PRODUCT REVIEW: NAT FACE VITAMIN C SERUM

Looking at my little boy’s skin, which is blemish free, without any spots, marks, sunspots, or pigmentation, makes me so jealous. Was my skin really also that perfect once! It is difficult to say, but I think things escalated when I moved to Australia back in 1999. The Scandinavian summer is mind and short, and the sun is nowhere near as harsh as it is here. So suddenly being able to enjoy life outdoors for so many more months during the year, meant so much more sun exposure. And I think the start of my poor Scandinavian skin being a more pigmented and sun damaged, and consequently very dull looking. Today I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the *NAT. Face Vitamin C Serum;

What They Say:
A unique, natural formulation for lightening pigmentation and cell regeneration for a healthy glowing complexion. Combining powerful anti-ageing vitamin C (8%), milk thistle and sea-buckthorn extract, this light-weight serum promotes a youthful appearance, increases skin elasticity and slows oxidation and boosts skin hydration by replenishing the skin’s lipid barrier throughout the day

RRP: $75 (30ml) - Available form NAT Skincare

What I Say:
Never heard of NAT before? I hadn’t either – so I was thrilled when I realised that the products are Australian owned and made using pure botanicals and essential oils, extensive scientific research and cutting edge technology.

And with a promise to give the skin a more youthful and glowing complexion, and improve elasticity while leaving the skin hydrated throughout the day, and protecting it from internal and external aggressors, I was excited to trial this serum and see what it would do to my skintone.

The NAT. Face Vitamin C serum has the consistency or a light oil, so it is very runny compared to a serum – I tried to take a photo, but unfortunately I ran off the back of my hand and absorbed into the skin before I could focus the camera, so you’ll have just to imagine this!

The serum is made using an olive leaf extract base and contains among others 8% vitamin C, which delivers a powerful antioxidant and whitening agent with anti-acne and anti-aging properties as well as it helps prevent cellular aging. It also contains Milk Thistle Oil which has a high level of Omega 6 and Vitamin E, and is thought to be one of the most potent ingredients in preventing cellular degeneration from internal and external aggressors, and increase skin elasticity and reducing redness. Finally it also contains Seabuckthorn Extract, which balances and calms the lipid layers of the skin, and as it penetrates deeply into the skin, it is able to actively heal from the inside out and target the root causes of skin imbalances including pigmentation, and regenerate cells, protection against water loss and rich pro-vitamin content.

I have been using it underneath my usual serum and day or night cream, and of course, under makeup as well during the day. And even though it is oil based, I have not experienced any breakouts from using this serum, as well as it hasn’t made my skin feel or look greasy.

Because the serum is so runny, you only need a little, just two small pumps is more than sufficient to cover my full face, and with a little spare on my hands that I can smooth over my neck and also my décolleté which is sadly also highly pigmented.

And after about 3 weeks use, my pigmentation is still there – but honestly, I didn’t expect it to vanish overnight – it has taken decades to get there, and it will take a little more effort to get rid of it. However, in saying that, my skin definitely looks more even and my pigmentation doesn’t appear to be as prominent, especially a couple of darker and large areas on my forehead and above my top lip seem to have faded – and so have some red marks from a recent breakout.

My skin also looks more radiant, and has that glow as if I’d just had a nice 8 hours undisturbed beauty sleep (I cannot remember what that’s like, and those with small babies, I am sure, will nod to this), and my skin simply looks and feels softer and more plump. And that is in just three weeks, so I am hopeful it will deliver even better results by the time I used up the bottle – which considering how little I need to use, is still months away.

The serum comes in a small white pump bottle and sell for $75.00 for 30ml, which is very comparable to other serums of such high quality – and as this really is a natural glow in a bottle, and a sure way of faking a good night’s sleep while treating some underlying issues.

    1. Yep, I'm pretty impressed too - although I could seriously do with a good nights sleep without getting woken by a teething toddler..
