PRODUCT REVIEW: JUNE JACOBS BRIGHTENING SERUM AND MOISTURISER AND ANTI-AGING BLEMISH CONTROL PEEL PADS FROM SEPHORA

I love coming across new beauty brands, and today I am going to talk about a brand that is completely new to me, June Jacobs.

But fact is that June Jacobs is not a new brand, it is simply me who hasn't heard of it before, you see, the brand has actually been around for over 30 years. The brand has the philosophy that the skin’s absorption of pure ingredients and active botanicals without harsh chemicals achieves the highest level of efficacy in enhancing overall skin wellness. And the products, which are found in top spas around the world, are made with natural ingredients formulated to deliver immediate, impactful results with long-term benefits, including powerful botanical extracts, high quality actives and a 20-year U.S. patented anti-oxidant blend of white, red and green tea extracts combined with goji berry, pomegranate and grape seed extracts to help prevent the visible signs of premature ageing.

I have put a couple of the products to the test, including the June Jacobs Brightening Serum and Brightening Moisturiser, as well as the Anti-Aging Blemish Control Peel Pads.

Let's start with the June Jacobs Brightening Serum and Moisturiser. These products are a part of the Brighten & Clarify range. The serum is a potent, nutrient-rich brightening serum formulated to neutralises free radicals, protects against environmental toxins and combats visible signs of again, promote cell turnover and diminish discolouration, for a skin that is more even, clear and radiant.

The Brightening Serum and Moisturiser both contain among others vitamin A along with lactic acid which is an AHA that helps encourage the shedding of cells to promote cell turnover and the appearance of skin discolourations. They also contain lemon peel for its antiseptic and astringent properties which helps to brighten dull skin, along with bearberry extract, mulberry root, licorice extract, to help reduce hyper pigmentation and inhibit melanin production. The added Gigawhite™* made from extracts of mallow, peppermint, cowslip, lady's mantle, speedwell, lemon balm leaf and yarrow extract and Etioline™*, derived from a rare African plant, helps to inhibit the production of sun induced and post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation and promote even skin tone.

In addition, the products also contain a blend of patented anti-oxidants from white, red and green tea extracts combined with goji berry, pomegranate and grape seed extracts help to neutralise free radicals, protect skin from environmental toxins and combat the visible signs of premature age, and leave the skin looking more clear and radiant, and not to mention African Palm Oil, Sweet Almond Seed Oil and Shea Butter to soften the skin and keep it hydrated, soft and supple.

I have been using the June Jacobs Brightening Serum and Moisturise in combination, morning and evening after cleaning my skin. And let me start by revealing that I absolutely loves this combo! Both products are light and absorb quickly into my skin, and without any greasiness or stickiness, so they are perfect for my combination. I am always concerned when I use anti ageing products, that they are too rich and rich and heavy and make my skin congested and breakout. But that is far from the case with these, I think probably due to the added lactic acid and the lemon peel which helps prevent the clogging up of my pores and also have the antiseptic and astringent properties, and I think these ingredients have actually had a positive impact on my skin as I have experienced far less breakouts in the period of using these products. And I didn’t have to use the products for long before it was clear that they really do have a brightening effect on my skin, noticeably making it look so much brighter and simply more glowing and radiant, while also making the skin feel so soft and smooth to touch.

Both products have the most gorgeous fresh fruity scent (I think perhaps from the added lemon peel), though slightly stronger in the serum. I also love the the serum comes in an easy to use pump bottle. The moisturiser comes in a jar, and I like that that it comes with a little spatula so you don't have to keep digging your fingers in.

Next up are the June Jacobs Anti-Aging Blemish Control Peel Pads. And let me stay that before even trying them, the name along was music to my ears. I have always had blemish prone skin, and well now it is ageing too, and often I have to select between either blemish products (which often are more targeted at young teenage skin), or anti-ageing products, which are often too heavy and rich for my skin. So a blemish and anti-ageing in one really does sound amazing to me.

These June Jacobs Anti-Aging Blemish Control Peel Pads are designed to care for skin affected by stress and hormone levels. They contain among others 2% salicylic acid (BHA) to help treat existing blackheads and blemishes and help prevent new acne from forming, by encouraging the skin to shed cells to unclog pores and encourage the cell turnover and allow skincare ingredients to penetrate into the skin more effectively. It also contains lactic acid and glycol acid (AHA) along with broccoli, blue daisy and willow bark extracts and tea tree oil to help promote cell turnover, detoxify problematic skin, soothe irritated skin, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps to absorb oil and clarify congested pores while thoroughly cleansing the skin.

Finally, the peel pads also have the combination of anti-oxidants from white, red and green tea extracts combined with goji berry, pomegranate and grape seed extracts help to neutralise free radicals, protect skin from environmental toxins and combat the visible signs of premature ageing and to leave the skin smoother, clearer and more radiant.

The Anti-Aging Blemish Control Peel Pads are to be used on clean dry skin, avoiding the sensitive eye area, and as they can be a little drying on the skin, it is recommended to use them just once a day and gradually increase to twice daily if needed. Afterwards you’ll need to follow with your usual serum, moisturiser and of course SPF during the day.

The peel pads come in a plastic jar, and the actual pads are a bit like cotton makeup remover pads in size, only they are a bit thicker. And to use, you simply wipe over the face, concentrating, naturally, on the affected areas, or those prone to breakouts.

I have only been using them once a day, at night time before going to bed, as I feel that has been more than sufficient for my skin. And it has clearly had a tremendous effect on my skin, with exisiting breakouts fading a lot quicker than usual, and far less new breakouts too, and those breakouts that I have had, have been significantly smaller in size too. These are such a great addition to your usual skincare routine, whether you use them on a daily basis, or in periods where you skin is particularly troublesome.

Overall, I really have nothing but love for these products as they have done exactly what they have promised. My skin is not only softer and smoother, it is also clearer and more even as well as more glowing and youthful looking, so I can definitely see myself repurchasing these products again, as well as look into other products in the range. If you’re looking for a clearer and more glowing and radiant skin, then I can highly recommend that you look into these products.
