PRODUCT REVIEW: DERMALOGICA BIOLUMIN-C SERUM FROM RY - FOR SKIN THAT IS HEALTHIER AND BRIGHTER

As a beauty junkie I always get excited when new skincare products hit the shelves, but when they contain certain power-house ingredients, I squeal a little more, for the one reason as I simply find those to have had the biggest impact on the look and feel of my skin in ladder years. One of those ingredients in Vitamin C, so needless to say that I was very excited when Dermalogica’s newest launch, the BioLumin-C Serum* landed on my desk to put to the test, courtesy of the online beauty store, RY

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that can help reduce skin inflammation, pigmentation and while promoting healthy collagen production, for skin that is healthier and brighter. The Dermalogica Biolumic C Serum is'
"A high-performance Vitamin C serum that works with skin’s own defences to brighten and firm. Advanced bio-technology fuses ultra-stable Vitamin C and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, helping to dramatically reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Formulated with advanced technology to deliver more Vitamin C into skin. This superior formula outperforms other Vitamin C products (including those formulated at higher concentrations). Other key ingredients include Vitamin C Complex for brighter, firmer, more radiant skin, Lactic Acid to accelerate cell turnover, Sophora Japonica Flower Extract to help return skin to a calm state after experiencing oxidative stress, and Salvia Hispanica (Chia Seed) Oil to hydrate and help quench free radicals."
  • In other words, it means that the Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum is designed to help firm and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and brighten the skin, reduce pigmentation simply make the skin more even and glowing.

  • The BioLumin-C Serum is said to contain 4.7% of ultra-stable Vitamin C, but thanks to its unique, and stable formula, delivering 3 times the amount of Vitamin C into the skin than other Vitamin C serums

  • The serum is intended to be used on clean face, after toning, but before other serums and moisturise, morning and evening. Dermalogica recommends smoothing the amount of a full dropper over the face and neck, but personally I find that the is way too much and have only been using about half that amount.
  • The serums is super light ( a lot lighter than other Vitamin Serums I’ve previously used) and instantly melts into the skin without any greasiness, which I really like on my combination skin. It also means that I can immediately apply my moisturiser and during the day, also my makeup.
  • And after using for just a few weeks, I have to say that I am impressed with the results. Not only do I love how the serum feels on my skin, and the fact that it doesn’t make my acne prone skin break out. And not only does it make my skin feel and look softer and smoother, it is definitely also brighter and my skin tone appear to be more even, with areas of pigmentation clearly less visible, and old acne scarring also slightly fading. As for the lines and wrinkles, I am yet to see any major difference there, but as my skin in general really does look more even and more glowing and radiant, if you like, that in itself makes my skin appear healthier and more ‘awake’ and hereby also looking younger.
  • The serum comes in a gorgeous little glass bottle and I love that it comes with the dropper, which makes it easy to dispense just the amount you need. I also love that it has a subtle citrus scent and the fact that it is vegan and cruelty free and doesn’t contain any artificial fragrances or colours.
  • Overall this is not a cheap serum, but seriously, if you can afford it, I highly recommend that you give it a try, its like a daily facial in a bottle, and I know you’ll be as hooked on it as I am!!
