PRODUCT REVIEW: ELEVEN AUSTRALIA MOISTURE LOTION HAND AND BODY CREAM

I have previously declared my love for the hair care products from Eleven Australia (you can see all my reviews here), so it is exciting that the Australian brand now also has ventured into skincare.

This Moisture Lotion Hand & Body Cream contains a moisturising blend of aloe and organic cucumber and while it is thick and rich, it absorbs quickly into my skin, instantly adding intense moisture to any dry areas, and leaving my feeling soft and smooth all day long, without any greasiness or tackiness. It has the most gorgeous fresh and light scent from the aloe and cucumber which I just fell in love with immediately, and I love that this continues to linger on the skin for a while.

It comes in a comes in a huge white bottle with a pump that makes it so easy to use. And the actual bottle has such a simple, yet stunning design with its simplistic green writing that it is a shame to store it away, so I've found myself leaving it out on the vanity, so it can be used as a hand cream throughout the day as well.

And thanks to the gorgeous fresh, and also gender-free scent, I've also caught my husband using it!!

Overall a beautiful hand and body lotion, and at just $24.95 for such a huge bottle, it is very well priced too!

BIO ELIXIA Body Shaper Stretch Mark Diminishing Cream – Full Size (RRP $39/125ml)

 

This cream promises to visible improve the appearance of stretchmarks, skin texture and discolouration. I have previously tried this, (see my full review here), and while I like it and it will most definitely be put to good use, and the full sized product obviously adds great value to the box – I would naturally have been more excited to have received a product that I had not previously tried. But again, as I really like it, and more than likely would have repurchased it again in the future, at least it saves me having to go get it, which is still a good thing! 


ELEVEN AUSTRALIA Miracle Hair Treatment – Full Size (RRP 24.95/125ml)

Another full sized product. Impressive. Yet again I have previously tried this hair treatment (see my full review here), and apart from the coconut scent I really like this treatment. And I love that it contains UVA and UVB filters so it protects my hair from sun damage as we head towards summer. Again, a great addition to the box and I am not complaining about getting a backup of a product I already love, but would, again, naturally have been more excited to receive a product that was new to me.  

 
 

 

ESSENZZA Fuss Free Natural Facial Cleansing Wipes with Aloe Vera + Cucumber – Full Size + mini pack (RRP $6.95/25 wipes, RRP $2.50/8 wipes)
 

 

 

 

 

I have never heard of this brand before, so a big tick for that as I love learning and trialling new products. However, in saying that, I don’t use facial wipes all that much as I simply prefer to use a gel cleanser and splash water in my face. But I do use them when I swatch makeup products for the blog, so they will never go to waste – and also I use them when I go on long-haul flighs – and as I will be heading off to Europe next week, timing is great. 

 

  

 

BIODERMA Crealine H20 – Sample Size, 20ml (RRP $29.99 AUD for 250ml)
 

 

 

 

 

I really like this Micellar water, but I have previously tried it and already own a full sized bottle, so sadly, again, the novelty factor is not there for me. But again, as I really like this product, the small sample size come at a perfect time as it will be perfect for me to bring on the plane when I take off next week!

 

 

 

 

MARSK Eyeshadow Brush Pro-Line – Full Size (RRP $28.95)
 

 

 

 

 

I had never heard of this brand before until I received an Eyeshadow in last month’s box. The Full sized product. The brush seems to be of a good quality, and as you can never have too many makeup brushes, I love the inclusion of this one!

I do like the inclusion of the vouchers, but to be quite honest, I am not sure if I will make use of any of them – the one I would be most likely to use would be the Quickflix, but as we’re already members and have been for years, unfortunately I cannot make use of the voucher!

 

 

So what’s my verdict on the box…. This is a birthday box and with the teaser card included in last month’s box, I was expecting huge things! Am I disappointed – No, I am not, as the included products are great value, and certainly worth far more than the box, and I love in particularly both the BioElixia and the ELEVEN Miracle Treatment – but the products just didn’t wow me as I already know and love them – and to me, the beauty of a subscription box is to be introduced to new products.

 

 

So while I am not as impressed with this box as I have been with previous boxes, on the other hand, I am certainly not complaining getting top-ups of products I already like + a new makeup brush, wipes and a travel sized cleaner for my upcoming holiday.

