PRODUCT REVIEW: JNAILS FROM JELLYSTONE DESIGNS

Today I am very excited to be sharing with you a new nail polish brand that I've just come across, the Jnails from Jellystone Designs…

So, just another nail polish brand you're probably thinking, with new ones popping up all the time. But the nail polishes from Jnails are different. Very different, you see, these polishes are water-based!! Yup, you read it correctly, they are water-based, and completely non-toxic, odourless, you seriously don't have any smell at all, no more chemical smell as you do your nails - so they are perfect for kids too - and also ideal for pregnant and breastfeeding women concerned with all the chemicals.

The Australian nail polishes are thus ‘7-free’ meaning they do not include seven of the chemical nasties which are used traditional nail polishes including toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), TSF resin, camphor, xylene and triphenyl phosphate.

And the fact that they are water based, also means that they are less damaging and drying to the nails than traditional polishes, as no chemicals, but only water penetrates into nails.

The polishes are available in 8 gorgeous shades, and are super easy to apply thanks to a wide brush, and a single layer gives you full coverage, although you an even better result.

As I've mentioned countless times before, I wash my hands a lot, and I mean a lot, with two toddlers in nappies, so the naturally has an effect on the longevity of nail polishes, but I managed to get just over 3 days wear from the polish, which I think I reasonable. You can obviously extend the wear by using a top coat on top, but as that is likely to be loaded with chemicals, it kind of defeats the purpose.

When I was pregnant, I hardly ever wore nail polish, due to the chemicals, and I know that I would happily have sacrificed the 'wear' for a this cleaner and healthier alternative, so I so wish that I'd come across these earlier. And even now, I do love the fact that they are healthier and safer for you too.

I put three shades to the test, including Starfish, a gorgeous fuchsia shade, Marine, a beautiful teal shade, and Wrasse, a pale grey shade.

I also love that for each bottle of Jnails Nail Polish sold, Jellystone Designs will donate 50 cents to the Australian Marine Conservation, an environmental charity that is working to protect the Great Barrier Reef.
