Product Review: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

New foundations are being launched so often these days, all promising the latest and greatest in skincare technology. Personally, I am always looking for a new foundation that will improve the look of my complexion, and not to mention hide increasing pigmentation, whilst still looking natural  and not to mention will stay put on my combination skin. Here are my thoughts on the newly launched *Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation;

What They Say:
SMART-TONE™ technology adapts to the colour and texture of skin. Flawless natural finish. With an Oxygen Complex. Lets your skin breathe. Available in 12 shades.

RRP: $17.95 – Available from Priceline, Target, Kmart, Big W, and selected pharmacies, Coles and Woolworths.

What I Say:
With this new Match Perfection Foundation, Rimmel aims to stop the ultimate beauty crime, - erase the proofs of using the wrong foundation colour. This new foundation simply promises to deliver a foundation that is un-detectable, but rather leave the skin flawless and radiant skin, no matter the light, from the bathroom, to the office to a night out at the club!

That’s one big promise. I think many of us have been guilty of using a foundation in the wrong shade

So can this foundation really be that 'magical' that it blends so naturally and seamlessly to blend with your skintone?

The Match Perfection Foundation comes in a slim glass bottle, with a blue lid, which hides a pump, which is easy to use to dispense just the right amount of foundation.

The foundation has a light creamy texture, which makes it so easy to blend it to the skin with your fingers, although I found that I got an even nicer and more even result when using a foundation brush.

The foundation gives a sheer coverage, although it is possible to build it up for a better coverage. The foundation covers uneven skintone, and minor pigmentation, blotchy spots, blemishes and scarring, making the skin look even and unified, although it doesn’t completely cover darker spots. It also gives the skin a nice yet natural illuminating glow, which is from the Sapphire Radiance Complex included in the foundation – yet this glow is without making the skin look too shiny, which I really like, as my combination skin usually produces enough shine on its own!!

So is it so magical that it is undetectable? Well, with just one thin layer, it is very natural and next to impossible to see you are wearing it, however, if you build up coverage, consequently it also becomes easier to actually see you are wearing the foundation.

The Match Perfection Foundation has a nice yet subtle fresh floral scent, which disappears as soon as the foundations has absorbed into the skin. As an added bonus, the foundation also has SPF 18.

Even on my combination skin, on a hot summer’s day, the foundation has a good staying power and lasts well throughout the day, although I still need a slight touch-up of the t-zone area around by the afternoon. But with use of a primer first, it lasted even longer! And throughout the day it is comfortable to wear as it feels like the skin can still breathe.

I tried the foundation in shade 300, which is a sand/beige shade, which perfectly matched my skin tone, but with 12 shades available, which range from a very light porcelain to a dark bronze, there should hopefully be a match for everyone.

All in all, at just $17.95 this is a great foundation at a bargain price. So if you are on a budget, but still want a great foundation giving you a natural look, this may be the foundation just for you. I will enjoy using the rest of the bottle as well I will consider purchasing it again.

  4. I'm in the market for a new full coverage foundation and I was hoping this one was. Otherwise it does sound like a good foundation, especially considering how many shades there are!

    1. I also like having a full coverage foundation at hand, and often turn to Estee Lauder Double Wear, but for a medium coverage this is a great option, and at a great price too.