THREE OF A KIND: GREEN BODY WASHES

Today I am starting a new series of posts on the blog, Three of a Kind, where I will be exploring thee different products which all have something in common, be it the type of product, or maybe the scent that is used. And I’ve got some great ones lined up, including products for all tastes and budgets. But let’s start with some body washes - nothing beats a nice hot shower in the morning, and especially when you use some favourite pampering products. Here’s a rundown on some great green body washes;

Anatomicals Grapefruit and Lemongrass Body Cleanser*

 

This brand was recently – and finally launched in Australia, and if you haven’t already tried out the products, you really should – and they are really purse friendly too, with all products under $10. I recently tested the Grapefruit and Lemongrass Body Cleanser (check out my full review here), and I absolutely love the fresh zesty lemon scent and the gorgeous lime green pump bottle that looks ever so funky in the bathroom. The shower gel leaves your skin clean and feeling soft, and I like that it has been formulated without parabens.

Premium Spa Body Wash with Tangerine & Lime Zest*

Another favourite of mine is the Australian Made Premium Spa Body Wash with Tangerine & Lime Zest (check out my full review here). It is one of the zestiest body washes around, thanks to the tangerine and lemon oil and lime zest used, which makes it smell absolutely divine, and it is sure to give me a much needed wake-up call in the morning, after yet another poor night’s sleep due to a teething toddler. The body wash is not only formulated with certified organic aloe vera to help soothe and heal the skin and calendula extracts to help calm the skin, but it also doesn’t contain any chemical nasties including parabens, SLS or mineral oils. Unfortunately – for me – my husband has really taken a liking to this one, so it’s used up twice as fast, I’ve had to repurchase a new bottle, so it’s lucky that it comes at such a great price.

ELEVEN Australia Wash Me All Over Hand & Body Wash*

 

If you’ve got a few extra dollars to spare, you cannot go past this two-in-one Hand and Body Wash from ELEVEN. ELEVEN has previously been known for their haircare products (check out my reviews of the Shampoo & Conditioner and the Miracle Treatment). The soap is not only PH balanced so it is very gentle, but it is also SLS free. It is infused with natural oils including papaya extract and almond oil to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, and orange, lavender and coconut oils to provide the skin with hydration and repair. And it has added jojoba oil which helps keep the skin soft and hydrated. The soap comes a simple yet modern pump bottle that is easy to use and which will look great in any bathroom, and it has a divine gentle refreshing scent making it perfect for the whole family.

What I Say:

As previous months, the September Violet Box comes in a stylish matte black box, which is closed with a magnetised flip lid and a purple ribbon, and it has the purple Violet Box logo in the corner of the box. And inside, the samples were wrapped in violet tissue paper. The actual box is of a sturdy design, and the fact that it closes completely with the magnet, as well as it has a violet ribbon to tie it with, and as it is black and stylish looking, I love reuse these to store small things such as jewellery and other little knickknacks!

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Floral Slanted Tweezers - Full-size (RRP $14.95)

 

I have never heard of the Vintage Cosmetic Company before, but these slanted tweezers look so cute. They have a cute floral pattern on one side, and a cream colour on the other side. I always misplace my tweezers, and I recently dropped my favourite ones on the bathroom floor, so they are now the tiniest bit bent, and no longer very good, so these new ones come at just the perfect time for me.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Emery Board – Full Size (RRP $4.95)

 

 

Another full-sized product from the Vintage Cosmetic Company, this emery board is so cute too, with the signature cute floral design on one side of the board and a dotted design on the other. In my opinion, a girl can never have to many emery boards, and I keep them everywhere, from my handbags, the study drawer and in the car, so a new one will come in very handy.

 

NS-5 Cuticle & Nail Complex – Full-Size (RRP: $9.95/15g)

I have previously tried the foot balm from the Nutri Synergy, and it is so amazing at fixing cracked heels, that I am quite excited to be trying this cuticle and nail complex treatment too. It promises to help restore dry, ragged cuticles, hangnails and split fingers, as well as strengthen nails, and restore elasticity, to prevent nails from flaking and breaking. And while my nails are in a pretty good condition at the moment, growing like crazy (I have to cut them at least twice a week to keep them at a reasonable length!), my cuticles and definitely dry and ragged, no doubt no liking that I constantly wash my hands, so I look forward to trying this out.

 

Sinful Nail Polish - Full Size (RRP: $4.95/15ml)

 

 

I have heard a lot of the Sinful nail polishes but in spite of the bargain price, never gotten around to trying them, so I am very excited to see the inclusion of one in this months’ box. I got the colour Timbleberry, which is a gorgeous pinky-red colour, perfect for spring and summer. I cant wait to try it out – and in fact, seeing it will be a nice sunny 27 degrees in Melbourne today, it is time to put away the winter boots, and bring out the sandals, so time to add some colour to the toes!!

Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment – 6ml sample (RRP: $24.95/125ml)

 

 

I have already tried this hair treatment (you can see my full review here), and as I really like this product, I am excited to see it included in the box – Eleven Australia is a new brand, and everyone should now experience how great their products are – and besides, this cute little tube will be perfect for travelling or weekends away!

Timeless Truth Stem Cell Extract Mask – Full Size ($5.00/30ml)

 

 

This is another brand that is new to me, and as I love cloth masks I am excited to be trialling this out. It promises to help reduce fine lines, skin tightening and help with pigmentation – exactly what my skin needs.

All in all, another impressive box from Violet Box with the inclusion of 5 full sized products, which have a combined value of almost $40, almost twice the value of the box! And there there’s a bit for the feet, nails, face and also hair too, so there is a nice variety of product, and something to please everyone.

Again I think its an amazing box and definitely worth its value, and while I was not in desperate need of the tweezers and the emery board, they are both ‘stable’ items that are so handy to have. And as for the rest of the products, they are all products that I will look forward to trying and know I will enjoy, so yet again – well done Violet Box.

Product Review: Eleven Australia Hydrate My Hair Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

With my long hair I am always on the lookout for products that can help maintain my locks, and giving birth just a few months ago, trying to avoid my hair becoming a mess as they often say hair does after giving birth and your hormone levels change. So here are my thoughts on the *Eleven Australia Hydrate My Hair Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner;

What I Say:

I recently tried the Eleven Australia 3 Minute Repair Rinse Out Treatment, which is absolutely amazing, and so efficient in just three minutes, and I am also loving the Miracle Treatment and the Make Me Shine, so I was expecting big things of the Hydrate My Hair Moisture Shampoo and conditioner as well.

As the name suggests, Eleven Australia is an Australian owned brand, as well as the products are made in Australia and not tested on animals, which is a great bonus.

The shampoo is extremely concentrated, so although I have long and thick hair, I don’t need a lot of shampoo to create a nice soft lather. And even though I only wash my hair every second day just one shampooing is sufficient to make my hair feel soft and clean.

The conditioner is also quite concentrated, and absorbs instantly into my hair, and afterwards it rinses out quickly and easily without leaving behind a greasy residue. Once towel dried, my hair is easy to comb, with minimal knots and tangles.

Most days, I let my hair dry naturally, and once it is dry, I immediate notice how much softer it is, clearly having benefited from a moisture boost, and cannot stop running my hands through it. Even my dry ends feel and look healthier.

The conditioner does unfortunately contain silicone (Cyclomethicone), which can make the hair feel weighed down and heavy, but that is far from the case - my hair is left feeling nice and light. Both the shampoo and the conditioner also contain parabens (benzyl benzoate), but unfortunately that is still the case with most products.

 

 

The shampoo and the conditioner come in simple, yet modern cream coloured square bottles with rounded corners, and simple turquoise writing front and back. The bottles have a flip lid at the top, which makes them easy to use, even in the shower with wet hands.

One of the first things that strike me, is the smell of the products, which although it is sweet and lolly-like, they smells absolutely amazing, but without being overpowering or sickening sweet. And once the hair is dry, it still has a gorgeous but subtle scent that lasts throughout the day.

At $20.95 and $21.95 each for a 300ml bottles, the shampoo and conditioner are in my eyes reasonably priced considering they are salon products or such high quality.

What I like:

• The simplistic yet very modern bottles
• The gorgeous scent
• The price – compared to other salon hair products of the same quality, these are very well priced!
• Australian owned and made products

What I don’t Like:

• That the conditioner contains silicone, and both products also contain parabens – it would be lovely if they were free from these nasties!

However, all in all, these are great products, clearly helping to restore some moisture in my dry lock, as it even after the first use I could clearly both see and feel the difference – well done Eleven Australia, another brilliant product!

Product Review: Eleven Australia 3 Minute Repair Rinse Out Treatment

While I was pregnant everyone told me to enjoy that my hair seemed to thrive with me being pregnant, and that as soon as I’d given birth and my hormone levels would change again, my hair would take a turn for the worse, I would start to loose hair and it would get dry and dull. My little boy is now 9 weeks old, and while I have started to drop a few hairs, it is still not so bad that I worry. But my hair is a little dry, and suddenly having less time to pamper myself, I was excited when I was asked to trial the *Eleven Australia 3 Minute Repair Rinse Out Treatment, so here are my thoughts;

"A protein & moisture blend to strengthen & nourish dry, damaged hair. Directions: Massage into clean, damp hair. Leave for 3 minutes and rinse out".

