BRAND FOCUS: AVEENO POSITIVELY RADIANT

Today I thought that I’d bring focus to a beautiful range of products from Aveeno, The Positively Radiant range.

The Radiant Cleanser doesn’t over dry the skin, leaving it with a naturally radiant finish. RRP - $13.99 (200ml) – Available from Priceline, select pharmacies and supermarkets.

What I Say:

The Positively Radiant Cleanser comes in a convenient pump bottle, and I love that it is both oil and soap free and non-comedogenic. It gently cleanses my skin, removing all traces of my makeup (except for eye makeup, but I always use a specific eye makeup remover anyway). I also like using it as my second cleanse with my Clairsonic, and that way the cleanser gently helps clean deep down every pore. The cleanser contains small particles of golden glitter/shimmer (mica), but once you rinse your face once you’ve washed it, this shimmer completely disappears.

In the mornings I like to use the Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. As the name suggests a scrub that is so gentle that it is suitable for daily use, even on the most sensitive skin. It contains the tiniest scrubbing particles that gently exfoliates away dead skin cells, excess oil and sebum and cleanses deep down every single pore, to leave your skin feeling ever so soft and smooth – and without any irritation or redness in sight. Being prone to breakouts, I do like that I can use it daily, - especially during summer where I use SPF which I find tend to clog up my pores, but thanks to this daily scrub, it helps keep my skin clearer, and not to mention feel less greasy so in turn my makeup not only looks nicer, but also stays put for longer.

I have combination skin prone to breakout, but this Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser is so light that it is perfect for my skin. It absorbs quickly and easily, leaving my skin feeling soft and moisturised, and without making if look or feel greasy, and very importantly, without making it breakout. And it also gives it a nice radiant glow thanks to containing the tiniest shimmer particles, which is still subtle and doesn’t make it look too glittery either. As it absorbs so quickly it also works perfectly under makeup. It comes in a large 75ml pump bottle that is easy and convenient (and not to mention hygienic to use), and just two tiny pumps is more than sufficient to cover my full face and neck as well. I also love that it contains SPF15, to help protect my skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

Being prone to breakouts, I am always concerned when I start trialling so called ‘intensive’ products, as they are often very heavy, and more targeted for dry skin tones, and consequently I feel that my skin is often drowning in moisture, and feeling clogged up. Luckily that has not been the case with the Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream , which has a surprisingly light consistency for a night cream. It absorbs surprising quickly into the skin, leaving it feeling thoroughly moisturised without feeling greasy. Yet, as it is still quite concentrate, I only need to use the tiniest amount on my face and neck, so I’d dare say that the large jar of cream would last me up to six months!

All the products have the most divine fresh citrusy scent that I really like, and common for all the products is that they contain soy extracts intended to bring radiance to the skin, while evening out the skin tone at the same time. Unfortunately after using the products for several weeks, I am yet to see any difference both in terms of how much my skin glows, and any permanent difference to my skin tone or texture, or any reduction of brown spots, pigmentation and dullness of my skin in the several weeks that I’ve been using the products.

In saying that, my skin does feel very moisturised (and without making it feel congested or make it breakout),so in that way it does look very healthy. I also have to mention that I am currently 21 weeks pregnant, and hence have a huge amount of hormones floating around my body, that is causing a flare up of pigmentation or chloasma as it is also called, so in that way, the products are also fighting a bit of an uphill battle. And overall I really like these products, and would not hesitate repurchase as they are also good value for money. Once there was also a tinted moisturiser available in the range, but sadly that has not been discontinued. I so enjoyed using that during the summer months, so I hope that Aveno will be bringing that back at some stage!
