mention, no falling into creases and lines during the day – although I did feel that I needed to do a quick touch up in the afternoon.

The Alina primer, which I intended to be used on top of moisturiser, and before the foundation. It has a lovely thin and light weight creamy texture that feels lovely on the skin and absorbs into the skin right away, and it is easy to blend onto the face, without leaving it feeling dry or sticky. Rather it leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth to look at and to touch.

The Alina Primer is fragrance free, and hence also very suitable for sensitive skin. And according to the box the Alina primer came in, the primer can be used all over the face, eyes, neck and lips, and not just the face as many other primers. I love multi-tasking product, as well as I think that it is a bonus that it is also so gentle that it can be used around the sensitive eye area without any issues.

The Alina primer comes in a simple black squeeze tube with a flip lid. It is easy to use, and I like the fact that it has been designed to stand on its lid, so that the products falls down the tube as you use it, so that you can use every last drop in the tube.

At $39.90 the Alina primer is not cheap, but as you only use so little each time, it will truly last you a long time. And actually, I also find that when I use a primer, I need to use less foundation to get an even look, so while you may spend on the primer, you will also save a little on your foundation.

You do however also need to take into consideration that it is only available for purchase online, which attracts a shipping fee of $9.95, unless you purchase for over $80 as the shipping is free.

Have you ever tried any of the products from Alina Professional? What is your preferred primer? And do you use the same primer for your whole face, including eyes and lips?