What I Say:

I have recently reviewed the Eleven Give Me Clean Hair Dry Shampoo, Make Me Shine Spray Gloss and Miracle Treatment and the and I am still enjoying using these products, I was excited to be 3 Minute Repair Rinse Out Treatment as well – and especially the fact that it takes just three minutes. Just what a busy new mum needs!!

After washing my hair I apply the Rinse Out Treatment, and in spite of being so thick and creamy, it instantly absorbs into my hair (maybe a sign that my hair is very dry and seriously need a haircut!!). Leaving it in for just three minutes, gives me just enough time to use a body scrub in the shower, before I need to rinse out the treatment. Perfect! And the treatment rinses out quickly and easily, and without leaving the hair feeling greasy.

Combing it afterwards is very quick and easy, and I seem to have a lot less knots than I usually do. With a newborn, I mostly leave my hair to dry naturally, - and when it is finally dry several hours later, it is left so soft, shiny and healthy looking and the frizz really has reduced. And while the ends are still in need a serious trim, they do feel more nourished and are looking healthier too. And that is after leaving the treatment in for just three minutes, the results feels like the treatment has been left in my hair for much longer.

The Eleven Australia 3 Minute Repair Rinse Out Treatment contains among others shea butter and an anti-static ingredient, and while I can feel the nourishing and moisturising effect of the shea butter, my hair is not normally static, I have no way of saying if this ingredient is actually working.

The Rinse Out Treatment comes in a white tub with a screw lid and turquoise writing – a simply yet very modern and stylish packaging in line with the rest of Eleven Australia’s products. While the tub is easy to use, I do find it a little clumsy in the shower – first of all, as the shelf in my shower is always packed full of products, I can never find anywhere to put the lid, and secondly, as I dig my hands into the tub to get the treatment, I cannot avoid also getting water into the tub, and hence diluting the treatment. I would much prefer it if came in a tube as it would just be so much easier to use.

 

 

I’ve been using the Rinse Out Treatment weekly for several weeks, and in spite of it containing silicones and parabens I have not noticed that my hair is being weighed down – on the contrary, my hair is clearly relishing this weekly treatment – and again, had it not been so effective in just 3 minutes, I would certainly not have been using it that frequently.

The Rinse Out Treatment has a lovely sweet fruity scent, and while it is sweet, it quite subtle and far from over the top – and once rinsed out and the hair has dried, this scent more or less completely disappears.

At just $24.95 for a 200ml tube this is such great value for a salon quality product, and as it is so thick and concentrated, there is enough for months’ worth of weekly treatments – in spite of my very long and thick hair, I still have well over half a tub left!

What I Like:

• So effective in just 3 minutes
• Easy to rinse out, and makes my hair so easy to comb, and looking so healthy afterwards.
• Has a lovely fruity scent
• A great price for a salon quality product
• The simple, yet modern packaging

What I don’t Like:

• That it comes in a tub, I would find it so much easier to use if it was in a tube
• That it contains parabens and silicones, as I always prefer products free of these ingredients where possible.

Overall, I am loving using this Rinse Out Treatment, and the fact that I can give my hair such an intensive treatment in such a short time, so I would not hesitate buying this again. Another great product from Eleven Australia!

Product Review: Eleven Australia Make Me Shine Spray Gloss

I have long and thick hair, which has been coloured countless times, and not to mentioned stressed out by daily sessions with the hair dryer and heat straightener. And to top it off, just a month ago I gave birth to our beautiful son Oliver (you can see the pics here if you missed them!), and as everyone has kept telling me, the changing hormones raging through my body will be sure to show too in the condition of my hair. And sadly they were right. My hair does feel more dry and doesn’t look as healthy as it usually does. So I was excited to be putting the *Eleven Australia Make Me Shine Spray Gloss to the test. Here are my thoughts;

What I Say:

I recently reviewed the Eleven Australia Miracle Treatment, which truly is a fantastic miracle product, so I was looking forward to and had high hopes for the Make Me Shine Gloss Spray as well.

Eleven Australia products are Australian made and owned. The company is an exciting new venture from leading haircare distributor Ozdare, developed with Creative Directors, Joey Scandizzo, three times Australian Hairdresser of the Year, and Andrew O’Toole, esteemed hair and fashion photographer in Australia and the UK.

