PRODUCT REVIEW // BOBBI BROWN LONG WEAR CREAM SHADOW STICK, CRUSHED LIP COLOR AND HYDRATING FACE CREAM

One of those beauty brands I have been especially loving lately is Bobbi Brown. yes, I am absolutely and utterly in love with the simplistic, sleek monochrome packaging. But aside from that, the luxurious products are such a dream to use and wear. So Needless to say that I was excited when some of their products landed on my desk to try.

As a busy mum of two little boys, I never have long to get myself ready these days, so I love beauty products which are quick and easy to use. I have long absolutely loved eyeshadow crayons, simply as they are so much quicker to use than an eye palette, so needless to say that I was excited when I was sent the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick* to test.

  • The Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick promises to be a long-lasting do-it-all eye shadow, that is easy to use, simply swipe and then blend with your fingers. Quick and easy. And the waterproof formula also promises to be completely budge prof creasing, flaking or fading for 8 hours, yet removes easily with waterproof makeup remover.
  • Even with my combination skin and greasy eyelids, I can can confirm that it simply stays put throughout the day, looking as fresh at night when you take it off, as it did when you applied it in the morning. But it is also not just long-lasting, I also love that it doesn’t drop particles into my sensitive eyes like many powder eye shadows.
  • Its multi-functional, so you can use it to shade, define, smoke up or even highlight the eyes, depending on which of the gorgeous 18 shades you try. I tried the shade Rich Caviar, which is a matte black shade. A little dark for everyday casual wear, but a fanatics shade for adding drama and smoke to your eye look, but it can also be applied lightly and used as a bit of a liner. I am really loving it, how easy it is to use, and how it really does stay put so I’d be very keen to get my hands on a few of the more neutral and earthy tones for daily wear when I’m in a rush.
  • The Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick retails for $46 / 1.6g, which is in the higher end for a single eye shadow, but if you’re like me with limited time to yourself, its worth every cent.

I was also kindly sent the Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour* to test.

  • The Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour is a combination of a lipstick and a lip balm, thanks to containing crushed pigments along with lip-caring ingredients including Vitamins E and C and beeswax. It feels so soft, smooth and comfortable on the lips, and simply gives on like a balm, leaving the lips hydrated.
  • You can wear it several different ways, applying it lightly with just one swipe for a blotted sheer look, or add a few more coats for a more intense colour payoff. Personally I love the intensity it gives with a few coats, but regardless, the wear is incredible, and it lasts well on the lips.
  • In terms of longevity, as most moisturising lipsticks, it doesn’t quite last through a greasy lunch, but when it does fade, it does so evenly, leaving the prettiest stain behind on the lips.
  • As always with Bobbi Brown, the packaging is absolutely incredible and simply oozes style and luxe.
  • There are 23 beautiful shades in the range, and I tried the shade Cherry, a medium red berry shade that is just stunning and the perfect autumn and winter shade, or simply for a night out. I didn’t select this shade myself, but fact is that I probably would, as it is simply stunning. I am ready a huge fan of the Bobbi Brown luxe lipsticks, and these are just as amazing, beautiful colour and feels incredible on the lips. So needless to say I’ve already added a few more shades onto my wish list.
  • The Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour retails at $46 / 3.4g, which again is at the higher end, but on par with other luxe lipstick brands on the market such as Estee Lauder, MAC etc.

Finally, I was also kindly sent the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream* to test.

  • The Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream is intended for those with normal to extra dry skin types, or those wanting to hydrate thirsty skin. I have to say here that I have combination skin, so I was a little concerned it would be too heavy or rich for my skin. However, as with the colder winter weather my skin is generally getting a little drier too. The moisturiser has a light, almost whipped formula, and it absorbs quickly into the skin without any greasiness.
  • It is intended to be used both morning and evening (it doesn’t contain any SPF), and while it did sit well under my makeup, I did feel it was perhaps a tad too rich and in turn had an effect on the wear of my makeup, so consequently I’ve been using it at night on top of my usual serum.
  • The moisturiser contains among others Sodium Hyaluronate, Trehalose and Bobbi Brown signature Enriched Mineral Water Blend to leave skin feeling smooth and plumped, and visibly fresh and glowing, along with Algae Extract to moisturise and condition the skin and caffeine to soothe. And it really does make the skin feel soft and smooth, and clearly intensely nourished, which I really like.
  • It comes in a stunning simplistic glass jar with the signature black embossed Bobbi Brown lid, and personally I absolutely love it, nothing beats a sleek monochrome design. That said, I would have loved if it had come with a little spatula.
  • The cream has a lovely herbal-cucumber that I really love, as it is fresh and subtle.
  • At $85 / 50ml, the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream is also at the high end, but if you are really struggling with dry skin, yet don’t want a thick heavy cream then this one is worth a try. Will I repurchase this cream once finished, I am not sure, I know that my is enjoying the extra moisture boost during the night, but for day time use, I may opt to try the Hydrating Gel Cream or the Vitamin Enriched Face Base next time, as they are a little more suited to my combination skin.

Overall, these products from Bobbi Brown haven’t failed to impress me. High quality, high performance, and super stylish packaging. What more could you want!
