I've been taking the regular Elevit Pregnancy Multivitamins for years, actually, come to think of it, since probably the end of 2011, when really started talking seriously about growing our family and we embarked on the journey of IVF, and throughout the pregnancy with our first little boy, as well as also while breastfeeding him until he turned one to ensure that all of his nutritional needs as well as mine were met.

I only stopped taking the Elevit for a few months before I got pregnant with our second boy, and have been taking them every since..
I had initially planned to stop breastfeeding him when he turned one, although gradually weening him to less and less feeds. However, sadly when our second little boy was just 6 weeks old, he ended up at the Royal Children's Hospital where he (and me with him) stayed for the next 4.5 months as he had a life-threatening auto-immune disorder that saw him have intense chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
It has been several months now since he came home from hospital, and while he is slowly improving, there is still a long way to go - and as a result of being so sick for so long, it also means that he is a little behind size and development-wise, so consequently not eating quite as much regular food as a normal healthy baby would at this age. So while our little boy turns one next week, and again I had imagined stopping the breastfeeding then, he will require it for several months still to keep up his nutritional needs.
So it was with excitement that the new Elevit Breastfeeding tablets landed on my desk.
These tablets specifically designed for meeting the greater nutritional requirements while breastfeeding, which are very different to the needs during conception, and pregnancy.
These new Elevit Breastfeeding Multivitamins contains among others;
  • Betacarotene: Supports healthy development of your baby’s overall vision and eye health
  • Omega-3 (DHA): Promotes healthy development of baby’s brain and eyesight
  • Iodine: Assists with baby’s brain development,
  • B-Group Vitamins & Iron: Assists with energy requirements
  • Calcium and Vitamin D: Maintains and assists with development of baby’s bones and teeth
  • Zinc & Vitamin C: Supports baby’s immune system
It is obviously near impossible to measure the effects of the tablets yourself, but I am just happy knowing that taking one of these tablets each day will help support both mine and my little boys nutritional needs.
