As I’ve mentioned many times before, but as a beauty blogger, coming across new brands is always extra exciting. And even more when they are of Australian origin.
So when some beautiful products from House of Immortelle* landed on my desk to put to the test, needless to say that I couldn’t wait to try them out.
First, let me briefly tell you about House of Immortelle. The products are made in Australia in small patches to ensure quality, and using only fresh Australian organic ingredients, and enriched with botanical plant extracts and 100% pure essential oils to help nourish and enhance the appearance of the skin. The products are also free from parabens, sulfates, phalates, aluminium, mineral oils, silicone and artificial colours and fragrances, and of course also cruelty free.
- I tried the House of Immortelle Gentle Milky Cleanser, which is a hydrating, balancing and soothing cream cleanser. It contains among others geranium to balance the skin and help control sebum, rosemary to help reverse premature ageing, oil control, while protecting the skin from damage from sun and free radicals, as well as German Chamomile, which works as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, calming redness in the skin. It also contains Kakadu plum, rich in vitamin C to help even out the skin tone.
- It can be used to remove makeup, but I did find that it struggled a little with my long-wearing makeup, but I have enjoyed using it as a second cleanse to ensure absolutely all makeup is removed as well as to clean and freshen up the skin in the morning. I love that it comes in a pump bottle, as it makes it easy to use. Just one pump is sufficient and after massaging it onto the face, its easy to rinse off with water. And it leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and clean, without any dryness or irritation. I also love the natural scent with comes from the added lavender and patchouli.
- I also tried the House of Immortelle Venice Refining Powder Cleanser, which is a powdered cleanser which you mix with water so it becomes a paste that is then used to clean and exfoliate the skin, much in the same way as Dermalogica’s Microfoliant. This one is made from Immortelle, frankincense, lavender, and rosemary to help reverse premature ageing, oil control, and protect skin from damage by sun and free radicals, petitgrain for toning oily skin, balancing sebum, helping to reduce acne, pimples, blackhead & whiteheads, as well as Geranium to help balance the skin, and control sebum.
- The fine-grained powder turns into a gentle paste that gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells, unclogging the pores, and help minimise pores and reduce breakouts, leaving out feeling so soft and smooth, and clearly more refined too. The little bottle, which is actually a full sized bottle, may not look much, but keep in mind that this is the concentrated powder, without any ‘filling’ water or other liquid usually found in cleansers, and you only need the smallest amount.
- It does take a little getting used to exactly how much cleanser is needed, and not least how much water to add without it becoming too runny (and thus wasting), but once you have, its well worth it. While it is very gentle and without a doubt can be used daily, I’m finding that using it on my combination skin approx. every second day is sufficient. Like the Milky Cleanser, it has a gorgeous scent from the added lavender, geranium, rosemary and chamomile, and I love that it doesn’t contain any of the chemical nasties.
I’ve really enjoyed using these products, and the fact that they are not just Australian, they are also made using local ingredients and without any of the chemical nasties. I am especially loving the Refining Powder Cleanser. But there are heaps of other products in the range that sound fantastic and have caught my eye, including the Cleansing Oil, Anti-Ageing Serum and Miraculous Eye Elixir.

- The Hydrating Rose Facial Mist is a facial spray made with water distilled from the petals of rosa damascena, which helps to soothe the skin and hydrate, while the added Geranium helps balance the skin and control sebum. It has a gorgeous subtle floral scent and feels so lovely and refreshing on the skin. It is also great for applying throughout the day for extra moisture or to soothe or cool the skin on hot day.
- The Hydrate Moisturising Emulsion is a very light moisturiser that adds moisture to the skin, but without clogging up the pores or making it feel greasy, so great for my combination skin, and for use under makeup too. It is made using among others Geranium to balance the skin and control sebum, Australian Fragonia to help adjust skin to suitable ph level, and Licorice to help relieve skin irritation and assist in healing skin conditions.