 

 

Eleven Australia is driven from a desire for a fresh, uncomplicated and affordable solution to haircare products, made from high performance ingredients, but without the excessive price tag - “healthy, beautiful hair has never been so simple and affordable.” All sounds pretty good to me.

Having long and straight hair, some of the hair products I rely on are products which reduce the flyaways, that I have particularly around my face, and add shine to make my hair look and feel healthier. Make Me Shine does all that.

After washing and styling my hair, I simply add a quick spray of the Make Me Shine, and it smooth over my hair with my hands to tame the flyaways, and the results are amazing. The flyaways really are controlled, and my hair is left with the most amazing shine, yet in spite of being a finishing product, the spray gloss is lightweight and my hair is not left feeling stiff and sticky like some finishing products and hairsprays do. When I use it, my hair looks so shiny and glossy, and it brings out the colours in my hair so it looks like I’ve just had my hair re-coloured!

The Make Me Shine comes in a typical aerosol hairspray can, white with simple yet stylish pink writing on it. Compared to a hairspray it is smaller, but don’t be fooled, just a quick spray will do the trick, so the spray will last you a long time. It has a nice floral scent, which however does fade a little once the product has dried in the hair.

All in all this is a great multi-tasking product, as no longer do I have to add both a gloss serum to give my hair shine, and then follow with a finishing spray to tame those annoying flyaways. At $22.95 it comes at a great price for such a high quality salon product. So if your hair is looking dull and needs a boost, then I highly recommend that you try it. I for one am in love with this product, it truly does make my hair shine!! Well done Eleven!

Product Review: Eleven Give Me Clean Hair Dry Shampoo

I cannot deny that I much prefer to wash my hair with real shampoo and conditioner. But in saying that, sometimes, when you are in a rush, and have maybe hit the snooze button on the alarm clock once too many times, it is handy having a bottle of dry shampoo on standby. Here are my thoughts on the Eleven Give Me Clean Hair Dry Shampoo;

What I Say:

I recently tried the Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment, which was the first product I ever tried from the Eleven brand. But I really loved it, so naturally I had big expectations for the Dry Shampoo as well.

In case you haven’t heard of Eleven before, it is ad Australian brand, and the products are also made here in Australia. The company has been started leading haircare distributor Ozdare, and the products developed with Creative Directors, Joey Scandizzo, three times Australian Hairdresser of the Year, and Andrew O’Toole, esteemed hair and fashion photographer in Australia and the UK. Their main goal is to create a fresh, uncomplicated and affordable solution to haircare products, made from high performance ingredients, but without the excessive price tag - “healthy, beautiful hair has never been so simple and affordable.” Sound pretty good, if you ask me!

It took me a long time to get used to dry shampoos, hey, realise that even existed. But then a few years ago I had shoulder surgery, and knew that it would be a little trick for me to wash and comb my long hair, and a friend recommended that I try the dry shampoo to at least be able to stretch the time between washing it properly. And I haven’t looked back since, and now only wash hair every second day, saving me some much needed time in the mornings or when I am in a hurry.

The Eleven Dry Shampoo claims to remove oil and refresh the hair without water, and it really does help take away any greasy look around the hairline in just seconds, and I am actually, that way able to skip another hair wash now and again (how handy will that be when I’ve given birth to our little boy in just a few weeks, and not doubt will have to cut my time spent in the bathroom down dramatically!!)

The bottle just needs a quick shake, before it is sprayed onto hair from a distance of about 25cm away from the hair. And as with all other dry shampoos, I decided to leave it in for a few minutes to fully absorb any excess grease, before working it through with my hands. And the hair is instantly both looking and smelling cleaner.

As with all other dry shampoos I have tried, it does leave the hair with a bit of a matte and dull look, but in saying that, it is far from as bad and doesn’t leave behind as much white residue as others I’ve tried. And it keeps the grease at bay until the next day when I wash it, as well as it also helps give my hair a little bit of much needed volume.

The Eleven Dry Shampoo has a floral and slightly coconutty scent, which is quite subtle, yet it does stay behind in the hair so you can tend to smell it all day, which I don’t mind, as it is so subtle, although I would prefer if it did not smell of coconuts as it is not one of my preferred scents.

The Eleven Dry Shampoo, comes in a nice looking white spray can, with simple orange writing. It is a simple, yet very stylish and modern looking spray can, which is also very easy to use.

The can is not particularly big (but neither are most of the other dry shampoos I’ve tried), but I actually found it to be more concentrated, and needed to use less to get the result I wanted, so in that way, I do find the price tag of $22.95 quite reasonable for a product of such high quality.
