MAVALA LAUNCHES THE SUNLIGHT LIPSTICK COLLECTION AND THE SOLARIS COLOURS NAIL POLISH COLLECTION - SPRING/SUMMER 2019

It’s still in the middle of winter, and man, I am not enjoying the cold, dark and chilly mornings. But what I do like, is that my favourite seasons, spring and summer is just around the corner.

And one brand that is already preparing by launching its Spring-Summer 2019 collections, is Mavala.

The new Spring-Summer 2019 collections include the Mavala Solaris Colour’s Nail Polish Collection and the Mavala Sunlight Lipstick Collection, which are available from July 2019.

If you’re not already familiar with Mavala, then I can briefly tell you that it is a Swiss brand that has just celebrated their 60s anniversary, and it is truly a loved around the world.

The Mavala Sunlight Lipstick Collection, with the spring summer trends having an emphasis on pure, ethereal beauty and less is more. This collection is intended to make the lips be a celebration of sun and life, with a combination of nude beiges to pinks, burnt golds or browns and bursting berries and and timeless red shades.

The lipsticks can be used in the classic way, or applied with a ‘bitten lips’ effect as seen in South Korea, with the shade faded towards the edges or simply smudged out.

The Sunlight collection includes 6 shades;
  • 591 Fantasy Rose - a pink of a bewitching magic
  • 592 Terra Viva - a terracotta shade, the simple and elegant must have
  • 593 Coral Orange - a solar and luminous orange
  • 594 Scarlet Red - a bright red as chic as scarlet
  • 595 Cloud Beige - a soft and velvety beige
  • 596 Terra Rossa - a brown that has more than one trick up its sleeve

As always, I am not the biggest fan of very pale or beige shades as it makes me feel a little too ‘washed out’ , so needless to say that the bold classic red is right up my alley, and perfect for that special night out.

I am also really loving the Terra Rossa as it is a stunning dark red mauve shade, along with the Terra Viva a slightly more paired down version, which is perfect for daily wear. The Coral Orange is also such a stunning bright shade. It is a little out of my comfort zone, especially paired with my winter pale skin, but I am keen to put it to the test when I get a little summer tan again,

These lipsticks feel so comfortable on the lips, thanks containing Prolip, a mix of among others candelilla wax to add shine, gliding and a protective film on the lips, shea butter to repair, soften, nourish and soothe, aloe vera to protect and regenerate the lips, vitamin E to add antioxidants and moisture, and UVB filers, to help protect the lips again external agressors including wind, sun and pollution. I love that these are not just lipsticks, but they help care for your lips as you wear them.

The lipsticks are quite pigmented so a single swipe is all it takes for an intense look. As they are so pigmented, it also means that they are very long-wearing, even in spite of its moisturising formula. This moisturising formula means that they are very soft and smooth and easy to apply too.

The Mavala nail polishes are a favourite of mine, as I love that they are free from all the chemical nasties including formaldehyde, toluene, camphor, phthalate, parabens, rosin, nickel as well as they do no contain any animal ingredients.
I also love the small bottles containing 5ml, so no need to worry about them drying up, plus it allows you to have a few more in your collection, as they are comparatively lower priced too.

The Mavala Solaris Colours Nail Polish Collection is all about the shades of beige with a naturally minded, and nature inspired range. The earth tones range from sand to tan, cream and clay to browns as well as a corn orange. A palette of sunshine shades, with variations of luminous earth tones to evoke the gentle feel of a promising summer ahead.

The collection contains 6 shades including:

  • 980 Mykonos - a delicate sandy tone
  • 977 Venezia - a sweet honeymoon brown beige
  • 981 Cacao - a rich chocolate brown
  • 976 Shiraz - a soft baked ochre
  • 979 Phonix - a radiant desert hot orange
  • 978 Jodphur - a deep pigmented blue, inspired by a canyon sky

Every single shade is just gorgeous, and I love the combination of the earthy shades, mixed with the brighter ones.

I absolutely adore the two bright ones, the orange Phoenix and the blue Jodphur as they are great to add a bit of brightness amongst the current winter dullness. But also really loving the dark mauve Cacao - sorry Mavala this is not what I associate with a rich chocolate brown!! - but nonetheless a beautiful shade, along with the stunning mauve-red Shiraz.

These polishes are, as always so easy to apply evenly and streak-free thanks to the wide brush, and the small bottle also means a shorter brush, which I personally feel makes it easier to control too. No wonder these polishes keep winning awards!
