PRODUCT REVIEW: BOBBI BROWN SKIN LONG-WEAR WEIGHTLESS FOUNDATION AND INSTANT FULL COVER CONCEALER

You may have noticed my love affair with Bobbi Brown and I mean, what’s not to love. The products look absolutely amazing in their monochrome packaging, my absolute favourite combination, plus they are so luxuriousus and such a joy to use, so needless to say that I squealed a little when their newest foundation, the Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF15* along with the Instant Full Cover Concealer* landed on my desk to put to the test..

Let’s start by talking about the Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation. This foundation promises full coverage with a natural, multidimensional matte finish that's comfortable, breathable and weightless, and stays put for 16 hours.

  • I am not really sure about the 16 hours wear claim, simply as I’d never wear a full face for more than a day, 8 or so hours, maximum. But with my combination skin, I am always struggling getting makeup to stay put and I have to say that it stays put all day without getting shiny, or settling into fine lines, with no need for touch ups.
  • With my ageing combination skin I really love this lightness, and the fact that this foundation is hybrid between skincare and makeup, skin loving ingredients along with oil controlling actives including natural mineral powders helps control excess oil and shine, along with skin-true pigments, and thus giving the skin the best of both worlds.
  • And the foundation is literally weightless, it has a light gel consistency, and it is so easy to apply and blend into the skin, regardless if you prefer a sponge, brush or your fingers. In fact, it is so light, that I actually didn’t think it would live up to its claims of full coverage - usually full coverage foundations are so thick, and often look a bit cakey on the skin - but this one actually surprised me. It really does give the skin such a nice medium to full coverage, easily covering all my pigmentation, acne scarring and redness, evening out my skin tone, all while looking so lovely and natural, and with a nice matte finish, that still looks natural and not flat or lifeless. And I really like how it can be built up where required too. And yes, it is feels so lovely on the skin, as if you’re just wearing a nourishing light moisturiser.
  • Overall, this is seriously an incredible foundation and I love how it helps care for my skin as I wear it, and consequently feels like second skin. And it is not only super easy to apply as it just blends perfectly into the skin, and looks so lovely and natural. And all while staying put all day, controlling any shine, and without creasing, or changing colour. I also love that it is free from parabens, sulphates, phthalates, sulfites, and that it has been dermatologist tested, and not least that it is non-acnegenic.
  • It comes in an easy to use sleek glass pump bottle, which makes it super easy to dispense just the amount of foundation you need without any wastage or mess.
  • Seriously this is an amazing foundation, and it is available in 30 shades, there is sure to be one for most skin tones. I tried the shade Beige, which is has neutral undertones and perfect for my skin. It has such a light feel, yet such a fantastic coverage, and as it is oil-free and controls shine, it is perfect for those of us with greasier skin types. A must try.

Finally, I also put the new Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer to the test.
  • This concealer promises 12 hour wear with a highly pigmented coverage, that brightens dark circles in an instant.
  • And it really is highly pigmented and offers a very high coverage, that can actually help conceal my increasing dark circles under my eyes. The concealer comes with a foot doe applicator, but personally I prefer to use it to just dab a few little dots of the concealer around my eyes, and then blend with either my fingers or a brush. It is very concentrated, so you seriously only need the tiniest amount. It does require you to blend fast, before it dries up, but that said, it is actually surprisingly easy to do, and it gives you the most natural smooth look with a nice sheen. And it really does help brighten up the eye area, making it look less tired, not least thanks to containing some super fine shimmer particles that makes the eyes look more awake.
  • With my increasing lines around the eye area, I am used to foundations and concealers settling into those lines, often making me look not just more tired but also also accentuating my lines. But this Instant Full Cover Concealer really does stay put throughout the day without creasing or settling, and without the need for any touch ups, its the perfect tool when I've had a bad nights sleep.
  • And like the the foundation, this concealer is surprisingly light, yet offers such a great coverage, yet still looking so natural throughout the day. Usually high coverage products are thick and heavy, so it is such a refreshing change, for products to offer both high coverage, yet be so light and weightless and natural looking on the skin.

These products are seriously amazing, no, they do not come cheap, but if you ask me, they are seriously worth it. The give my skin the coverage I feel my skin needs, but while still looking so natural, and feeling amazingly and literally weightless on the skin. And with two little kids, time to myself is limited, and I have no time for touch ups throughout the day, and with these products I simply don’t have to. 10/10 for both products from me!!
