PRODUCT REVIEW: TRUSSARDI THE SOUND OF DONNA EDP

It has been a while, but I am back with a new edition of Fragrance Friday, today talking about the newest launch from Trussardi, Sound of Donna Eau de Parfum.

The Sound of Donna from Trussardi* has just been launched this February 2019 in Australia, and it is described as a sensual delight, and also a new style of scent for Trussardi, in that it’s a gourmand fragrance with Montblanc (sweet chestnut) at its heart.

The House of Trussardi, which has its heritage on Milan, Italy, is usually known for its classic feminine scents.

The Sound of Donna is “dedicated to a fresh, new generation of millennial women; She’s has a different lifestyle to the classic Donna users; She’s rebellious but chic, carefree, alive and sensual, with an underlying sense of glamour. Sound of Donna embraces music, the universal language that overcomes the differences of language, age, sex, culture, ethnics, religion and politics. The compelling scent blends dreams with reality, evoking emotions of the imagination, as only music does.”

Tje fragrance has been created by leading perfumer, Emilie Coppermann, who is known for her work with among others Burberry, Givenchy, Van Cleef & Arpels and Ferragamo.

The Sound of Donna contains the following notes;

  • Top Notes: Mandarin, Green Almond and Magnolia
  • Heart Notes: Heliotrope Flower, White Tuberose and Rose
  • Base Notes: Mont Blanc Accord, Sandalwood and Patchouli

The actual scent starts out slightly sweet, but dries down to a fresh fruity, zesty and floral scent that is also slightly powdery, thanks to the Mont Blanc Accord, with the zesty mandarin, and floral notes from the patchouli and magnolia, along with the powdery creaminess from the almond. It has a slight woody undertone due to the added sandalwood, but thankfully it is still subtle, as personally I find that sandalwood can be a little overpowering and make a fragrance feel very heavy.

The fragrance has a very good wear, and easily lasts all day without the need to reapply. It comes in a gorgeous bottle with a wave-line print on the front and back of the bottle and a stunning silver edging and lid.

It has a very feminine pinky-purple shade, or guess you can also call it ultra-violet, pantone colour of the year for 2018, which was also the year the fragrance was launched in Europe, so really very fitting. In short, it is simple and elegant, that much resembles the sophisticated fashion.

The scent is very different to anything I have ever smelled before, and I guess its the addition of the green almond and the Mont Blanc Accord that makes it so unique. Regardless it is a lovely scent, that I’ll enjoy all year round, both as a day time and night time scent.
