PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC MELAN RECOVERY

One of those cosmeceutical brand I really like, is the Spanish Mesoestetic, and not long ago, they launched a new multi-tasking balm, Melan Recovery*, which I’ve put to the test.

The soothing and restorative balm, has been specifically made for sensitive and reddened skin, to boost the effects of the depigmenting treatments, by combatting the reactive signs of inflammation, reddening or irritation, providing immediate comfort and relief. It also helps reduce sensitivity and strengthen the skin’s defences, while restoring water lipid film balance to help recover the barrier function of the skin, adding hydration, elasticity and softness. The balm also helps boosts depigmentation efficacy by helping to prevent new hyper-pigmentation forming and unifying the skin tone

I don’t really suffer with sensitive or reddened skin, but do have increasing pigmentation thanks to a sun-worshipping youth, and two pregnancies. And while I am forever working on reducing it, and trying to prevent it developing further (Slip-slop-slap!!), I like that this balm helps to prevent new hyper-pigmentation from forming. The Melan Recovery contains among others;

  • Rhodosorus marinus extract, a red algae that acts against the triggers of inflammation, helping increase the skin’s resistance and reduce skin sensitivity, redness and irritation
  • Alfa-bisabolol, derived from camomile extract, helping to calm and soothe the skin
  • Prebiotic defence, to help boost the skins defences by favouring the presence of beneficial micro-organisms in the skin over pathogenic bacteria
  • Niacinamide (vitamin B3), to help prevent spots and hyperpigmentation, by blocking the transfer from the melanocyte to the keratinocyte, while improving skin tone and boosting the elasticity of the skin
  • Shea butter, rich in omega 6 essential fatty acids, to help balances the hydrolipidic film to restore its barrier effect and reduce the feeling of tightness and discomfort

The balm has a lightweight non-greasy consistency, absorbing quickly into my skin. It leaves the skin cooling and soothing sensation, and feeling silky soft, smooth, and very moisturised and supple too, but without being heavy or make my skin congested or make it break out. I’ve been using it mainly at night, on top of my usual serum, and have enjoyed how it has been soothing my skin. Again, I do not have sensitive or reddened skin, but can also imagine that the soothing and cooling balm would be great to use during summer on hot days, or if the skin is a little overheated from being in the sun. so I love the fact that it ‘works behind the scenes’, so to speak, and helps prevent further pigmentation from developing.

If you have reddened or sensitive skin, I highly recommend that you give it a try, your skin will thank you, plus as a bonus, it’ll help prevent future pigmentation from developing.
