PRODUCT REVIEW: BURT'S BEES NEW FACIAL CLENSING TOWLETTES

I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I am not the biggest user of Facial Cleansing Wipes. I know they are very popular, but still, I just prefer to use a foaming cleanser and splash water in my face afterwards. But with a sick baby and a toddler, sometimes I am simply so tired at night that I just want to get to bed as quickly as possible, and I almost just cannot be bothered cleaning my face before bedtime – something that I never fail to do - and with my combination skin prone to breakouts simply cannot skip. And that’s where the Facial wipes come in handy. Here are my thoughts on the Facial Cleansing Towelettes from Burt’s Bees;

What I Say:

I love the fact that the products from Burt’s Bees have been made using as natural ingredients as possible, which also means that they do not contain any parabens, phthalates, petrolatum or SLS, and in fact, these wipes are 99.1% natural. My only hesitation was when I smelt the wipes, and realised how nice they smelt, and thought that they had added fragrance, so when I realised they in fact have been scented with natural fragrance too, I was very relieved! And they are definitely the nicest scented wipes I’ve come across.

There are two different types of wipes, a green pack with wipes for normal to dry skin, containing cucumber and Sage, as well as a pink pack with wipes for normal to oily skin containing pink grapefruit. And again, while both smell fantastic, I do prefer the fresh of the pink grapefruit.

Both types of wipes claim to remove dirt, oil and makeup without rinsing, and generally I can agree to that – although I did find that they were struggling a little one day I was wearing a 24HR makeup, but in saying that, even the best of makeup removers sometimes struggle with long wearing makeup. I also find that they are not quite sufficient to remove waterproof makeup, and in particularly mascara, but personally I don’t mind as I prefer to use a specific eye makeup remover anyway! And besides, I do also prefer to use the wipes at night on the days where I have not worn makeup, but still want to cleanse my face before going to bed.

The wipes have a good size and have just the right ‘wetness’, not too wet, and not too dry, and I have to admit that it can be convenient that you don’t have to rinse your face afterwards. This also means that they are perfect for long haul flights!

For my skin type I prefer the Pink Grapefruit wipes, although now we are heading towards winter, I am noticing my skin getting a little drier, so I am enjoying using both types. I also like that after use ,my skin feels soft and smooth, and not sticky or greasy at all, as well as it doesn’t feel dried out, even when using the wipes for oily skin.

The wipes comes in a small pack with a convenient plastic lid, that ensures your wipes wont dry out. At $9.95 for a pack of 30 wipes, they are probably amongst some of the more expensive wipes on the market, but if you are looking for more natural (and beautifully scented) wipes, then they are absolutely worth it!
