Product Review: L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis Summer 2013 Collection with Swatches

Spring is no doubt my favourite time of year. I simply love it when the trees are blooming, the birds singing and I feel the sun kiss my cheeks again. But I also love that all the major makeup brands bring out their new collections. Here are my thoughts on the new and limited edition *L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Le Vernis Summer Collection;

What I Say:
As most other girls I love nail polishes, so I was excited when I was asked to trial some of the new colours from the L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis Summer Collection.

The new spring and summer collection include the vibrant colours Acid Watermelon, Flashing Lilac, Atomic Purple, Neon Turquoise, Wasabi Hint and Banana Pop, and I was lucky to get to trial the Acid Watermelon, Atomic Purple, Wasabi Hint and Banana Pop.

All these four colours are lovely, but I in particularly love the Acid Watermelon and the Banana Pop which will look so nice when my hands get a little more summer colour.

I have a few other nail polishes from the L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis, and I absolutely love them. They have a lovely formula, and a good quality wide brush that makes them easy to apply smoothly and evenly, even for someone like me who’s a bit of a tool when it comes to applying nail polish.

The nail polishes dry extremely quickly, and have a built in Top Coat, which gives them a nice shine, and they use high quality pigments to two coats is all that it takes to get a good coverage – although for some reason the Atomic Purple seems to have a slightly runnier formula than the other colours, so it took three coats to get a decent coverage.

I wash my hands a lot during the day, having two dogs, and not to mention doing countless nappy changes each day on my little 16 week old boy, but still I manage to get 4 days wear of the polish, before it starts to chip at the ends – but that is without undercoat or additional top coat, and I am sure that if you were to add these, you would get an extended wear.

The polishes come in tall squarish bottles that makes it easy to store them without taking too much room. The only thing I would have liked would be a coloured dot on the top of the lid to make it easier to distinguish the different colours in your collection when stored in a drawer.

At $6.95 these come at a great price even the size of the polish is smaller than the standard size of nail polishes. Still I prefer this size instead of paying more for a larger size, as I usually get tired of colours anyway, and this allows me to purchase several colours instead.

What I Like:
  • The variety of colours, both in this limited collection, and in the range as a whole
  • Easy to use brush that easily covers the nail without making a mess
  • A great price, that allows you to purchase several colours

What I Don’t Like:
  • That the formulas don’t seem to be the same across the different colours
  • Can be difficult to distinguish the colours when stored in a drawer as they merely have the colour number on the top of the lid

Overall these are lovely nail polishes, that apply nicely and evenly and give a nice finish that lasts well, and at the budget price of $6.95 you can afford to add several colours to your collection.
