Product Review: Skin Physics Instant Age Reset BB Plus Cream

I have always struggled with my skin. Combination skin with frequent breakouts, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve also added pigmentation to the list. Consequently I have always preferred to use foundations with at least a medium coverage, in order to cover any blemishes and pigmentation. But then I got pregnant, and although I had feared the opposite, by skin actually cleared up, and has never been clearer. So I realised that now I too could enjoy using the ever so popular BB Creams, and achieve a more natural makeup look. Here are my thoughts on the *Skin Physics Instant Age Reset BB Plus Cream;

What They Say:
"Featuring anti-ageing actives like Renovage® to help visibly revive skin. Skin Physics Instant Age Reset BB Plus may reduce the appearance of: fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet, blemishes, dry dehydrated skin, dark circles, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone AND MORE!"
Available in 3 adjustable shades: Fair, medium and dark

RRP: $39 (40ml) – Available from Selected Myer and selected salons, chemists and pharmacies.

What I Say:
The Skin Physics Instant Age Reset BB Plus 7 in 1 Complexion Correction Balm with Renovage claims to be an absolute multi-tasker, helping to firm, tone, and brighten your skin smoothing and refining the appearance of visible pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

In addition it is formulated with a unique anti-ageing complex featuring Renovage and a biomimetic tetrapeptide which may help to restructure the skin for reducing the appearance of sun damage, fine line and wrinkles, enlarged pores, slackened skin and elasticity, dry dehydrated skin and uneven skin tone. Sounds pretty good to me!

I instantly liked the look of this Skin Physics BB Cream. It comes in a gorgeous red tube with a pump, which I am always in favour of as it makes it easy to get just the amount of cream you need.

The actual cream is quite light, and is very easy to blend into the skin using my fingers. I tried shade Medium, which is a perfect match for my medium being skin tone.

The Cream absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving my skin feeling moisturised, yet without feeling or looking greasy. My sin is left nice and soft, and with a healthy glow and a dewy look.

My skin tone is definitely evened out, but as it has a light coverage, it means that larger marks and pigmentation are still very visible, and a concealer is required to hide these. But in saying that, the coverage of the BB cream can be built up slightly, while still giving a natural look.

Having combination skin, unfortunately it does not stay put all day as by mid-day, my t-zone is shining a fair bit and a touch up is required. However, when using a primer first and also using a powder on top the morning it does stay put for longer before a touch up is required.
Skin Physics claims that this BB Cream is a 7 in 1 cream – but does it live up to its claims?

In regards to keeping the skin hydrated, it definitely ticks that box. As soon as I’ve applied the cream, but skin feels thoroughly hydrated. And when I remove it at night, my skin feels soft and smooth and very moisturised, almost as if I have just removed a moisture mask! Yet it does so without making my skin feel clogged up or congested, and after using this BB cream for a while, I have also not noticed any increase in breakouts, which I am otherwise prone to (and which other BB creams have caused!).

On refining the appearance of visible pores, fine lines and wrinkles, as the BB Cream is so moisturising, it also means that the cream doesn’t settle into these fine lines and wrinkles, and at least don’t aggravate them making them look worse than they are. But as for long-term and permanent effects, I am yet to notice any.

As for reducing the appearance of sun damage and assisting with uneven skin tone, and covering enlarged pores, the light coverage of the BB Cream does even out my skin tone and cover pigmentation, although darker spots are not completely hidden. And again, I am yet to notice any long-term and permanent effects.

Nevertheless, it is a lovely BB Cream, and although it has such a light coverage, I really like how it makes my skin feel so soft and look so glowing. And I really like that it contains SPF15, although an even higher SPF never goes astray.

At $39, I find that this is a reasonable price for a BB Cream with anti-ageing properties, also because with 40ml in the tube, it is larger than most other BB Creams or foundations, which usually only come in 30ml tubes. It works great for my combination skin, and because it is so moisturising, I can only imagine that it would also work very well for those with drier skin types as well. I highly recommend that you try it, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
