Product Review: Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover

I always wear makeup, but as I sadly have very sensitive eyes which easily water, I tend to always wear long-wearing makeup, as not to mention waterproof mascaras, to make sure it stays put. But when it comes time to remove the makeup, it is often a struggle, so finding an effective eye makeup remove can be difficult. Here are my thoughts on the *Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover;

What They Say:

This 100% oil-free liquid activates when shaken to gently whisk away even waterproof eye make-up without any tugging, pulling or stinging. Your skin is left feeling clean and fresh with no oily residue. Aloe and Cucumber extracts soothe skin.

RRP:
$10.99 (112ml) – Available from Priceline, supermarkets and select Pharmacies.

What I Say:

The
Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover claims to gently remove even waterproof eye makeup without tugging. That sounds good to me, as always wearing waterproof mascara I need a gentle that can easily be removed without pulling and tugging at my eyes, (and consequently putting tear and wear on the eye area, and not to mention risking pulling out lashes as you go!).

The Eye Make-Up Remover separates into an oily layer and a watery layer, so you have to give it a good shake before use.

I've found that the easiest and most effective way of using is, is getting a cotton pad getting some product on the pad so it's damp and then placing it on my eye for a few seconds to allow it to soak in, and then with one wipe moving from the inner to the outer of my eye area wiping off my makeup.

And it really easily removes all my eye makeup, including waterproof mascara, and long-lasting cream eyeliner and cream Eyeshadow without the need to tug or rub at the eye area. And it is perfect for removing those long-lasting lipsticks too!

In spite of my sensitive eyes, and I'm happy to say this remover doesn't irritate my eyes – there is no stinging, watering or irritation or my eyes.

The Eye Makeup Remover claims to be oil-free, however it does leaves a small amount of oily residue. Some may not like that, and I guess it is an issue as Neutrogena is claiming that it is oil-free - however this isn't a problem for me as I always wash my face with a face wash afterwards which gets rid of this oily residue.

The Eye Makeup Remover has a very gentle scent, which is a little chemical and smells a little artificial, however as it is very weak scent, and it is far from overpowering, it doesn’t bother me, as well as it wouldn’t stop me from buying the product again.

The Eye Makeup Remover comes in a simple see-through bottle made from hard plastic. It has a screw lid, which does make it easy to use – however, as the opening of the bottle is rather large, it can be a little difficult to control the amount that comes out.

All in all, this is a very effective, and not to mention very affordable makeup remover, so what's there not to love about it? I will definitely continue using it, as well as purchase it again in the future!

  2. I have tried this in the past and unfortunately every time I used this after about 5 or 10 minutes it would make my eyes really itchy afterwards, I've found this be the case of most oil based eye removers so I just use Bioderma now :)
