PRODUCT REVIEW: KRISTIN ESS THE ONE SIGNATURE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER AND STYLE REVIVING DRY SHAMPOO - LUXE, YET AFFORDABLE HAIRCARE

Australia always seem to be the last country to get new products and brands, and finally, just before Christmas 2018, the cult haircare brand Kristin Ess finally arrived on our shores, available in Priceline.

The premium, yet affordable products were launched into Target stores in the US in 2017, and in less than two weeks, every single product on shelves across 1,800 the stores was apparently sold out. Talk about being popular and successful. I’ve been lucky to put a few of the products to the test..

  • Kristin Ess The One Signature Shampoo*
  • Kristin Ess The One Signature Conditioner*
  • Kristin Ess Style Reviving Dry Shampoo*

The Kristin Ess One Shampoo and Conditioner is designed for most hair types, designed to leave the hair clean, moisturised and shiny.

The shampoo is sulphate free, which means that it is also great for coloured hair, as it doesn’t make it fade. The products are also made using the unique Zip-Up complex, which combines Kerabead microcapsules and conditioning ingredients like chia seeds, pea protein and marine algae to both strengthen the hair and help "zip-up" split ends while targeting weak areas of the hair, smoothing the appearance of damaged cuticles and helping to protect hair from environmental stressors and colour fade.

Often I find that sulphate free shampoos do not lather up, which automatically makes me use a lot more product than I really need to, so I am quite loving that this one lathers up to a nice soft foam. I only wash my long thick hair every couple of days, but still only feel I need to wash it once, for clean hair and scalp.

The creamy conditioner absorb quickly into the hair, and also rinses easily, without leaving the hair feeling greasy. And afterwards my hair feels soft and smooth, and without being being heavy or weighed down. And my hair is easy to comb out too, without too many knots, and once dry, it is soft, smooth and looking healthy and shiny.

They have the most gorgeous fresh and slightly fruit scent which is just lovely, also as it continues to linger in the hair. And you just got to love those pretty peachy pink bottles which look amazing in the bathroom too.

I also tried the Kristin Ess Style Reviving Dry Shampoo, and as my hair is quite long and thick, and consequently takes quite a while to wash and dry, I admit that I rely heavily on dry shampoo in the mornings. Dry shampoos can be a bit of a hit and miss though. I have dark hair, and often they leave a white cast on my hair, and that’s what I particularly like about this Style Reviving Dry Shampoo, it simply doesn’t as the fine powder applies translucent, so it is suitable to all hair colours.Often dry shampoos are just that, dry shampoos, and nothing more, so I also love that this one contains the Zip-Up complex along with vitamin C, so it cares for my hair as I use it. One of the best dry shampoos I’ve tried in a long time. It simply refreshes my hair, making it smell and feel great. Again, it also has a gorgeous fresh floral scent that you can only love, and the matte black can, looks stylish and sleek

Overall, these products really are lovely, and it is not hard to see why they’ve become so popular, as they not only look luxe, they also feel luxe to use, and in spite of the high quality, they are quite affordable too, so definitely worth a try if you’re keen on trying some professional hair care but just cannot quite justify the premium price.

There are heaps more products in the range, and I am definitely keen on trying more, with particularly the Leave-In treatment and the Moisture Mask high on the list.
